Not wanting to be a party pooper but why do we have to keep getting these ' maybe ' players and not just splash the cash and get a recognised goal scoring forward like Charlie Austin. We are third in the PL and if we want to stay there we need to make a statement of intent.

Why on earth, Chris, would QPR sell their only chance of avoiding relegation? Be realistic.

Agree12 Disagree2

28 Jan 2015 23:02:52
because charlie austin is probably not for sale or loan midway through the season - he has scored more than half of QPRs goals - its £45-50m to stay in the prem - can you imagine what the cost would be to QPR if they sold him now as they would almost certainly get relegated without his goals. Possibly still may.

Other clubs are not in the situation we are with basically a zero forward line. I didn't actually say Charlie Austin, I said somebody like him that can actually score goals. Rather than a player who is on loan to a midstream German club, he has a pretty poor scoring record and can't actually get a regular start even there. Just seems odd to me and thought we could do better. If I am wrong so be it but it's pretty obvious to me that we need better than what we are going for, if we want to stay right up there in the league we have to start scoring proper goals and have more than 3 shots in a game and 2 of them off target. We can't keep relying on our defence as was proved last Saturday.

Chris, in the summer did any of our signings show 'intent'? I guarantee you hadn't heard of more than 3 of them. Koeman isn't stupid, do you really think he will bring in a striker who he thinks will not score goals? So we're third in the table and suddenly, now we have to scrap our philosophy and spend 30 odd million on a top goal scorer? I think we've done fine so far without splashing too much cash. So we have 3 shots in a game? We're third in the premier league, enjoy it instead of worrying about signings all the time.

I agree with Chris. We need someone who's a proven goal scorer who can hit the ground running. If the board really think that we have a chance of a CL place at the end of the season they should bring in someone to help us hold on to 3rd place. If we're not scoring goals we're not winning matches so I can only see us dropping out of Euro qualifying places.

I am just looking at all of this from a personal point of view. It is my opinion because that's how I see it, I am certainly not saying I am right !. I think and see our position as the very best we could ever of dreamed of after 22 games. We have had a tremendous defensive record until now but sooner or later something has to give and if we don't score more goals or at least be an attacking threat I can't see us keeping it up. The injuries are going to have an effect on us over the next couple of games unless we can take the pressure off the defence by being more challenging up front. I think Palace showed last weekend that with a high pressing and very mobile front line that we are vulnerable. I am just saying it as I see it, that's all.

I agree with you Chris, however to get a top goal scorer in January we will certainly need to pay well over the odds. I think the game over the weekend was a bit of a freak resulted, not something we would usually see. I personally think Jack cork didn't have the best of games and left our back line unprotected often during the first half. Very unlikely to happen when Morgan and big vic are back fit. Even Harry Reed seemed to provide us more protection in the games he played. With Mane back and Elia i do feel there are more goals in the side and do think we can hold out for a champions league spot this season. If that happens he will be in a fantastic position next season to spend money sensibly on someone that can provide more goals and take a bit of the pressure off Pelle.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Jan 2015 19:55:19
One thing for sure we would be nowhere near where we are now without Pelle he has been outstanding and especially considering he has had no other player to link up with. I know we have some great midfield players but all of them can't seem to get a shot on target. In all the matches I have seen from the top half of the Prem there are always goal scoring midfielders linking with the centre forward. If our midfield could score a few goals or at least get a shot on target we would probably change the shape of the opposition and take some pressure off our fabulous defence.

saints sign filip djuricic

you have to hand it to RK and the Saints scouts - nobody has a clue who we are talking to - and the papers' speculation is usually miles off target. Mine too.

Still only a rumour until its released on Saints Official Site - so not signed him yet but may do.

Heard that Cork has 48 hours to tell us what he's doing. If he won't sign then we'll look at a £2m fee with Palace, Everton & Newcastle interested and then we'll go for Vilhena.

So it was £3m and Swansea!

I really like the Under Armour gear. The training gear is great n a bit different.
Would mean we get a unique or at least different kit to all the other striped teams.
hope it's true.
Anything better than the over priced asian knock offs we have this season.

It is adidas, it's been adidas since cortese left and we sorted the 'disagreement' with them, we signed a 4 year contract with them and both sides plan on honouring that

it's the reason we have no manufacturer logo on our kits, it was too late for adidas to get the stock in and as were under contract to them we can't have anyone else's logo on the kits

Agree1 Disagree4

28 Jan 2015 21:37:00
We terminated the contract with Adidas as announced on the official site. Did we not go on to produce our own kits this season hence no brand logo?

Agree3 Disagree1

29 Jan 2015 00:56:34
Cortese cancelled it in Dec '13 (because he wanted bespoke kits & training gear ala AC Milan, Madrid & Bayern, but adidas refused) then when he went the club sorted the deal out and we're back with the original contract, it's only because it wasn't sorted until Feb/March and there was no way adidas could've sourced the stock in time that adidas didn't make them this year.

That's why we had to produce them, we had offers from other kits manufactures like errea and macron but they wanted their logos on kits and a long term deal, as we are under contract from adidas we couldn't do that, the only way around it was to buy our own templates and do them ourselves

saintysaintsaint: you have twisted the truth. we terminated the contract with adidas and that is that. We have never sorted the deal out, because there was no time for adidas to produce the 2014-15 kit, we decided to make our own whilst looking for a new supplier. Under Armour WILL be the new kit supplier.

HOW can we, a football club, produce our own kit at "short notice" (6months before season), yet Adidas etc cannot?!
Definitely want a better quality shirt but would be nice to have something that makes our shirt stand out from other teams with stripes.

hoping you are write saint Ben

Exhibit A in the 'Truth versus My Friend Told Me' case, 2015. So, saint_ben_basingstoke, either your friend lied or you did. Great job either way; Adidas deal announced today.
