Wanyama says that a move to Southampton doesn't interest him. Rumour has it that Arsenal could be about to make a move for him, and Liverpool are also said to be sniffing around.

Believable9 Unbelievable13

It's his agent who doesn't care for us because the fee we aren't willing to pay him. Wanyama may as well go warm the bench elsewhere. Cortese doesn't deal with pains.

Agree22 Disagree3

Old news move on!

Agree21 Disagree1

Lol walm the bench. wanyama will get in most teams so quit crying and accept big names wnt join little teams

Agree3 Disagree24

They don't want him, otherwise they'd have made a move by now.

His options are saints or Cardiff, his agent is the one holding a move up.

Either way, will be interesting to see Celtic fans reaction if 'their star player who could walk into any European team' moves to a 'small' club like us or Cardiff.

Agree14 Disagree1

Think you will find Arsenal still want Fellaini instead, but surprise, surprise are finding he wants more money than they want to pay!

Agree5 Disagree3

So he's a big name? Why? Because he had a good game against Barcelona. or the season he had with Celtic. not digging that the spl is no good but what's he won? he's only 21 and yes he could become a great player but he ain't just yet is he?

Agree15 Disagree0

There are a lot of Saints fans living in a dreamworld at the moment. FYI I am a Saints fan.

We are not going to be challenging the top 4 for years to come, if ever. We might be challenging for top 8 if we make some astute signing to strengthen key positions. We scraped through last season, let's be realistic about this one.

We are not the 4th/5th richest club in the UK. We may have wealthy owners (or certainly children of a wealthy deceased owner) but they are not about to do a City. PSG or Chelsea and invest 100's of millions.

Fair Play rules mean that with a stadium of 32,000 (only sold out for big games) we are not able to spunk big money on wages.

For the other bedwetters out there Wanyama is a decent, but largely unproven player. No reason why he wouldn't want to join saints - he isn't excactly in the same transfer league as Cavani, Rooney, Isco etc etc {Ed052's Note - I don't think it impossible for you to get top 4, but it wont be next season, or probably the one after. It'll be a few years away, with some high quality cheap signings.}

Agree11 Disagree3

Agree with the guy above. People making stuff up about the clubs targets. First objective; become a established premier league team again. That would do me! Anything beyond that is better than I've ever known. With the money we've got though, I believe we could become a team consistently challenging top 6 in a few years as long as the club continues to invest. That's my ambition though.

Lenny

Agree5 Disagree2

Agree with the realistic sentiments above about our immediate future. In terms of cash and owners we are in fact 3/4 in terms of the rich list in the premiership.

The Glaziers are not billionaires (utd debt is huge) FSG at Liverpool are not billionaires which leaves City, Chelsea, and the Arsenal. The first two have super rich owners, Arsenal ownership and finance is very complicated and they have ongoing power struggle on the club is run hence their inability to spend big in recent seasons

Agree2 Disagree0

To all those posting pessimism on here, claiming to be Saints fans, step back a minute and contemplate your rationale for a minute. Feel it? Scary isn't it? The world as you know it is no longer, and you seek to maintain the old-school through old-school behavior. Well, all you are changing is a few bits in a database. The not-too-distant-future has Saints vs Devils as THE event to watch in the Greatest Show on Earth. You better believe it, or I and the other rational bettors will laugh all the way to the bank at your expense. It takes a while for people in general to realize - more precisely, so-called upset after upset - and that is GOLD.

Agree5 Disagree0

This is absolute twaddle, let's get back to what this site is all about.

Agree3 Disagree0

I have been a saints fan all my life and this is without a doubt the best I have ever felt going into a new season let the transfers take care of themselves stop worrying about other teams and just enjoy the ride coyr

Agree8 Disagree0

Whoever gets wanyama now is welcome to him but wherever he ends up, everyone will know that the club have had their pants pulled down

st stuie

Agree5 Disagree0

"let's get back to what this site is all about".

I totally agree, but my post was true. People in general have 'relegation-struggle' on their mind when they think about us. It is actually really interesting. We all have the same information, but people are really immune to changes. I see those results against the Big 4 last season as a sign of normality. And that would indeed mean we have European potential.

Also, has anyone considered how fortunate we are having world leading producers of heavy construction machinery as owners, if/when we decide to expand? Building is in their blood!

Agree4 Disagree0

I think we all ought to slow down, as you know Harry the Hood completely screwed QPR last season financially and look where they ended up. I believe that when it comes to purchases NC will seek advice from MP as he has played at the highest level and managed some great players whilst in Spain. The same was not the case when Nigel was in charge as he had only played as a goalkeeper in the lower leagues.
I think they will sign good value for money players who will fit in with our squad. By the way Gaston Ramirez will be twice the player this season after a good pre-season preparing. There is no substitute for class and he has this in bucketloads just needs to settle in and be played in the right position. Saints will hopefully not struggle this season but you lot thinking about Europe might have to wait a couple of years. Rome was not built in a day. What we will have is a closely knit group of professionals who can only improve. No mercenaries at St. Marys the likes of Harry and Ollie are welcome to them!

Wanyammas agent is in southampton. Hopefully with his sensible demands head on.

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Got to be honest mate - looks very much as though they are using Saints and Cardiff to blag move to top 4 club - must admit love him to play for us but my hrad tells me it ain't happening.

Happy Saint

Agree13 Disagree2

Sly reported about 2 1/2 hours ago that Wanyama had rejected us. Might just be following what the papers have been saying though. With Cardiff agreeing a fee for Tom Ince, if they were to get Wanyama too it'd mean they've really shown their intent! {Ed003's Note - Since when has a fee been agreed for Ince? }

Agree4 Disagree2

I think this is dead. let's move on
COYR

Agree5 Disagree3

How'd you know the agent is?

Agree2 Disagree2

It's the premier league, there are no sensible demands.

Agree4 Disagree0

I was only passing on news seen on the BBC. Nobody else had. Agree about the demands bit, but Sandra Bullock gets 15 million a film. Just putting things in perspective.

Agree4 Disagree1

Wanyama snubs Southampton not the first won't be the last.

Agree3 Disagree3

Wanyama agent asking for a ridiculous amount apparently. The guy needs to stop being selfish and consontrate on the player. He's not going to get any more money at another club. All depends on resilience now, Cortese or Agent? I know who normally wins.

Mini-Saint

Agree2 Disagree1

Personally rather have niangoolin and for the record it sais on tv that he rejected us but he ddnt he recieved an offer from us and is considering it hasn't rejected it hopfully get one of the 2 COYR

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed - Sk why reported fee agreed for Ince 11 hours ago between Blackpool and Cardiff. {Ed003's Note - A paper reported it last week,sly did last night does that mean it's true ? }

Agree1 Disagree0

I said earlier on that I'm glad we are being sensible with our money, but at the same time you can't blame the lad going for all he can get. Money in football now is stupid. Players getting well in excess of triple the average persons years salary in a week? So from a team perspective Yes we have to protect our finances but you can't blame a player for pushing for as much as he can!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama has not snubbed saints in the slightest. Pretty much everything has been agreed except the agents fee & he is rumoured to want in excess of £1m so NC has told him to reconsider his ( the agent) demands or the deal is off.
In my opinion, if anothe club like cardiff come in & are wiling to pick up the agents tab then they are welcome to him however I think it is important that somebody makes a stand against greedy agents otherwsie this will create a benchmark which a lot of other agents will use & ultimately start effecting a lot of potential transfers.

Agree9 Disagree1

I thought he HAD snubbed saints. and was recorded as having done so. As far as I was aware he had personally snubbed our offer

Agree1 Disagree2

If you read his statement, it all adds up. Wanyama did not close the door, just said the offer was not right for him AND HIS AGENT. i. e. all agreed but the virtually needless £1m agent fees.

Agree5 Disagree1

We've dodged a massive bullet, all they are interested in is the money. His agent has been bleating about how Celtic cost them a £1m in wages because they wouldn't agree to selling him to QPR last season. after one year of his contract! Lucky Rangers as they'd now be paying a fortune to someone (else) who has no intention of playing for them, but is happy to suck their blood and leave them for dead. All I see is a greedy agent who totally overrates his player and a player who wouldn't pee on you if you were on fire!. The kids got talent, don't get me wrong but if the only reason they will play for you is the wages, then shut the door in their face. I respected Nainggolan more for saying he'd rather play for a bigger club and not the money. I knew this deal stunk.

Agree7 Disagree1

Celtic fan here.
Wanyama is only on £5k a week and has been for 2 years now.
He was offered a pay rise at the start of last season, rumoured to be £25k a week, providing he signed a new 4 year deal and his agent turned it down.
QPR came in and rumour has it that they offered him £45k a week but Celtic were only offered a £5 - 7 million transfer fee.

hearing this morning that we interested in Nicols Lpez (Roma)

Got it from a player Friday night that the away Kit is black and gold? also heard that there is a 3rd kit Gold and black.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

I heard this to. ill be honest black and gold does sound really nice.

Agree3 Disagree2

Which player said that? why would we have an away shirt that's black and gold then a 3rd shirt gold and black? not fooling for this one and as for the striker joining and it being on #saintsfc yeah yeah whatever

Agree5 Disagree0

I apologise in advance for my scepticism, but another random AS Roma player that we are supposedly linked with, just because he originates from Uruguay?

Agree5 Disagree0

I love how he's played 22 games in his entire career including U-20's

Agree2 Disagree0

If you think about it this black and gold away kit may look like our 2009-10 kit remeber with the pattern round the badge

Striker from the Spanish league to sign later today. not sure from which team but he's a young striker who has gone under the radar of most English teams - hopefully turn out to be next season's Michu!

Believable11 Unbelievable20

It's true. Set to be revealed today #saintsfc

Agree6 Disagree15

How do you know its true, unless the club release an official statement nothing it true!

Agree14 Disagree1

Any names or just a random player rumour?

Agree7 Disagree1

I think you are telling porkies but I hope you are right. Pochettino is running out of time before his own July 1st deadline.

Agree7 Disagree1

Theres nothing on #saintsfc about this! stop the lies!

Agree4 Disagree0

I really want to believe this.

Agree4 Disagree1

Adrian Lopez from Atletico Madrid

Agree3 Disagree1

And it turns out to be false. What a surprise. Nobody has signed.

Agree4 Disagree0

Dries mertens from pave signs five year deal with Napoli for 10 million that's that one out the window.

In kenyan press there are reports that Victor Wanyama is currently demanding 85000 GBP per week plus 2000000 gbp signing on payment from Southampton and that is why the transfer is not moving on well. Cardiff are willing to match this ridiculous demand but will not pay the transfer fee demanded by Celtic

Nairobi saint

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Does anyone know what Ramirez's wage is? I assume he's the best paid? I would assume they want to set up a wage structure early doors to avoid a lack of harmony in the squad so our limit would surely be relative with the highest paid players we currently have?

Agree8 Disagree0

I hope Cortese tells him where to stick those demands. Cut that wage in half and we may begin to consider but that'd still be pushing his luck.

Agree9 Disagree1

I would be suspicious of the accuracy of this but if it is true then he can go take a walk. Not worth anything close to a package like that. Would indicate his greed and that he is more than likely a mercenary who would look to move in a year or two, not to mention the blowing of the wage structure and how the rest of the squad would feel.

Agree11 Disagree1

Very interesting Nairobi Saint. Who does Wanyama think he is? Andy Carroll? No thanks!

Agree8 Disagree2

Well that would have been a short meeting with Southampton. After nic stopped laughing he would have politely provided directions to the nearest exit.

Agree11 Disagree3

Move on to other targets spend the money on players who want to join our team not ones who are going to upset team morale

Agree5 Disagree1

A that's classic! He can't be on more than 15K-20K a week at Celtic currently

Agree5 Disagree0

If these demands are true then wanyama can do 1 as we want players with desire to be great not desire just to be rich also in response to an earlier post when ramires came he spoke about being paid around the 50,000 mark so that is currently our highest earning figure

Agree5 Disagree0

Wanyama is on holiday at the moment and has been reported as stating that he will bide his time before committing to a destination. "I have just heard of the same interest in the media and currently I am on holiday enjoying myself. "I will speak to my agent to find out the true position, " said the Kenyan. "For now I want to enjoy my holiday. "

Copied from the Scottish herald.

So it's his agent throwing out the numbers. Victor will sit back on holiday and wait to see who comes closest.
No way this can be done before July 1st. A situation nc will lose patience with I'm sure.

Let's move on

Agree6 Disagree0

Apparently he is currently only on 8k at celtic

Agree2 Disagree0

I heard that we've agreed personal terms with wanyama but his agent wants a big signing fee

Agree6 Disagree3

He has come back off holiday to speak about terms it is stated in the media a couple of days ago so he did come back.

Agree0 Disagree5

Simple thing is wanyama is worth them wages and if you can't afford them then he will move to a team that can and it will b your lose as that guy is 1 of the very best cdm and anyone who watches football would know that

Agree3 Disagree10

Wanyama is on 4k per week at celtic and celtic were going to offer him 25k a week and wanyamas agent said Southamptons offer was not much better than celtics.

Agree2 Disagree3

Have heard that ramirez is currently on 55,000 a week but lamber and lallana both have clauses in their contracts that state they will always be paid as much as the highest earner so if we did pay wanyama that ammount we would also be payin rickie and adam the same

Agree2 Disagree4

Just shows how little we all know if its going from he wants the earth to he hasn't seen it yet to his agent wants a big fee. wonder if the truth is even in there somewhere

Agree3 Disagree0

Never understand why clubs are expected to pay players' agents, surely they are working on behalf of the player, so should be paid by them?!

Agree6 Disagree0

I think that this situation shows Saints position clearly.
1) We want to sign quality players to improve our team and add a new level of quality to our team.
2) We are asking these players to believe in the vision of Nicola Cortese, but won't over pay or be held to ransom.
3) Non Believers will mock our ambition, and many of our targets will only be willing to play for Southampton if they have a silly payday, or request silly money to ensure we don't sign them.

4) We will find players with great quality, that buy into Nicola's vision, and they will be announced on the official Saints web site.

In Saints we trust!

Agree9 Disagree0

Im sorry but the very best players which the club want will not come unless paid very decant money £55k a week is nothing in today's market it seems like saints have the ambition but don't want to pay the wages that the best players require you can't have one without the other.

Agree0 Disagree3

U can tell the rumour was made up from the start. Any club, not just Cardiff, would match his ridiculous demands if they didn't match celtics valuation, including us!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the wage system here works well, players have to come in at relatively low wages and show their worth to earn more. Gives them serious incentive to produce rather than them knowing they have so many hundred thousand in the bank guaranteed so they don't need to care (i. e. the QPR system).

Agree3 Disagree0

85k a week? that's top four club wages. Do agents think that every player in the EPL earns 100k a week? It would not suprise me if you would struggle to get a squad of 22 players from the EPL who actually get the 150k a week people think they all earn. In short, I hate agents.
