Hi Eds

Is Schneiderlin staying or going? If he's going, where to? I need to know who to back for the title.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He will be going.}

I don't see how spiders transfer changes a 2 horse title race.

Dont forget the ~ £30 million + we get on our books to go and use elsewhere - its not the worst position to be in. Schneiderlin deserves to move up - he is good enough and stayed last season - so respect there.

Clyne - he will be paid more - simple as that he has gone for the money - but then again he grew up in poverty in Brixton and probably has his close family to look after too - and he will get a better run at Engerland being in Liverpool - we will probably lose 2 players every year - that's just the way it is until we play CL - and even then we have a far lower wages ceiling than MANU etc.

Power to the people.

I suspect you are correct FU2 except for the England bit. He will do well to maintain his England place at Liverpool as I do see him coming under a lot of pressure at Liverpool and I don't think he has enough talent to deal with that.

I think we are all missing something here . We have to accept that we are not one of the BIG clubs but we have got some excellent players procured by the club over recent years and also the tremendous academy which has made us some serious money . We will not be a top four club in the near future unless we invest heavily in ground expansion and also be prepared to put mega money in . Unfortunately in this league he who has the most money will be in the CL places and the rest will fight out to be 5th or 6th . We did a fantastic job to get where we are in such a short space of time but I think that is it now , we have gone as far as we can go unless the board does a Jack Walker and buys the league . Our owners are business people and don't just throw money around like confetti unlike City , United etc. who just will just keep shelling it out until they get there . I would rather be us and keep striving to be the best whilst acting responsibly .

We have only really scratched the surface when it comes to improving the club's commercial standing, and that's where the money is really at. As Ralph likes to say it's a product, and although for a football fan it's not nice to hear it described that way, we need continue to be inventive and play exciting attractive football so we can market Saints to a larger worldwide audience.

We could get as close as possible to having a better team than Spurs or Liverpool, but it will be hard for us to sustain that position until we have a much bigger annual turnover. We're on the right track, but it will be years until we really see a difference.

I think we have done far more than scratch the surface my friend. We were recently announced as the fastest growing brand in world football! What more do you want from a club in league 1 less than a decade ago??

Esso, we are a little fish in a big pond ATM, despite the fact we were indeed the fastest growing brand last season and that is fantastic. However to breach the top 6 and sustain it we will need big sponsor deals, and a much larger global presence than we currently do. There's so much untapped potential, that's why we've only scratched the surface of a much bigger cash pile!

Our annual turnover is nowhere near the figures it could be, but so far the club is doing everything right to encourage growth to the Saints brand and value of the club.

I think we will continue to build each year. We will always struggle to be a guaranteed top for club, but if we improve year on year, then we would be ready to pounce if the any of the top four underperform like last season.
Spider is replaceable, for all we know he could really struggle at the top level, just like other departures have found out.
Not fussed on Clyne leaving. I preferred chambers as a right back than Clyne. He was very average second half of lady season. Hardly ever bombed forward like he did, and defensively is very average imo

Interesting points Saintsmiff, and to add to the Morgan being replaceable line I was watching some of his highlights from the 2013/14 season and I'd say he played a much more free roam role than he did last season. If you get a chance watch it and you'll see how he was a much better creative outlet as well as positionally being far more advanced during attacking play. And as it happens that would be just how Clasie would be if he were to sign as Morgan's replacement.

NC bid accepted. Bollox to him and LFC. What do you get when you keep buying players from a 7th/8th placed team? 7th, 8th.

Picture removed from the OWS.

More rotten eggs now at 'pool than in China.

Looking at comments from their own supporters, they are not enthusiastic about this signing. I suspect this move will end badly for the player and his career.

Yeah I noticed that too, apparently they were hoping for Augsburg's Baba Rahman, so I say let's sign him up ourselves!

All a cunning plan by Saints. For us to achieve CL we need to do better than Liverpool. No better way than to sell them our average players, or those at those at the end of their careers at high prices and then replace them with better. Simples.

I love the fact that Liverhampton keep signing our championship and mediocre premier league stars. In fact I actually laugh my FAO.
It allows us to use the money to buy better up and coming players that we can also sell in the future for a profit and hopefully become a better team on the process.

I believe that in the board and our fantastic manager, that we can actually progress and achieve more than they can , if not this year , then maybe next year. Whichever way it goes I seriously think that they think they are buying our so called better players
to be better than us in the coming seasons. Well again I think that we are more astute than that and more astute than the Liverhampton board!
We have progressed year on year for a while now and now it is time to show our worth and get behind the board and manager and show our appreciation for what they are doing.
Good riddance to Clyne who apparently had his head turned by Jamie Carragher after the game against the scousers earlier this season.

I wish Morgan all the very best for the future and thank him for his services over the last 8 years.
For us Saints it is onwards and upwards .

Teams like liverpoo listen to the pundits and believe the hype after one good season and the players believe thier own hype before you know it you got a 30 mill bench warmer

I don't think it's a sustainable policy, to continually sell your best players and bring in cheap, unproven replacements, yet still keep improving the team. Saints will only get away with it for so long.

If it was that easy, every club would do it.

Cedric isn't at Clyne's level. If he becomes the first choice (the only choice) RB, that'll be a big downgrade.

It's obviously too early to judge on Saints' summer trading - there's plenty more twists and turns to come - but they're going to lose three key starters, Schneiderlin, Clyne and Alderweireld, and I fear they'll struggle to find replacements of anywhere near similar standard.

I think we're in for a bumpy ride this summer.

I think we're being unfair to Clyney. He's proved himself with us, he doesn't want to stay as he see bigger opportunity elsewhere. So he's told us now so we can make some profit and look elsewhere.

Yes it hurts, but what happened to giving him our thanks for what he did for us and wish him the best at Liverpool?
We're Saints fans and should always look out for our own. If we behave like this, who'll ever want to grace St. Mary's again?

I think it's going to be like this for many a summer to come. Here's hoping Koeman can pull together yet another stroke of genius.

Sorry qwerty but there is no way Cedric is a downgrade, especially on the Clyne we saw after Xmas! Just wait and see.

@qwerty not every team has our scouting network, watch the documentary and you'll see that the club know the exact players to sign whilst having a backup to that, and a backup to that and so on

Clyne had a pretty poor 2nd half of last season and was kept out the team for the most part of the season before by Chambers who was arguable playing in his 2nd position. decent player but looks like another lallana type - let the hype go to his head and isn't really as good as he thinks.

Also, to write off Cedric who's virtually first choice for Portugal going forward (who let's face it are a better team than England(where a CB and MF are preferred to Clyne)) without him even playing a game is wrong

Schneiderlin is a quality player yeah but difficult to replace? Not so much, there's plenty of great defensive midfielders around - Clasie, Song, Sven Bender, Gueye - all great players that we've been linked to. Different types of DM to Schnederlin but quality all the same.

Alderweireld - again, top quality player and in all honestly we look like favourites to get him but let's face it he's not the only quality defender around, especially in the quoted 18 million or less range. Would I like to keep Alderweireld? Sure. But just like Lovren when he left, we could sign someone and be asking 'Alderweireld who?' By Xmas

Don't write us off just yet.

I agree that I respect Shneiderlin's decision to leave but Clyne. his comments suggested he'd stay and to leave for Liverhampton is disappointing, Cedric looks more than good enough to replace him and Shneiderlin isn't impossible to replace either. We've been linked to some top players in that position so far in Song, Krychowiak, Bender, Classie. all top players, I'd love us to go for Dealph if the £10m release clause in his contract is true that has been rumoured in the papers today
