Lucas ( liverpool ) just befriended coutinho on instagram, does this mean he is on his way to them ? Well he sounds a bit of a moody git so no loss really. {Ed001's Note - they are friends anyway, so it doesn't mean anything.}

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Media reckon he has all but joined Liverpool. I want to see the best play for us but I really think we may have dodged the proverbial bullet here.

Agree5 Disagree10

Yeah, I agree. Concerned this guy could be a massive flop. Inter Milan say in one breath that he's "the future" of the club, and in the next are happy to let him go for 13 million when he's achieved nothing.

Agree4 Disagree4

Agreed. When we signed Ramirez for roughly the same, he was playing regularly for Bologna. He'd scored 8 or so goals in the previous season and was regarded as one of the best young attackers in the Serie A. Why on earth would we pay the same money for someone who isn't even getting game time?

Well all these stupid rumours posted on here seems to be not true. all this nonsense about done deals, agent in Southampton - medical etc are just people getting the fans hopes up. it now looks like Coutinho is on his way to Liverpool as Milan likes what Liverpool are bidding. So I think Saints should forget this and move on to other players who wants to play for Saints but with the window closing on Thursday we need to move on and get any signings done quickly.

Agree3 Disagree1

I love how everyone was saying they were excited and hoped they got him. Then a rumour comes Liverpool are in pole position which I don't believe and now they had a lucky escape. Makes me laugh.

Agree5 Disagree3

Initially I was really excited about the Coutinho transfer, but as it has dragged on, the price has gone up and up, and the player and (apparently) stated his reluctance to move to Southampton, I would be perfectly happy to ditch the deal. In my opinion Callejon would be a much better deal (little older, more experienced, more versatile) for the same price. {Ed002's Note -

Agree2 Disagree2

That's assuming callejon would fancy life at Saint Marys

Piccolo Francesco has tonight flown to Zurich with Philippe Coutinho to complete a five year contract with Southampton football club.

The Brazilian playmaker was due to meet his new team mates in Barcelona on Thursday but a pre arranged commitment could not be changed.

Believable9 Unbelievable18

His name is Salamio Peronio Pizzario

Agree0 Disagree2

Wrong... According to reports in Italy, Saints have not agreed a fee with Inter for Coutinho. Inter want a minimum of 13M Euros (approx £11M), and Saint's top bid was 12M.

News breaking tonight in Italy is that Liverpool have agreed in principle to bid 13M, and expect a formal bid to follow.

If Cortese wishes to sign Coutinho, he will need to increase his offer by at least 1M Euros

Agree4 Disagree5

I hope Cortese doesn't.

Hi ed is it true saints have given up on coutinho due to him saying he prefers Liverpool and have saints bid for Hoffenheim midfielder Roberto Firmino {Ed001's Note - the talk of him saying he prefers Liverpool has no solid basis, it is extrapolated from the fact he told a Liverpool player he would like to play for them. There was no solid interest from Southampton or anyone else at the time, so no one else was mentioned. The hold up is Inter trying to get more money, they want more clubs to enter the bidding so they can afford the player they want.}

German newspaper Spiegel reporting Saints made a €10m bid for Hoffenheim midfielder Roberto Firmino. no word from clubs yet.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Would probably be quite the signing, another very talented Brazilian youngster, where do they get them all from?

Very reliable sources are saying Coutinho is done deal. Also loan deal for unnamed Barca player looking highly likely. Rumours are that deal for Villa on loan is in pipeline. You heard it first!

Agent Oz Saint

Believable12 Unbelievable18

Can you name your source? All sites are saying different things and it would be nice to conformation on sfc main site coyr

Agree7 Disagree3

This is not a done deal! coutinho has said this morning that he does not want to join saints and has told the club to hold on for more money from liverpool as he want to join them. in desperation for money they could relent and accept liverpool's bid whether ours is bigger ot not. this is a difficult one and i cannot see this deal happening but does coutinho know how ambitious saints are?

Agree7 Disagree10

Done deals is only done when the information comes from official saints!

Agree7 Disagree3

If the kid prefers Liverpool fair play let him go Liverpool are bigger than us and offering potentially European football, I would rather have someone who wants to fight for the team

Agree9 Disagree2

Yeah if he wants to go liverpool let him go there, I want players at my club that want to play for us not players coming here because their first choice couldn't afford to pay the same amount of money

Agree5 Disagree2

I agree stuff the kid. I don't want anyone coming to Southampton if they don't want to be here.
He can shove any contact we give hime up his .....
Lets bring people to the club who want to be here.
Liverpool won't be winning any trophies at all the next 5 years but either will we

Agree6 Disagree5

You heard it first?? ha scroll down you muppet its all been silly talk that won't happen the last week

Agree3 Disagree2

Want to go there. Want to stay here, Don't want to be there. Do we really need a 6 year old spoilt brat? Surely for £10m we can get someone just as good who actually wants to play football.

Agree5 Disagree3

I agree totally. The kid's a prodigious talent no doubt. But the football world is full of unfulfilled potential. As yet, he's done nothing that goes even close to justifying a £13m price tag.

Aussie Saint

Agree2 Disagree1

The player has not come out and said he wants a move to liverpool, a few days ago he spoke to the media and said he wanted to stay at Inter & prove himself, it looks like Inter need the money so he has little choice but to move to the highest bidder

Agree1 Disagree1

Reading the posts above it seems to me at least, that unless Coutinho has been quoted that he does or does not want to go hear or there, should we jump down his throat? Lets not jump the gun, I don't trust the media or players agents their motives are self affacing to say the least!

Agree2 Disagree1

Hope he doesn't join ... agree with above posts ... Saints are team built with players who are ready to fight. 10mln for a kid who doesn't want to play for us and hasn't even proven himself ... NO TKS. Lets get Biglia instead.

Agree3 Disagree2

Just like to know how everybody knows all these things. I honestly can not see Coutinho saying all these things, it would'nt be in his interest or his agent or his clubs. Just think people should be careful what they say it could jeapordise what we think of the player.

Agree4 Disagree1

Might be worth mentioning, he never actually said he doesn't want to come to Southampton, it's been hugely taken out of context in media chinese whispers..

Agree4 Disagree1

I have heard that tottenham have now bid and can see us losing out on this one

Agree1 Disagree4

If we fail in Coutinho bid we should go in for that Paulinho guy inter are after!

Agree3 Disagree1

Bored with this one now - apparantly Spurs are in for him too and he hasn't expressed any desire whatsoever to join us - forget him and move on would seem to be the best way forward.
Go for a player who actually wants to play for us.

Agree2 Disagree4

I've not read one credible source saying that he doesn't want to join Southampton, nor seen him quoted saying it either. It just seems to be stuck on the end of any article about him in the Liverpool Echo

Agree3 Disagree1

I'd rather get Ince for much less IMHO and who knows in the English League he could become a far more valuable asset than Coutinho who hasn't played here before. Also our first choice wingers are Puncheon and Lallana and they don't deserve to be dropped even for a 10m player

Agree5 Disagree2

How many more times must I remind people Adam Lallana is NOT a winger!
