Is their any truth in the David Villa rumours?

Believable7 Unbelievable9

The only truth would be we could never afford his wages. That puts it to bed before it even starts!

Agree12 Disagree4

I heard Barca will not sell or loan but that was on Sky but I am sure he would go to a bigger club and I am a Saints fan so I would love this to be true.

Agree5 Disagree3

No but it would be amazing

Agree5 Disagree1

No don't be so daft

Agree7 Disagree2

I wish!!

Agree6 Disagree1

Bookies seem to think it could happen. but I don't know where they get their info from. wouldn't it be lovely!

Agree3 Disagree2

About as much as me doing rude things to charlize theron whilst angelina jolie begs to join in.
He is not going to join us.

Agree12 Disagree1

Really can't see David Villa coming. Would be a bigger coup than when we got Keegan IMO and the modern game has much bigger wages. His wage and ambition are well beyond what we can offer I'd expect.

It is nice to be mentioned in the same breath though and be competing with the mighty liverpool for signings.

Jannersaint

Agree4 Disagree2

None. It's other fans trying to make us look stupid. Don't rise to it.

Agree3 Disagree1

Could be as we've been made 3rd favourites to sign him now

Agree2 Disagree5

It isn't going to happen, I will be surprised if anymore signings come our way this window.

Agree4 Disagree4

The guys won loads of trophies etc in his career, Whos to say helping a club acheive its ambitions wouldn't be a goal either? Would be nice, But I can't see him coming too us tho :P

Agree1 Disagree1

I heard we are looking in to Lucas Biglia

is it true

Agree1 Disagree1

Check Twitter, a saints fan posted a picture of the email request he sent to for him to put £5 on David Villa to come to saints. When you send a request they add it to the list of odds, assuming the person has an idea it may happen. Was an amibitous bet by someone, nothing more

Agree1 Disagree0

We need a new striker, lambert in good and jay is good but lambert is slow. we need someone who can save us.

Agree0 Disagree6

We don't need a new striker, we have Lambert, Rodrigues, when he returns from ACoN we have Mayuka and we have Lee available as well. Maybe a new striker would help but the team isn't going to be rubbish without.

Agree6 Disagree1

Strikers are not important, we need a extra winger, seeing Guly play is painful. Good rotation for Lallana or Gaston giving them a rest when needed.

Hi eds do you no of any interest in calijon from us or is it just rubbish {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Callejon.}

Believable4 Unbelievable7

I wonder how people can agree or disagree with some of these posts. Do you disbelieve the Ed, the rumour....what?

(I'm sure this post will get agree and disagree votes for comedy value)

Apparently we've had a bid to loan Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal rejected at some point in the window.
I can't see why we'd want/need him tbh...

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Source?

I think cork/butterfield are good cover. Jenkinson was only good for championship level for me on Football Manager, I think that's the case in real life too.

Agree2 Disagree6

I presume you mean Richardson is good cover, not Butterfield.....

Agree5 Disagree2

Source would be tv. But, don't forget Richardson as well, good at getting assists and a decent crosser of the ball. We should have enough cover at right back, with Jack Cork being capable of playing there and Danny Butterfield (a natural right-back) as well like you said. Its left back I would be more worried about if you're on about wing backs, we have Luke Shaw and then Danny Fox as cover, and I don't think he has really proven himself at Premier League level yet really, but is now a Scotland international (although not really that hard to be one at the moment xD).

Liverpool looks to have had a fee agreed with Inter for Coutinho (Sources: tv and tv Final Score) so it looks like we might have to move on from that one...

Agree6 Disagree0

Danny Butterfield isn't in the 25 man squad so is ineligible to play for us in the Prem.

Agree1 Disagree2

Sky have also said it.

Thing is when Clyne got injured we played Cork at right back. Not Frazer or Butterfield.

Agree4 Disagree0

I don't know where you got that from. Danny Butterfield is in the 25 man squad as far as I am aware, remember that youngsters (I believe it is under 23 or 21) don't have to be part of the 25, for example Jack Stephens and Luke Shaw...

According to club spokesman two new Southampton signings to be unveiled tomorrow (Sunday).

One from Italy, one from Spain.

- Jonny

Believable6 Unbelievable14

Coutinho and callejon maybe?

Agree4 Disagree11

Who was the spokesman?

Agree6 Disagree1

Coutinho on his way to Liverpool after clubs agreed a fee. He's a big time wouldn't fit in down saints I'd prefer the passion of puncheon of late

Agree9 Disagree3

By saying 'club spokesman' you infer its an official statement from within the club which is simply not true. Southampton Football Club never discuss transfers til the contracts are signed and its on the official site !

Agree5 Disagree1

Not exactly.
I'm guessing your referring to Jordan Sibley's tweet where he said we'll have 2 BIG exclusive interviews tomorrow.

Interviews, not signings..

Agree6 Disagree2

If you mean Sibley he didn't say 2 signings he said 2 big interviews 1 in the sunday sun and 1 on sky guess it will be interview with the Don

Agree4 Disagree1

Tv said Jim White has an interview with Cortese at 6pm on tv Sunday.

Hope that helps

Agree3 Disagree1

So Coutinho has gone elsewhere, oh well like I said to Portsmouth supporter today at 5pm you have to be pragmatic about these things....at least it's not snowing.

Agree4 Disagree0

Classic example of chinese whispers. Most people actually read it as it was, and as mentioned above, exclusive interviews.

Agree0 Disagree0

One in The S*n on Pochettino whilst they were out in Spain and then one with tv this afternoon with Cortese explaining why he let Adkins go and his situation with MLT and fans.

Not really signings but who knows this is most probably a distraction to the media whilst deals are going on behind the scenes.

After Seemingly losing out to Liverpool for Coutinho, Southampton now turn their attention to Roberto Firmino of Hoffenheim

Believable7 Unbelievable8

Southampton's new manager seems to like the squad he is working with already, it seems this month he will only push to make 2 additions, he already has signed a new Centre back and it seems his other choice signing will be a Centre Forward/Winger. Several potential names have been mentioned such as Phillippe Coutinho and Jose Callejon. Further news is that Southampton have pulled out of the race to sign Lucas Biglia who it seems may not be leaving Anderlecht until the summer.

However Mr Cortese will still be out looking for bargains and I imagine that outside of the Centre Forward/winger Pochettino is after he will also find the cheap talent and attempt to bring it in.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Go all in on Wellington nem..

Agree13 Disagree2

This may be completely wrong, but according to Football Manager, Wellington Nem has a release clause in his contract of £3.5m. Is there any truth behind this? If so he'd be a steal!
SaintWestie

Agree1 Disagree3

Wellington Nem I think does have a release clause but I think it's around £10 million not £3.5million. Still would be worth a punt though at that price.
