Nicky maynard would only cost 2 mill as his contract expires next year. A move for joe lewis seems immanent, with bart not looking strong enough to break into kelvins boots. jay rodriguezs' deal only broke down due to the club being unable to offer him a contract. Expect hooivelt to be signed and st. ledger will come in. james beattie is on standby if all other stickers fail

Southampton with busy plans in January as Nigel Adkins believes depth will be a key factor if we are to get promoted. Jay Rodrigues (5.5mil), Nicky Maynard (2mil), Joe Lewis (1.1mil), and expect an italian attacking midfielder to arrive on loan. Hooivelt will be signed for a fee of 400, 000 and a loan offer will be made for Sean St. Ledger as he is currently unhappy at Leicester City.
I can't see Maynard going for £2m. More like £6.5m.
I don't think Rodriguez will be coming as a deal for him already fell through literally at the 11th hour most likely because of his greed... why else come to the stadium, pass a medical and terms not be agreed?
We do need another proven striker with pace, but I don't believe any hype as saints have proven in recent years that business will done quietly and professionally.
I hope Jos Hooiveld signs and Jacob Butterfield would be a great signing especially as we need some more goal threat from midfield.
Perhaps a couple of talents signed from European clubs like we did De Ridder / Guly would be better than paying typical English inflated fees for players that may not cut it. COYR!
