The only signing will be a Loan deal. I live close to JD and he said a midfielder could be on the way before Thursday.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Whos JD?

Agree3 Disagree2

He's the main character in Scrubs

Agree4 Disagree2

I guess JD would be Jason Dodd

Agree3 Disagree0

Jack Daniels?

Agree2 Disagree1

Jack Daniels maybe? Rumour does sound like the drink was talking... ;-)

Jannersaint

Agree6 Disagree1

I'm going to guess Jason Dodd.

Agree1 Disagree0

The JD he is on about living close to is a bottle of jack Daniels in his hand saints won't sign loan players and the manager said he likes the squad we've already got and hasn't thought about transfers so good chance no one will come in till the summer

Agree1 Disagree1

Of course the manager says the squad is strong. He isn't going to start rubbishing the players after a few days, is he? Means absolutely nothing, if players can be brought in that he rates he will do it, but January is all about agents trying to make money and Cortese will only allow deals that limit agents to a reasonable fee, so it will not be easy.

Billy Sharp could well be on the verge of a return to Southampton. Pochettino has been talking to Nicola Cortese about increasing the up front options and over talks seems to have convinced Cortese that Southampton could benefit from Sharp returning. Cortese is set to hold talks with Sharp tomorrow with Pochettino mediating the meeting, assuming things go well the loan spell at Nottingham Forest could be cut short with compensation in the region of 400k going to Forest and Sharp could be available to face Wigan!

Believable3 Unbelievable5

The recall option deadline passed on the 17th January. He is Forest's for the season and 400k isn't going to change their mind.

Agree5 Disagree3

Unfortunately the Billy Sharp loan does not have the option to recall the player

Agree6 Disagree4

Would love this to be true, he hasn't stopped scoring this season. Yes I know its the Championship etc, but even if he scored half of them goals in the Prem, he'd be on 5 for the season- more than punch, Guly, JRod, Lallana etc etc. Can't see it happening though. Shame.

Saint Christopher

Agree3 Disagree0

All loans have the option to be cancelled but may require a compensation fee, 400k is the valuation of the remaining loan.

Agree4 Disagree0

I would love to see sharp back, should never have loaned him out.

Agree6 Disagree0

Billy Sharp sharp sharp! love this guy but can't see him playing for us again :(

Agree4 Disagree0

This would be amazing but i'm cetrain this won't happen, as a real saints fan I would love this to happen and as a jeesture of goodwill i'd like to give them guly forever for free if we can have sharp back

st stuie

Agree4 Disagree2

What exactly happened there, I heard there was some sort of falling out?

Agree0 Disagree1

No there wasn't he cannot be recalled the recall deadline has passed he hasn't fallen out with anyone and cortese fell out with sharp and sharps agent

Agree0 Disagree0

IMHO judging by Billy Sharps repeated tweets re- Saints results he is very much still a Saint at heart. Also at the back end of last season he looked a little overweight, a tad short of pace despite shouting goals. He was loaned out because he wouldn't have cut it in the premier league and from what i've seen of him this season he's still very much a championship level player. I wish him all the best but don't expect to see him pull on a saints shirt again unless of course we are relegated.
Tomorrow or Thursday will see the addition of 2 players, a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder/wing Forward. I would imagine that also we may bring in another young right back to develop as cover for Clyne, although Cork can do that job if the right central player is brought in.
Lots of speculation flying around, the Barnsley rb could be the youngster. I would hope that the central mf has a Spanish speaking background, with a good command of English to help MP communicate and that the attacking player had a fair amount of pace.
I think the later will be Roberto Firmino and the central player likely to come from la liga

Danny Fox looks set to sign for Wolves for £300,000

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Bargain for that price, I'd like to see us keep him, not a bad player.

Agree6 Disagree9

Can't see Danny fox going for this price, more like 800k to 1m

Agree5 Disagree3

Doubt it very much, we need him if shaw gets injured!

Agree4 Disagree5

Ridiculous maybe on loan if we buy another fullback, he's also worth more than 300,000, you won't find any full international for that price

st stuie

Agree2 Disagree3

We are talking about a Scotland International to be fair. You could probably find a more expensive Cuban player. That said however he is worth way more than 300k

Agree3 Disagree0

We brought him for £1.8M why would we sell him for £300K!?

Agree2 Disagree0

Are you happy to have Fox till May 2015?

ince to saints

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Did you dream this rumour or have you got inside information?

Agree4 Disagree3

Don't think so

Agree4 Disagree2

Were is this from?

Trev saint

Agree1 Disagree2

Think this would be a great signing for now and the future, but we would need one more

Agree3 Disagree2

Can't see him going South of the M62.

Agree3 Disagree3

Considering the feelings between Blackpool and Southampton after the Saints tried to tap up Matty Phillips, I doubt Karl Oyston would even answer his phone (if he had one).

And Ince wants to play in the Prem.....I doubt he would join Southampton as youre not 100% to be there next season and after the way you treated Adkins I doubt many UK players would want to join a club who treats it's employees that way

Agree2 Disagree8

To be honest, saints look in a good position to survive and Ince would have a reasonable chance of first team football. I just doubt this somehow as he prefers life up north.

Agree2 Disagree4

Did he tell you personally he prefers life up north? I doubt we will sign him but a player in the championship will not turn down the chance of premiership football just because they 'prefer it up north'

Agree2 Disagree0

When he joined Blackpool he chose them over other clubs like Crystal Palace and Reading at the time stating it was entirely because he didn't want to move down south.

Agree0 Disagree0

With 19 games left it's you Wigan, Reading, QPR & Villa in a relegation battle so don't count your chickens as none of the other teams have just potted their manager for a guy who can't even speak English.....lookingbleak#

Agree0 Disagree3

If you think a relegation battle with the teams you have just named is looking bleak then I assume you know nothing about football, I also take it that you are a skate

st stuie

Agree2 Disagree0

I wish we did have 19 games left !

Agree0 Disagree0

Wondered where the haters had gone since we started our unbeaten run. Hope its not a skate - thought we had upgraded with scousers
SaintGazza

Agree2 Disagree0

West Ham will get dragged into it. Fulham too maybe, but I think Sunderland are clear now. Their manager is too good for them to get relegated.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am personally not worried about relegation, the team have more than shown they have enough to survive this year.

As for looking bleak. From a skate that is classic. Portsmouth have had it, HMRC are just delaying pulling the trigger. You have been trading insolvent for a year, outbidding championship clubs for players instead of paying your local debtors as a minimum.... all the whining about some right to be competitive rather than manning up, paying what you owe, and playing your youth players like stockport had to.

Even if saints got relegated, your disease ridden corpse of a club would still keep us all happy, watching you slowly implode is the perfect cure for any ills saints might have.

Agree3 Disagree0

He does speak English just not good enough to speak to the media but enough to communicate to the team. Go back to your own rumor website and see who you are signing on another month loan. I'd rather be in a relegation fight in the prem than 1 in league 1. It's going to be not league for you next season anyway!

I don't know how much is true, but the rumors going around leicester city is that southampton are wanting anthony knockaert. plays as a winger or attacking midfielder. current french u21

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Ive seen this lad play and he's great, would be a welcomed edition but I think if a deal is to be made it won't be untill the summer, I can't see courtese being held to ransom just because its this late in the season, also their manager has his head screwed on and probably wouldn't let one of his prized assets go, especially as they are having ago at promotion

in Pochettino's first interview about Southampton, he said he wasn't sure if the team necessarily needed a new signing. I doubt we will sign anyone but if we do it will likely go to the wire and maybe and attacking mid/wing forward could arrive on deadline day. Players rumoured are Lazio and Wellington Nem, Jermaine Lens was linked previously. However I wouldn't be surprised if 2/3 fringe players were allowed to leave.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Whos lazio ? you said "players rumored are lazio and wellington nem " lol

Agree3 Disagree2

I'm not sure if we need to sign anyone until the summer apart from back up players. Boruc has been playing well. Shaw is class, yoshida has been getting better every week, Forren looks good hopfully is good for us, clyne is great at right back, fonte (when back from injury) hooiveld, fox and Richardson decent back up and cork for right back if need be. Cork and Schniderlin CDM's don't stop running and tackling, with Davis as decent back up. Lallana out on the left, Ramirez in the middle and puncheon on the right. I no a lot of people don't like him but guly is decent cover for lallana, people seem to only watch him on the ball, he works his socks off, off the ball and really helps on on the back line as de ridded dosent. Rodriguez can play out on the right if needed so can mayuka which are both also cover for lambert up front. Not sure decent cover for Ramirez or just play a different formation to the one I'm thinking of. That team is better than villa qpr and reading so we should be fine I think.
------------boruc
Clyne-Forren-yoshida-shaw
-----Schniderlin-cork
Puncheon-Ramirez-lallana
-----------lambert
Bench: fox, mayuka, fonte, Rodriguez, Davis, Richardson, guly

Agree9 Disagree6

I'd agree we probably don't NEED a new signing, but that doesn't mean he's not looking to improve.

Agree5 Disagree5

Lallana cover for remirez

Agree0 Disagree7

I think we do need to sign someone. We need an experienced midfielder who is clinical. Everton showed just how many chances we miss. We need to start putting them ALL away if we are going to stay up. You cannot miss chances against teams like man united etc. you will get punished.

Agree4 Disagree3

^^ forgot about a keeper on the bench

Agree6 Disagree1

Forren is left footed... LCB for him. Cork is always RCDM and Schneiderlin is LCDM.

Agree5 Disagree2

Guly out for up to 3 weeks

Agree5 Disagree0

We need another striker as proficient as lambert ! another world class centre back, and for good measure another fellani type handfull in mid field .

Agree2 Disagree1

I mentioned Southampton looking at a young lad called Gormley from Cliftonville in the irish league as a future prospect and was asked if I was having a laugh, well Brendan Rodgers was over looking at him on Saturday, so if he is sniffing around the kid must have something.

Agree1 Disagree2

In professional football there is no such thing as 'RCM' or 'LCB'. roles are simply defined by who you are picking up and the role you are expected to carry out. suggesting forren should play 'LCB' just because he's predominantly left footed is ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree7

Do you go to games?
De Prado is awful off the ball, silky skills on it but he doesn't mark, support, no cover, basically a liability at this level,
Jos is a donkey, we need cover for wings, a cdm as the MP style going to lead to suspensions, and I think that we lack back up for Rickie, JayRod still developing others lack quality
Definite room for improvements

Agree5 Disagree4

I didn't think of what side to put them because of their feet and that is why I am not a manager lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes I do go to games, I haven't missed a home league game since we lost 1-0 to Blackpool the year we got relegated from the championship. The question is do you go to games? Since lallana has been injured Guly has played well, maybe because he knows its his chance to get back into the first team, which shows he can step it up when lallana is injured therefore good cover for lallana. Yes he is good off the ball, he helps out on the back line with shaw, stopping potential passes, he also breaks his neck to get over into that position. Hooiveld played good against Everton, admittedly a bit dogdegy but we have got fonte (I know he is injured but we don't really need him at the moment with yoshida and Forren, saying that is with the hope Forren plays well). J rod is class, yeah he is still developing but I think he would step up to the mark if lambert got injured, we are not lambert fc, we can play without him. There is always room for improvement, we wouldn't be 15th in the prem otherwise, if we get a player in better than what we have got then great, if not then oh well we are playing well, not shipping to many goals (apart from Chelsea which was in the cup anyway) and we are scoring goals.

Agree6 Disagree0

To the guy who reckons there's no such thing as RCM or LCB etc.. Yes there is?!

Agree5 Disagree1

Anyone that thinks guly is decent at anything other than drink driving is clearly dillusional the guys a joke and I don't think he deserves to clean the other players boots, please never insinuate that he is anywhere close to king lallana EVER again

st stuie

Agree2 Disagree1

At st stuie I never said he was anywhere close to lallana, of course he isn't, lallana is pure class. Just saying guly has played well since lallana has been injured therefore good cover. Guly has got a good physical presence, and helps out with shaw on the back line. How many games have we lost since lallana has been injured and guly has been in the team? I know we haven't won many of those games and lallana may have been the difference. Just another guly hater! Support the players that play for your team instead of criticising them, negativity never does anyone any good! Look at Chelsea.

De Prado injured for three Weeks........

Hearing a rumour from tv transfer updates that we are in to sign Hannover midfielder roberto firmino
Would be a good signing I think.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

You mean hoffenheim...? looks a decent player on youtube. But then again, remember the hype we had when we signed Yago Falque. Look what happened there!!

Agree9 Disagree1

Hoffenheim not Hanover

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't think you can compare falque and firmino, firmino is different breed incredible player will be stunned I'd we actually sign him

Agree1 Disagree0

Falque is class just lacked a manager that encourages flair

Heard from a friend with connections that Tim Cahill could be coming to saints on loan until the end of season. Would be a great signing. Box to box player or backup for lambert with his aerial abilities.

H Train

Believable6 Unbelievable12

No chance in this happening!

Agree7 Disagree2

Nope, never like Thierry will only ever return to one PL club, Cahill will only ever go back to the Sticky Toffees.

Agree2 Disagree2

Tim cahill said in an interview a while ago when being linked with liverpool that he would never under any circumstance play for another premier league club, other than everton.

Agree2 Disagree3

Neither want or need him. Go and support Pompey if you want old and over the hill players.

Agree2 Disagree3

Seeing the new MLS season is due to start soon, and it was sunderland that wanted him before jan on loan. (signing on january 1st) but that never happened and neither will this.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not a chance, chelsea will not let a starting line-up/bench player go out on loan.

Agree2 Disagree4

Different cahill mate

Agree2 Disagree0

The awkward moment someone gets gary cahill and tim cahill mixed up.

Agree8 Disagree0

TIM CAHILL!! not GARY CAHILL LOL!!

Agree3 Disagree0

Tim Cahill not Gary Cahill

Agree3 Disagree0

Tim Cahill is a number 10. Gary Cahill is a CB.
