Arsenal have entered the race to sign gary hooper so dont no about that 1

Agree10 Disagree14

Apart from Matt Phillips you could pick a worse load of players to sign - MP aside none of them thank you!

Agree14 Disagree6

Scott Dann is possibility if Bburn go down. Not the greatest CB available though.

Ryan Taylor won't leave newcastle don't be silly.

Gary hooper will probably be over priced.

Kevin Doyle isn't ambitious enough - 10 goals a season and been relegated with his two previous prem clubs.

Kevin Davies is getting old, can't see him adding much to our current firepower other than a bit of experience.

Why do you want 3 strikers and only 2 defensive players and no midfielders?! We could do with a bit of pace up front but other than that we shouldn't need 3 additions on top of Lambert, Lee, Sharp (Connolly and Barnard if they stay). Could do with a CB & RB as you said, LB wouldn't go a miss as well as an experienced CM. Also could do with some pace out wide and some creativity to take pressure off Lallana.

The strongest rumours (media wise) are Hooper and Snodgrass. I have seen reports linking us with Fontaine again, but i think that that ship has sailed.

My opinion is that that Hoillet is also a good possibility due to his contract situation

Cant see Saints making more than 4 summer signings

Agree13 Disagree5

No chance with hoilett the big clubs want him.

As we know Saints need a shake up and heres rumours i have heard going around alot...

Doyle (Wolves)
Emnes (Middlesbrough)
Surman
W Bridge (Man City)
Kyle Naughton
Gordan (GK) ( i dont think so personally)
Upson (defo i think)

Believable9 Unbelievable13

I agree with some of them^ But heres mine..
GK R Green - If West Ham dont go up
RB Kyle Naughton
CB Upson
LB Wayne Bridge
RM/LM Zaha , M Phillips
ST K Jones

Agree7 Disagree13

Don't agree with many of these.

Mine:

R Green (free) if WH don't go up
RB Naughton/Corluka (Loan)
LM Hoilett (£7 million)
ST Jay Rod/Rhodes (£5 million)
CB Upson (£500k)
RM Zaha/Phillips/Snodgrass (£5 million)

Another CB also would be good.

Please note: Hopeful not realistic. {Ed004's Note - Hoillet is on a free transfer}

Agree14 Disagree5

Ed004 - cheers ed. In which case even better deal! Unfortunately another club will get him, but we can only hope ;)

Agree8 Disagree2

Would want Zaha impressed with him but he does run out of gas a bit...... IMO we need a GK, RB & LB + CB...... 2 x pacey midfielders & 1 Up front to go with Lee,Lambert & sharp

Agree3 Disagree1

Green doubt it unless its for back up. Rhodes isn't good enough. Hoilett is over priced. Owen (LOL) way to injury prone. Fabio and Park made me fall off my chair. Doyle is rubbish and should stay in the Championship this time. Hooper should stay at Celtic as he is a joke. Upson possible, I also believe Lolo may be possible too. But in truth Cortese is a shrude buisness man and keeps everything behind closed doors so I doubt anything on here will be accurate anyway. {Ed003's Note - Hoilett is out of contract in June,compensation would have to be paid though because of his age}

Now we are Premier league first signing will be Surman and Baird...........watch this space

Believable2 Unbelievable19

Never seen such dumb posts put up about saints targets, what we need is some real quality in one or two areas mainly in defence and the coaching in that area of the side ! Roll on the prem its gonna be one hell of a ride !

Agree9 Disagree3

Second,Terry Paine and Mick Channon,lol.

Agree7 Disagree0

Seriously, this is exactly what I do with pro-evolution soccer! Basically try and assemble a team that represents saints. Kenwyn Jones up front with Kevin Davies ect! LOL

Possible Targets for the Premier League push:
Rob Green (If West Ham fail to go up)
Al Habsi (If Wigan relegated)
James Tomkins (As above)
Nataniel Clyne
Ryan Bertrand (Loan)
Andre Surman
Gael Bigirimana
Wilfred Zaha
Jay Rodriguez
Gary Hooper

I'm not suggesting that we will sign all of these and we will probably have to battle with Reading for a number of these.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

James Tomkins would be a good signing for Southampton because our defence aint the best to be honest no offence to Fonte and Hoovield we also need a right back in my opinion Kyle Naughton? (LOAN)

Well done today boys on ur promotion was just wondering if u were still going in for Gary hooper? I'm a Celtic fan and would hate to c him leave
jackthebhoy

Believable7 Unbelievable4

I think Adkins will he likes I sign players who have played under him before and I think he will go in for him again but who knows maybe sharp was his secon choice an now he doesn't want him, has hopper got pace? If not I doubt it because that's what we need now

Agree6 Disagree4

No one knows to early, maybe, but saints could go for a proven out of choice striker (Doyle -wolves)(rodellaga -Wigan etc

Agree1 Disagree8

I've seen a few reports that say we've reignited interest in him. But no clue if they're accurate

Agree5 Disagree1

Hopefully

Agree4 Disagree1

Honestly I think the price will be too high and the interest is too public. Powers that be at Southampton like doing business quietly and cheaply. Also think we could do with more pace up front so would be likely to sign an attacking player know for speed which I don't think Hooper is?

That's my opinion anyway, Hooper is quality but really really hope we sign someone with speed to burn, especially for the amounts of money we are talking about. We could sign someone like Zaha, Matty Phillips, Hoilett who are really hot prospects and have speed that would worry prem defences.
