Can't see it-with half of Glasgow sobbing because they are convinced Hooper is heading to St. Marys now he has indicated he wants to leave, where would Jay Rod fit in?
Agree9
Disagree2
You are suggesting that Hooper is better then Jay Rodriguez. It may be a case of where would Hooper fit, I think Jay Rod could be a better player then Hoop, Given time. Maybe thats the plan. Even if Lambert cuts it in the prem, which we all prey he does, he will not play for ever. As a striker he might only have 2-3 years in him, Jay Rod is 22 and Hoop is 24. There might be thoughts of an eventual replacement, Though thats a long time to sit on the bench.
Then theres the issue of Billy Sharp in the mix.
I think only time will tell on this one.

My understanding is NC wants to run with 4 very good strikers lambert - sharp - Jay Rod - Hooper ?? Lee in the more winger mode?
i can see Barnard and Forte going out - Rumour is that Barnard will be part of the Jay Rod deal

I think the last post makes a good deal of sense, my only concern is that if Adkins wants to go with 4 quality forwards then fine, but for all 4 to lack Premiership experience and questions as to how well all of them could cope with the Premiership could be a worry.

I don't think Barnard got a fair chance to prove himself last year, being injured for half the season, maybe better to put him out on loan to a championship club where he will get first team football to see how he copes, then if he does well he might feature for us in the prem who knows

According to the london standard, Southampton are looking at signing Chelsea Striker Romelu Lukaku on a season long loan.
"The 19 year old has only played 8 games for the new european champions since his move from anderlecht last summer, where he played 73 games and scoring 33 goals, he has also gained 15 caps for belgium".

No thanks. I don't want to help other clubs youth players develop, we have enough potential in our academy if we wanted to add someone inexperienced and young to our squad.

Peter Whittingham - Cardiff - £5m
magical left foot and great addition for set pieces.

Yeah i agree with this but i think first we need to sign a house hold name from the prem, just as a signal of intent.
We can sign the greatest players from the lower leagues but people arent going to see that as progress until we've signed a well know prem player.
That said I think Whittingham would be a great edition to the club. Just the sort of fella we need.

Get it right on the pitch and we'll silence all the critics ........don't worry about what others think.
Agree5

Yeah i agree with you, on the pitch is where it counts but fans are fickle and the majority will need to see a big name just to keep the faith.

Household names mean nothing, i would rather trust Nigel and Nicholas to pull together players that they believe in rather than some over egotistical person that we have all heard of. Whitingham is a quality player and if we can get him, great. Guarantee that we will sign somebody that nobody has heard of and yet performs...!
Agree3

Don't think so. He doesn't seem to have a very energetic approach to the game and I feel Saints need someone to play in central midfield alongside Schneiderlin who can go box to box and score a good number of goals.

What we need is owen hargreves box t box works hard and is a top player on his day.has experince at top clubs and has winning metality and would be good with morgan, altough he is injury prone if fit will be a massive asset to us
