C'EST OFFICIEL: Jeremain Lens a rejoint l'équipe de Southampton

just saw this on a french site but it was posted on the 19th of this month, are we being kept in the dark or are they completely misguided?

Believable7 Unbelievable3

They also say we have signed Buttner. Clearly misguided lol

Agree6 Disagree2

Apparently there will be a new signing for the Ajax game?
Is there any truth in this?

I would guess that French rumours sites are as reliable as English ones!

Agree7 Disagree1

They're misguided...the website also says we have signed buttner

Agree5 Disagree1

Completely misguided.

JJ

Agree2 Disagree2

I would think that would be the first bid we went in with. As I understand, we have gone back with an improved offer.

Agree1 Disagree1

What site did you see this??

Agree1 Disagree1

Luciano Narsingh gone 2 psv which could mean lens coming to saints i hope he does but just speculation at the moment

Agree4 Disagree1

I'm starting to think that this won't happen, even if a bid is aceppted he still has to leave a top Dutch team with European or champions league (dunno how they did) for a newly promoted team that this year will try to establish itself in the top league without European football.

Getting concerned with the lack of transfers. Fact is we still have a lot of the same players we had in League 1. We need another 3/4 players to ensure a decent season. LB, CB, winger, AM

Believable5 Unbelievable9

Have a bit of patience fellah - we have been quietly going about our business and so far it's been well good. You don't just dive in on the first day the window opens and sign every money-grabbing journeyman who's out of contract. You wait and assess where the best deals and the best players are gonna come from then you sort it out, ideally, not in the media spotlight, but behind closed doors.

Agree7 Disagree0

Kelvin has played PL before, Fox and hoiveld signed last year from Championship and SPl, Fonte and butterfield signed from championship teams. Lallana and Schneiderlein great prospects virtually from academy. Cork signed from PL (Chelsea) De ridder from the belgian league, lambert and rodriguez are officially the top 2 strikers in the championship. How is that L1 team exactly? In nigel we trust
Bobo

Agree7 Disagree1

I agree with the CB (x2) but I think the players deserve the chance. After all, QPR went for wholesale changes last year and they are the ones that struggled. Remember there is a great team spirit in the camp and the players have a desire to prove themselves.

Don't worry. NA said today [check BBC] there will definitely be more transfers, and we are focussing on building a more solid defence.

JJ

Agree3 Disagree1

Adkins told bbc that there will be signings, I guess it's just a matter of time. I do agree we need 3/4 signings and it's frustrating cos all Adkins says is that there a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes, but only time will tell

Mini-Saint

Agree2 Disagree0

Agree but remember a number of our top targets have fallen through lately. Don't want to rush into other possible targets and make poor signings. I reckon it will be a week or two until anything true and likely comes out the woodwork

Completely agree that's what readi g did, they got a bunch of half assed players who were out of contract that can't play with each other. We are waiting for the players that suit the way we play even then we won't pay silly wages. NC is a great businessman and will wait until everything is perfect.

Agree2 Disagree0

Can't agree more
Lambert Davis fonte schniderlin lallana all played 4 us in league 1 but are all quality but we need strengthen in defence 4 me
We need jermaine lens! Mark Davies
Take Martin Olson (Blackburn)at LB as he wants to play prem football or Neil Taylor or ryan Taylor and then caulker at cb or maybe heitanga and bassong! These would be good editions and realistic! What do you think?
HDsaints

Agree1 Disagree4

Go on the bbc nigel has said we will have more new players before season starts, just give him time to work his magic

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with HDSaints re Bassong would be a decent signing and I think Lens would make a huge difference..

I am interested to see the optimism in so many posts in NC and NA.. The most interesting stat I've seen recently is that NA is favourite for the first manager to get the sack - double the odds of the next highest. I do not trust! I dont understand the transfer strategy to date - I dont see how we need to tell the press we are looking to sign 2 centre backs.. Just puts the price up for when we come calling. The plan for J Rod is not clear at all - forward but we play right winger? Then we play Clyne right wing in the friendly.. Plain odd. We now bid multi millions for more central midfielders where that is our strength.. We have no time now for signings to be made and the team to settle before the season and we start with City, Utd and Ars in the first 4 games...

I'm firmly with the first guy - we need strengthening in these positions and we need to get on with it.. Remember how long Pardew got? NA may get about as long..

Agree1 Disagree5

I hate to slate any of our players, but I really Believe Fox is a huge liability as he will get ripped when he is constantly losing the ball or being stuck out of position. Davies will do a job for now. Fonte may struggle for pace but I do rate him along with Jos. I hope Clyne does the job, but may be found lacking in experience. Midfield is very young but technically good. Happy with Jay and Lambert up front. I can't see De Ridder, Guly, Sharp, Hammond, and quite a few others making a telling impact. We need some players to improve our squad. I'm not being impatient. I'm sure there is constantly things going on behind the scenes and that it is being done the right way. Just concerned that we are half way through our preseason training and the big kick off coming soon with a team that I believe may struggle to survive.

GK - Davies
LB - URGENT!!!
CB - Fonte (need cover)
CB - Jos (need cover)
RB - Clyne
LM - Lallana
RM - Chaplow
CM - Schneiderlain
CM - Davis
ST - Lambert
ST - Jay Rod

Agree3 Disagree7

Don't think Olsson is that good, I'd rather play Shaw if I had to choose.

Agree5 Disagree0

Fair enough we may get some more players, but we need to integrate them now, not when the season has kicked off!

Agree1 Disagree2

Less haste, more speed. Rushing to make lots of signings just to keep us fans happy is not the way to go. All potential signings are now multi-million pound investments - surely its worthwhile taking proper time over these to ensure its the right deal for SFC - even if that does mean losing out on a few. There are plenty of opportunities out there. Take your time, get the right players, get the best deal, negotiate from a position of strength, keep it out of the Press and don't pander to agents.

Well done Tim! Yours is a voice of sense. As for the whingers moaning about lack of signings, just grow up and reflect on where the club has come from and where it is now under the current ownership and management. Without their incredible efforts we could be in the same state as our neighbours, or even worse. Have a look at todays announcement about the Academy, recognise how this is about creating a club that has an objective to do things its own way. Yes, we will bring in more players but I would rather we take our time with it. We just do not want players who have the right technical skills but equally they should fit into the ethos of the club. That takes time and attention to detail and the track record of NC and NA to date is pretty solid, so get behind them and trust them to get it right. If they don't, I believe they will have genuinely tried their utmost and will sort out any glitches.
It could be that after this weekend some of the gaps we know need to be filled will no longer be so evident.
Whilst survival is important next season so is the development of the club along the lines that Cortese has planned, so don't be impatient and keep the faith. We will have some weeks in the Premiership when doubts will surface, but the club will get through that if the squad and supporters retain their confidence.

'less haste more speed' when your point is don't rush. Hmmm!

I've got to say that we're a well run club. Things are probably very different with the level of players we're looking at. Much more spout from agents in last two weeks tab the previous two years.

I think we will get a winger and CB or two. If not we have good options. Man Utd ran city close last year with a fad inferior squad. Team togetherness and good management are worth more than an unknown with a good highlight real on YouTube.
