Been told to keep an eye on happenings at St Mary's tomorrow by a mate who works for the club. I tried to get more information, but he insisted it's just what has been passed about by word and mouth. He may know a little more than he is letting on as he's given in to my persistence in the past and been right.
I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic.

I hope this finally means a few good signings are to be announced. The sooner they are wrapped up the better. Want a full squad ready to train at the start of the season (minus those on international leave obviously).

New kit
Agree6
Disagree1
Well. Unless your mate gets excited about new kits, he was talking rubbish
Agree3
Disagree0
My apologies for nothing exciting happened. Just posting what I was told.
I was aware that the kit was being announced. On the context of our conversation he implied that there could be something else announced. Although I can't see it myself now, it would have been logical to announce any signing with the new kit.
Agree2
Disagree1
I think if we are too announce a new signing it'll be later in the day so as to not retract from the excitement of the new kit. They'll want the focus to be on the kit and the sales to start with before things move on to look at our latest piece of transfer work to try to build further excitement and potentially bring in further sales.
Agree0
Disagree1
Maybe not, one distracting from the other and all that.
Agree0

Terrible home kit, not sure about the away strip. Doesn't necessarily need to have stripes but needs more "RED AND WHITE!" could have gone for a reverse Ajax top? or maybe Old school Monaco?

Miroslav Stoch has signed for Southampton, this will be announced soon
Believable14
Unbelievable5
I am not sure if this would be good news or not. Doesn't strike me as a particularly impressive talent.
Agree7

I'd have to agree with you on this one - I have never been convinced by little wingers since McCant.
Agree2

And can you tell me how you know this?
Agree1

This is what he earns at fenerbache
Fenerbahce gave Stoch a two-year contract extension in 2012. Stoch is contracted to the club until 2015–16, making €1. 75 million and €15000 per match in 2012–13. He will earn €1. 75 million in addition to €16000 per game in 2013–14, €1.8 million plus €16000 per match in 2014–15 and €1.9 million as well as €17000 per game in 2015–16
hope saints are not as wasteful with their money {Ed003's Note - =-O }

Nothing wrong with little wingers do you remember the Councillor Mr Paine. Just wish the late great Ron Davies was still around to explain. Tricky quick player Stoch and I think would go well with Rickie and J Rod etc. Gastons skill and reading of the game would work well with him. Love Adam Lallana but needs to get his act together in front of goal.
Agree4
Disagree1
All I'm suggesting is not all wages on Football Manager are correct.
Agree4
Disagree1
Lallana not only needs 2 get his act together infront of goal he needs 2 sort it with corners and free kicks! Most of them either go out for a throw/goal kick or end up in the keepers hands! I'm amazed Pochettino ain't spotted it and stripped him of puttin the balls in!

I just have to ask. I keep hearing that most of the players we have gone for are turning us down leaving us with fewer and fewer options.
Putting aside all the various names that keep coming and going and all the obligatory, new signing announcements, I wondered if anyone has anything other than bluster to help calm my fractured nerves
Believable5
Unbelievable4
Not that many are actually turning us down. Their isn't really any evidence to suggest we ever were in for Osvaldo, just a link based on Pochettino and not a very strong one at that. As for Wanyama it seems to be a case of the agents were taking the piss and for Nainggolan he's picked to try to get to a big serie A club with clear interest in him which is understandable especially as he's based in Italy at the moment anyway.
Basically my message is relax. We are not going to get everyone we go in for. No club ever does. Even Manchester United lose out on players from time to time. But I'm sure their are plenty of high quality players willing to join us and Cortese will bring them in. Just give him time. Lovren was a good example.
Agree11
Disagree1
None of us know the facts. Wanyama is having his strings pulled by a mercenary agent, we don't want a player at £85k a week and a million ransom to the blood suckers do we.
If you look at the true transfers in the Premiership they are few and far between NC will have his targets and will win a couple I am sure. There is no panic. Ward-Prowse would do more than well, we have reinforced defence so 2-3 more signings and we are there. Looking forward to cheering on the mighty Saints in about 6 weeks time!
Agree5
Disagree1
It's not even July yet and people are already panicking. We have another 2 months of this yet.
Agree8
Disagree1
Panicking? No. Nervous? Yes. I don't want us to wait and wait and then we choose some at the end who don't have time to bed in before season starts.
I also remember him saying he would have more people lined up before the first of July. No doubting the intent and trying to get some in.
I'm just hopeful that he is being super sneaky

Can Pompey afford him?

St Etienne rejected €18m from Newcastle and accepted €20m from Anzhi. Although he wants to move to England.
Agree1

He would be amazing fast and scores loads of goals could play him on the right wing or cam
Agree1
Disagree1
He would be a brilliant signing, although I think to grab a player of that ability it would be a last minute thing like Ramirez. Him and more importantly his agent know that already top 6 clubs may be interested. I think it would turn out like anothe waynama. Unless he wants to further his career over a big pay packet.
Agree2

He's got great potential and is being hunted by the top clubs in European football

It's horrible, not buying that. how is that a saints kit, arrrgghhhh
Agree4
Disagree6
I don't care what it is like tbh, i'll still buy it and support the team, i'd only EVER refuse to buy a kit if they changed it to blue, just saying. I don't mind red/white or just red, people need to move on, just like the club has in recent years
Agree6
Disagree1
Sooooo! You hate and refuse to buy a kit you haven't seen yet!
Personally my favourite kits from the past didn't have stripes. Xerox kit, sash kit, all red with hire shoulders draper tools kit 1985-87, all red kit 1980 to 85 when we had our highest ever league finish.
Hope I'm never in the trenches with some of you lot. Stripes are NOT an integral part of our history. They are simply the most frequent occurring design in our home colours. I personally think a change in shirt design fits the new era. This is just my opinion!

You can't go turning your back on traditions like that^. Southampton are a red and white team. We are turning our backs on our history which includes an FA cup win and a league finish in 2nd.
Agree2

If its anything but equal amounts of red and white on the shirt its wrong.

An FA cup win that we were wearing yellow in I believe? I wasn't born so wouldn't know for sure ;)

As I said. We were in a red shirt with black shorts the year we finished second in the old first division.
As long as its red and white it'll be alright.

I was there at Wembley 1976 where the roar from the crowd was COME ON YOU YELLOWS!

When we finished second in 83/84 the shirt was red with a large white panel, Rank Xerox sponsered, and looked great. Unfortunately that same year our away kit was two shades of. BLUE

the supposed new kit pictures floating on twitter are photoshops put about by the club to get people talking about the new shirts
The new kits in acuuality are
home: red and white, reminiscient of the rank xerox kit from the early 80s
away: black and gold stripes
also do not be surprised if a new player or two are modelling the new kits
Believable6
Unbelievable13
It is the real kit meet bin in lorry that has loads of addias boxes with saints kit in and its the kit driver pull 1 out for me I don't like it
Agree1

Im pretty sure we won't have held back any signings to then show of during the kit release does this happen that often anymore? I can't remember the last time a player was revealed with the kit.
Please correct me if this is wrong i'm quite curious actually.

Victor Wanyama deal back on with Saints
Believable7
Unbelievable11
An article on tv app has comments from Neil Lennon, he mentions that Celtic are happy with the deal an it appears they want to sell, he also mentions it appears to be a third party (presumably agents) stopping any deal with saints, hoping this means that it's not wanyama holding on for more money, it's his agents trying desparately to get any extra cash possible! Come on NC, slap these agents down and get this beast to Southampton!
Agree7
Disagree3
It was never off in the 1st place. As it currently stands it is a bit of a "stand off" between the agents & NC. (We know who will win that one!). The agents are probably hoping someone else comes in & matches saints offer but if not & waynama moves nowhere this summer then the agent has completely screwed up. However, this deal is far from over.
Agree10
Disagree2
I I believe it's off. They have said that waynama agents and Southampton are miles apart in personal terms. I hope cortese is already looking somewhere else. I hope he hurries up and signs for somebody to put this story to bed
Saintsmiff
Agree5

Anything is possible but if he does come to us then his agent would still have egg on his face. I also have no doubt that we were looking elsewhere even before the bid was accepted.
Agree0

Surely this one should have died already.
Celtic said they thought our deal was good for the player and paid us some nice compliments.
Agent and?player said no. End of
Agree2
Disagree0
What's the hurry the transfer window doesn't officially open for a few more days plus over 50 days till the start of the season there is plenty of time. (Ever heard the story about the turtle and the hare)
Agree0
Disagree0
Player wants to move, Celtic are willing to sell, the only reason he hasn't signed yet is the agents ridiculous fee he's asking for, almost double what we paid to all agents last year
Agree1
Disagree0
As I understand it, Cortese has left them with a take it or leave it offer.

Saints new home and away kits to be revealed 2moro plus 2new signing! New sponsor too

Aap are our sponsors for 1 more year so you are wrong there! and therefore probably wrong with the 2 new signings as well!

Aap3 still have a year left so there won't be a new sponsor.

Aap3 have apparently pulled out, so their may be a new sponsor

- We tried to sign Astori, but in the end opted for Lovren
- Ramirez is happy here and he is not going anywhere.

Poch looking at Victor Ruiz defender from Valencia, Everton also looking.
Believable4
Unbelievable8
He looks good but do we (saints) need another centre back? We have seven already?
If we are genuinely going for another CB then it must be the exit door for Fonte and Jos I would think.
Agree7
Disagree2
This rumour only exists because Pochettino used to coach Ruiz.
Those that have been paying attention would be aware that Saints have been linked with almost every current and former Espanyol player since Poch arrived.
Aussie Saints
Agree8

I think Pochettino sees Victor Ruiz as someone who provide cover for both the centre back positions and the holding midfielder roles.
We need more depth in the holding midfielder role as we only have Cork and Morgan and as we play with two we need at least 3 to give us some options and some cover.
And I think it's safe to say one of Fonte or Hooiveld will be leaving St Mary's this summer - if not both of them - so we will need 1 if not 2 new defenders.

Miroslav Stoch has all but completed a move to Southampton from Fenerbache whilst Ever Banega and Erik Lamela are also close to signing. Double announcement rumoured on Friday with 2 of these.
Believable11
Unbelievable12
Stoch perhaps but Banega and Lamela? I think you are very hopeful mate. I hope I'm wrong. Also surely we will only go for both Stoch and Banega if Gaston is off in the other direction?
Agree5
Disagree3
I think we may be in for both regardless of losing Ramirez in order to provide some serious options. I would love to sign Lamela but that's just too high a price to pay I think.
Agree1
Disagree3
Lamela is priced at over 20 million. We won't spend that much on one player. Not considering we still need to strengthen other areas (i. e. back up full back, and a striker).
I've also heard Stoch is a done deal though. Not sure about banega.
Aussie Saint
Agree5
Disagree2
Banega would be a very nice signing, great vision and technical ability.
Lamela- WOW if we got him I would be absolutely delighted, and I think his complex ownership gives us an outside chance at it. Very very talented player who can shred defences up.
But Overall i'm not sold on Stoch yet, obviously if he signs i'll be right behind him and wish him the best. He had a thunderous strike and scores some wondergoals. but last season 0 goals in 2473 minutes of gametime and only 3 assists. His strength is his speed and turning, which makes me worried about his knee a little as well.

Agree4
Disagree0
From my sources all of this is within the realms of possibility & I'm picking up snippets that we are going to unveil a record £22m signing but i'm not sure who that is going to be at this point. Hopefully NC has walked away from the Wanyama saga & this has released additional funds to put the icing on the cake for another deal to go through.
Agree5
Disagree0
Stoch is more of a wide player isn't he? If so I can't see us signing Lamela as well
Agree3
Disagree0
Lamela's price is rumored to be 35M Euros.
I can't see him coming this year as it's too much, and too complicated a deal, but love it to be true.
I could however see us going back for him next year. I believe that next year it will be far easier for us to pick up the bigger signings that Don Cortese is after.
Agree0
Disagree0
I think Lamela is out of our reach. Too much interest from other clubs. Banega is just about in our reach. Stoch is very much in our reach.
Lenny
Agree2
Disagree0
If there was an ounce of truth in the Stoch rumours, then they wouldn't have surfaced repeatedly. I think he was Saints plan C or D at best if our other targets fell through. Which they haven't I would guess.
Agree0
Disagree2
Lovren deal was being kicked about in open for a short while too. Just because we are used to the "saints way" of keeping silent until the ink is dry, this is much more difficult to do in the PL. previous campaigns & different leagues ensured we could hroud our deals with a degree of secrecy but because of our ever increasing profile this is much harder to maintain.
