Jordy Clasie being linked again by a lot of dutch media. Apparently missed training today too. I thought he was going to Porto? Could be something in it?

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Feyenoord have stated that he will not being leaving this summer but we all know every club and player has a price.

Agree7 Disagree7

Certainly the type of player we desperately need!

Agree5 Disagree11

IF we did get clasie. would we be willing to do a swap plus cash with townsend and spider?

Agree3 Disagree11

Spider stays! end of
not too sure if we desperately need clasie as i'm not too sure where he would play. a pacey winger is what we need and we are linked to nathan redmond

Agree9 Disagree2

I hope we can get him - class player! At the same time, we need to hold onto Spider.

Agree4 Disagree4

If Morgan doesn't go this window he will in jan so getting clasie in now would be good business as it gives him time to settle in rather than scrapping round in jan and chucking him straight in

poor old ricky, what must he think now Liverpool have got balottellie what is he now 4th or 5th choice striker, he will never get a game, let's give them there 4 million back and bring ricky home, on a serious note I think if we can get a pacey winger . maybe Redmond and vlaar or dawson think we be ok, coyr

Agree8 Disagree2

Dawsons gone hull mate

gonna take it back!! after watching the game tonight I think he might be playing next week, any news on Redmond ed?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - no mate sorry.}

Schneiderlin needs to be sold now to maximise income, whilst negotiating a deal for Townsend; I understand talks continue between Spurs and Saints.

Unfortunately, Southampton painted themselves into a corner with a (albeit vague) declaration that Schneiderlin wouldn't be sold.

Clasie would be an excellent signing but there isn't that much money to spend, despite what some naive people think.

Agree2 Disagree13

Naive? we have the 5th richest owner in english football but she is not willing to put her hand in her pocket. she wants $ out of us. we netted 200m from sky transfers and our 8th place. we have put back 40m whilst ruining the fantastic relationship the squad had. the only reason why spider hasn't been sold is because his "premium value" (which every player at SFC has) is 27m. tottenham are not even close to this price and never will be.

Agree4 Disagree9

Dave you seem obsessed with the fact that there isn't much money to spend, when our manager has clearly stated he wants two more deals done by the end of the window which will cost money which we do have, Shneiderlin is not going, how many times does the board or Koeman have to say? It comes up in every post or pre match interview and the answer is the same.

Said it recently about Rickie and everybody, well just about, thought I was talking nonsense. Why would he go to Liverpool and never play a full match ever again. Should have stayed here and been a massive part of our rebuilding plan. He was great for us and the supporters loved him so I think he got carried away with his dream and never actually thought about the reality. Get him back on loan in January? Wouldn't be surprised. Let me guess Agree 1 Disagree 14??

"Why would he go to Liverpool"?

MONEY!

Same reason why the other players have gone, yet I keep seeing suggestions on here that we sign this guy Mark or "a big name". So, we get rid of players because we can't pay £100k week, but we will then sign replacements who want £100k/wk?LOL

Agree0 Disagree2

St Sam: what I am obsessed with is this naive belief that we have millions to spend. We don't. £200 million is laughable.

There is about £10-£20 million left to spend on fees alone.

And the reason I am concerned is that fans delusions quickly turn to disillusionment. Expectations have to be realistic.

And to prove the point: I wasn't alone when I warned back in May that Southampton would lose several first teamers. It happened, quickly followed by anger, bitterness and disappointment. All of that was avoidable if fans had been realistic and understood how the market works.

Now we have a better perspective developed and cause for some moderate optimism

Agree1 Disagree1

How many do you think would have left with cortese still there? no one expects us to spend 200m.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2014 10:34:37
Cortese wouldn't be there and nor would the Leibherr money. If Cortese had carried on spending like he did ( and also making bad investments in players ) KL would have pulled out by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

And cortese would have found other investors. he always said if she pulled out he could find someone else. it was cortese that found markus not the other way round.

Agree0 Disagree0

SaintGibbs: the same players would have left. Cortese would have made no difference. Players decide transfers

Apparently we have contacted Toby Alderweireld of Atletico Madrid. Toby Alderweireld wants to move to the Premier League and has found his chances limited at Atletico Madrid. What a signing this would be! But what do you guys make of this?

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Just seen this on the metro website, it says he's only £6 million as well! He would be a great signing, solid and can provide cover at right back as well. He's definitely the one of the types of player we need right now

Agree7 Disagree5

Would be a great signing but can't see it unfortunately. Unless Koeman wants to change formation to 3-5-2 then I don't think he will be looking for a stronger back-up starter than Yoshida. Gardos is Lovren's replacement, and Fonte deservedly starts in the right sided slot.

He'll probably end up at Man United if anywhere, considering how poor their defence is atm!

Agree4 Disagree4

The other issue we might have is commitment, he's undoubtedly a talented centre-back, so would he stick with Saints if a bigger club came looking?

Agree4 Disagree2

I was told we would not be buying another CB. Think this is just paper talk. would be a very good signing and we were watching him last year.

Agree6 Disagree3

I agree he would be a great signing If I was Koeman I'd sign him and get rid of hooiveld

Agree9 Disagree2

Why not get this guy to play at right back and push Clyne up the pitch as a winger? - look at what happened with Bale when given that chance. Always thought that Chambers and Clyne should have started together last season in that setup.

Agree8 Disagree2

Arsenal want to sign him. I think he would go there over us but you never know!

Agree4 Disagree2

We need THREE signings this week. CB and two goalscorers/assist players. If we don't score goals we'll never survive.

Still think Redmond, Vlaar and one other would complete the job.

Koeman recently said that he was not looking for another centre back, a winger and maybe another is what he said. I posted a few weeks ago that Saints will not score many but will not concede many and that is exactly what is happening, 12 1-0/2-1 wins and 12 draws is my prediction. Thoughts?

Agree3 Disagree7

Would love this to happen. Confirmed by a Belgian journalist on twitter.

Agree5 Disagree3

There is a German site; www.transfermarkt. de that is very interesting, shows the player movements and values on a worldwide basis. It is showing that Saints are still looking at Phillipp Wollschied of Bayer Leverkusen, % chance 28% and rising. Hamburg are also interested

Agree2 Disagree4

The lack of goals is the main worry. CB is not a priority with a week left in the market. as I said we sold 41 of 54 of last seasons goals. huge risk. as strange as it may sound I think gardos will add a slight attacking threat with his ability to play from the back.

Agree3 Disagree5

J Rod got 15 prem goals lat year so not sure that adds up St Gibbs but I get your point

Agree3 Disagree1

Fair point its around that ball mark anyway. it was on tv.

Agree1 Disagree1

If its on tv it must be true ;)

Agree2 Disagree2

Wow SaintsGibbs! Could you be more wrong.

Lambert (13/14 PL Goals)
Lallana (10/11 PL Goals)
Lovren (2/3 PL Goals)
Osvaldo (3 PL Goals)

I make that a max of 31 goals sold.

Rodriguez (15 PL Goals)
Schneiderlin (4/5 PL Goals)
Davis (3/4 PL Goals)
Fonte (3/4 PL Goals)
Clyne (1 PL Goal)
Gallagher (1 PL Goal)

30 goals?

. can't think of anymore scores off the top of my head. But I don't believe we've sold more than half of our goals!

Agree3 Disagree0

I do get St Gibbs point though as our the only 3 players to score regularly for us last year were Lallana, J Rod and Lambert, 2 have gone and the other is injured, in Tadic I think we can expect a similar amount of goals to Lallana, Pelle is to replace Lambert and I reckon he can deliver on that and let's hope Jay comes back all guns blazing!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry. in future I will trawl through records and double check quotes I hear on a certain top sports news channel.

Agree0 Disagree0

26/52 is the correct figure. next time I will check.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the injured j-rod out of that sum and its 41/52

Has any of the Ed's, got any idea who saints will target in the wing positions?

{Ed001's Note - not heard anything new recently. Sorry. Though Rodriguez is seen as fitting in there when he is back, and you are trying to sign Townsend. Maybe Koeman sees that as enough?}
