Reports from Sky Italia are saying Southampton are set to up there offer for Coutinho to €12M.

Player said he wanted to stay at Inter over joining Liverpool. Possibly the fact he's worked with MP may make him have a different outlook on joining Saints

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Cortese can be quite convincing and Pochettino being his former manager could well make it happen. But we will have to wait and see I'm afraid.

Reports indicating Scottish Premier league sides Dundee United and St Mirren are looking at Southampton's young Aaron Martin. Dundee are rumoured to have launched an official bid for him and there is a high chance of them being successful with a want to bring in better talent at Southampton and him being rather surplus to requirements in both the long and short run.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Martin is a good prospect I'd rather keep him

In an interview the new Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has announced he will be looking to la liga to bring in young talent to the club. Likely clubs he will try to take young talent from include Espanyol and Real Madrid (due to connections with Maurinio). This points towards to the potential signing of Callejon who has been linked with the club. Southampton are also in for Lucas Biglia who he and Cortese apparently had 'lengthy discussions' about the possibility of bringing him to St Mary's from Aderlecht (who aren't in la liga).

Believable7 Unbelievable9

Which interview ? ? Are you referring to

Agree1 Disagree2

Revista De La Liga. It was on tonight.

Agree5 Disagree1

I'm assuming you're referring to the interview with ? There is certainly a link between 'Mourinho' & Pochettino, however this does not mean that Southampton will be able to attract the right calibre of players from Madrid they we need! Pochettino also implied they he was focused on developing the young talent at Southampton. COYR

Agree3 Disagree1

Spoke to a Spanish football magazine called 'Revista'. He mentioned the want for talent from La Liga but the rest is speculation that followed the interview.

Agree3 Disagree0

Just google 'pochettino interview liga' - plenty of hits involving Sky and others

Southampton will look to bring in 3 more players in the window, rumours are they are looking at Dejan Lovren or Davide Astori, Lucas Biglia or Joan Verdu and Jose Callejon or Phillipe Coutinho as these are positions Pochettino looks to add more strength and depth to the squad. Cortese will look for which players he can get the best deal from the list handed to him by Pochettino.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Davide Astori was never going to happen. Merely agent talk. And Coutinho has said he's staying at Inter.

Agree4 Disagree4

Coutinho, frustratingly, looks bound for Anfield. Callejon however would a superb signing and I'd happily take either of those two.

The Verdu rumour seems to have surfaced from the fact our new gaffa is the former of Espanyol right? I can't see this one happening myself but I may be wrong, think Biglia is more likely and he'd be the one I'd prefer.

Finally the defence, I think Forren was our signing there and we won't get another, that being said I couldn't say no to Lovren or Astori if either of them came off as they are quality, but I have my doubts we will take another defender at all.

Agree3 Disagree4

Personly out of them I hope we get lovren verdu and caljon best outcome for me

All old news, Astori appears to be dead. We've gone to Barcelona and I'd be surprised if we didn't come back with at least one new addition seeing as how Espanyol are based in Barcelona. I feel it's no coincidence. But then again who knows with Cortese, he could pull anything out of the back. Verdu, Biglia or Coutinho would all be great. And I don't want to believe these rumours about José Callejon, but what a signing that would be. If you look at his return from his starts for Real, particularly in the Champions League, it's high class.

Agree2 Disagree1

Southampton are in for Lucas Biglia, midfielder, plays in Belgian league, source - tv

Agree6 Disagree0

Dejan is dc top defender would be excellent transfer
The St Saint!

Agree1 Disagree1

The Liverpool Coutinho deal looks to be dead with said player wanting to stay with Inter and no fee being agreed.

Agree3 Disagree0

I doubt we'll sign another defender unless we sell, I reckon we could still steel Coutino from Liverpool, I'd prefer Biglia to Verdu as he's younger, maybe we'll sign a striker too, I also expect a number of hot prospects to sign, Nathon Redmond, Will Hughs...

Agree0 Disagree1

Verdu is off to Athletico Madrid apparently

Pochettino is considering bringing in Malaga striker Sebastian Fernandez on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Saints believe Fernandez, 27, would link up well with their Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Ramires.

Fernandez is available to leave Malaga after only making two starts this season, as the likes of Roque Santa Cruz and Javier Saviola have been preferred. - chris

Believable4 Unbelievable13

Made 2 starts behind Santa Cruz? He can stay at Malaga, ta.

Agree11 Disagree1

He's also been 3rd choice striker for two seasons now.. I'd prefer callejon ;)

Agree10 Disagree1

Yeah we don't want someone who is part of a last 16 Champions League squad who can't get in the team over two VERY good strikers. Definitely not good enough for the mighty Saints. I'd prefer Messi.

Get a grip....

Agree3 Disagree5

No way will we sign Fernandez.
Too old, poor scoring record.

St Ripper

Agree4 Disagree1

We want someone who is good enough to bring us up the table. I think we will look for younger and better if we go for anyone...

Saints linked with lucus biglia gone on strike in argentina to force move to england available from around 8 million
Cornish saint

Believable9 Unbelievable1

I'd have thought this is paper talk, with journalists linking the dots because they are both Argentinian. I'd hope so anyway, don't really think a new defensive midfield is what we need.

mssaint

Agree0 Disagree3

Sure he plays in belgium for anderlecht {Ed001's Note - he flew home to Argentina though and refused to return.}

Agree1 Disagree0

So we want a player that's on strike, great selling point

Agree5 Disagree2

I don't know how long we can afford to wait for Rodrigues to blossom. We need more of a threat up front as Ricky can't be expected to do it all.

Agree5 Disagree1

JayRod gets better with every game. Just needs some confidence and a clear role in the team.... at present he is expect to be a poacher, a winger or lambert. He can't be all 3!

Agree5 Disagree4

If he's on strike, we should be able to get him cheaply. An old Clough trick, buy the one's with supposed problems cheaply and fix them.

Agree0 Disagree1

Agree Jrod is not doing it for me or the team, seems to be shy about shooting when in good postions, doesn't attack a defender like Pucheon, easily knocked off the ball and cannot play with his back to goal. I know he is young and did well in the championship, but has to be more ruthless, agressive and SHOOT!

Agree7 Disagree3

I don't know what games you two that say he's not good enough have been watching jrod has been getting better and better with every game he's still young and first season in the premiership and still learning
