Hearing that we could be interested in signing Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall, I think this would be a sensible and realistic option and finally someone who wouldn't make me nervous between the sticks! I think Davis should retire and become one of the coaching staff and Gazza should go on loan in the lower leagues. What d'you guys think?

Believable17 Unbelievable3

I've always had an eye on Kasper Schmicheal but will be tough to get him now he's been promoted with Leicester.

On the subject of Marshall - I wouldn't complain but think we'd need to shift a keeper or two to make room for him (currently 4 in first team squad).

It's worth looking at all the relegated clubs and seeing if we can sneak a few bargains.

Agree7 Disagree3

Honestly, I'd be far more interested in Stephen Caulker if I had a choice from Cardiff. He'll definitely leave in the summer - would be crazy not to considering he's on the verge of WC14 selection.

Agree6 Disagree1

Speaking of relegated clubs, Norwich will most likely be relegated given their run home. If so, we could probably get someone like van Wolfswinkel for a bargain. He's struggled for Norwich, but was quality in the Dutch league where he was getting decent service.

Also, wouldn't mind Nathan Redmond from Norwich. Cut us to pieces the first time we played them this season. He's got pace to burn, which is something we really lack.

As for Fulham, I'd take Holtby and that's about it.

Agree1 Disagree10

Not van wolf's winkle. possibly the others

Agree5 Disagree1

In my opinion, Caulker, Redmond and Fer are Norwich's best players. Wolfswinkel was poor even before he moved from Sporting so that wouldn't be a step forward. As for goalkeepers, Mashall is great but also getting older.

Koval Maksym (21) was mentioned on here before, a young goalkeeper for Dnipro (Ukraine) with a average of 1. 3 goals conceded a game in comparison to Boruc's 1. 07. With our defence above him I think Maksym could be perfect.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - Caulker is a Cardiff player. Norwich must be bad if one of their three best players doesn't even play for them!!}

I must be going mad today! Maksym plays Dynamo Kiev actually 😂

{Ed001's Note - one of those days then!}

I fear for saints next year especially if the manager as well as a few top players leave, it could be a new manager with different ideas or style of play, who would they replace poch with? Worrying time after years of being been a season ticket holder do I renew as I can't afford it,

Believable5 Unbelievable14

I can see how it's so worrying, what with Saints getting two players in the PFA Team of the Year, the club getting a record points tally in the Premier league - with two games to go, and the club coming out and saying no-one is being sold, oh and that Poch is already planning preseason and discussing transfer targets.

When you think about it, I'm amazed I can actually sleep at night.

Agree15 Disagree3

We have a fantastic team which each season only requires two or three transfers to progress it. The team is young and ambitious and we have an academy with plenty more talent to cone through.

Why panic about bull rumours and utter dross in the papers when we just had a statement saying they don't want to sell players. If they get offers for players they don't want to sell they will be met with a firm not for sale.

Yes players will leave but it will be fringe players and if we did sell a player like shaw or lallana. there not irreplaceable I think the next top player to leave us will be shaw but not for another season and when he does go it will be for an over the top fee because we don't need to sell.

Mopo staying is what we need. If he goes to spurs which I couldn't fathom how that's a progression look how it worked for AVB then let him go we will get someone else might not be as nice to watch but no one is bigger then the club.

Agree10 Disagree1

Think gus poyet would do just as good job if not better at saints
Gazza

Agree2 Disagree15

I really want to renew my ticket but I'd just don't feel I would enjoy it as much if Adam lallana and pochettino left

Tottenham are in talks with da boer of ajax

, is the guy at the top St Nicholas?

As St Christopher said, a lot to be 'fearful' about! Gee whiz, there are some gullible people on here.

I think that clauses in contracts, contract renewals and negotiations will start apace now that the Club know we will finish 8th. Rumour has it that Poch has a clause in his contract of a further year if we achieve a top 8 finish. ?

Believable7 Unbelievable3

As reported by Saint86 further down the page. In relation to Poch at any rate.

Hi Ed 001 - Keep up the good work!
This isn't a rumour as such - more fishing for information - but I have been hugely impressed by Mats Daehli of Cardiff. I understand he's only a young lad that came from Molde with OGS. and was previously at Man Utd.

Over the years certain players have stood out for me when I've seen them play for the first time. Mats Daehli is one of those that I feel has a huge future ahead of him - so do you know why Utd let him go?

Daehli reminds me so much of Lallana. Great feet, Great balance, and the ability to turn his marker inside out and back to front. With Cardiff likely being relegated, could Cardiff keep hold of him? Do you know of any interest in him from other premier league clubs?

As a Saints fan I certainly wouldn't say no

Cheers Ed!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he wasn't getting a chance so wanted to leave and play regular first team football. They would have happily kept him a bit longer. One of those lads that is not happy sitting on the sidelines. Man Utd keep tabs on him, so the new manager might show an interest, impossible to say on that front right now. Spurs were also very interested, but they are in a similar state. The only other team I know of that were keeping tabs on him at Molde were Everton.

As for Cardiff keeping him, if they go down, then it will come down to Tan to put more money in or the club is in serious bother financially. I would expect a few players to become available, certainly I have been led to believe that Medel has a relegation clause in his contract. Apparently that was one of the things that annoyed Tan about his signing so much. I would expect the club to offload a few of their players if they go down, just to relieve the financial burden a little. Hard to know though as it all comes down to Tan's willingness to shoulder the load from his own pocket or not.}

Many thanks Ed 001.

Your contribution is greatly appreciated!

DailyFail reporting today that Lallana has 'heart set' on Liverpool and that they are front runners to sign him ahead of Utd. Naturally, nothing remotely constituting a quote or evidence to back it up.

I don't believe it, just reporting what's been said! Hoping he stays and think he will for at least another season. Anyone heard anything more concrete about whether he's staying or not?

Here in Australia, journalists have some limitations placed on what they can write - designed to promote integrity within the profession, higher professional standards, and the reporting of fact over fiction.

Does the same not exist in the UK? Wasn't the Leveson Inquiry supposed to, in part at least, address professional standards?

Apologies eds, I know it's off topic, I'm just getting a little peeved with all the blatant lies that are written. An eight year old with a 45 IQ could quite easily write for the DM.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there are few who adhere to that in the UK any more. The Guardian used to be the most reliable of papers, when it came to sport, now they are reporting gossip and rumours as facts. They have turned into a piece of tabloid gutter trash with the rest of them. It is bad enough we get Sly Sports News making up utter lies every transfer day, that fans sadly believe to be true (the Babel copter nonsense is one that springs to mind that the player himself makes jokes about because it was so stupid!), now there is literally no papers or news station that has integrity left.}

I gather Eurosport isn't much better, given their pathetic 'paper talk' article everyday!

What are your thoughts on the BBC as a source then, ed? I've generally found them to be reliable.

Btw good work on interacting with the posters on here eds! Helps to have a few level headed people on here!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I used to find the BBC extremely reliable, but lately they are getting shoddy, at best. Their articles are riddled with errors or inaccuracies, not sure whether it is deliberate misinformation or just poor research. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just lacking in quality researchers though.

There are a few decent places out there to find info, Associated Press and Reuters tend to be excellent and just stick to the facts, which other journalists then embellish later to write stories for the tabloids etc. Transfermarkt http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ are fairly reliable, comparatively at least, they are often much closer with their reported transfer fees than the BBC etc. Also, if you are interested in the finances of football, there is no better blog out there than SwissRambles http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/ which is very in depth, though his articles are infrequent, unfortunately. Oh and I have no affiliation to any of those, just ones that I recommend as a footie fan.

Thank you, I do try and spend as much time as I can chatting on the sites. It is what the sites are meant to be about the interaction.}
