according a newspaper (dunno if i can name them) Martin odegaard has been advised to join us. what a dream signing that would be, one of europes hottest talents and an attacking midfielder!!! unlikely to happen i know. have to get Lundekvam on the phone to him ha.

I heard he was all but signed up for Bayern. It'd be a lovely surprise if he rocked up at Saints - he's an amazing talent.

{Ed001's Note - he was never all but signed for Bayern, he has been all round Europe visiting all the top clubs, but he has not accepted an offer yet. He is thinking over his options, it is now his personal choice as to who he joins, so it is anyone's guess where he ends up.}
This lads a real talent although I doubt he will choose Saints over the rest of the world! If he wants to go to a club that offer good development, he should probably go to somewhere like Ajax where he has the chance to maximise his potential

Just for him to be advised he should join us is a fantastic sign for the club and the future. It shows we are starting to be put in the same bracket as Ajax in development. (As long as it was not Tim down the pub that advised him of this)

Where are the other sources. All I can find is the mirror which we know are renowned for fabrication.

at the weekend BBC sport had a section of 50 transfer rumors for january. we had the usual storys in there that we've all heard before.
but one stands out for me as i havnt seen this or heard this anywhere before.
but saints are intrested in lee nguyen from new england revolution. the story quotes :
his 20 goals and excellent work rate were major factors in nguyen being named an MLS player of the year finalist, and his club finishing as league runner up. The former PSV man could be heading back to europe with reported intrest coming from southampton.
anyone know or heard anymore on this story ?

Apparently Saints scouts were at the MLS Playoff semi final (New England vs NYRB), in which he impressed for the Revolution.
However even if a deal was secured for him, with only four international caps he would have to be deemed an ‘exceptional talent’ in order to get a work permit.

I head this about 2 months ago.

I think being a player of the year finalist would be enough to get the work permit, they rarely don't go through.
However i think this is mere speculation. if we were actually going to sign someone from every game a scout goes to then we would have 1000s of players!

You disagree with the fact i read something 2 months ago? got to love the new forest fans

i know we have Eljero Elia on loan with a view to buy.
would the fee already been set for the summer ?
i heard £4 million. but if he has a brilliant 5 months and sets the premier league alight, would breman treble the fee ?

I believe an option to buy in contract is usually just that. A contract is legally binding. Although i have heard there may be problems with doing so with toby but this is very unusual. the ins and outs i do not know but i seem to recall athletico having a way of possibly worming out of the option to buy. This is very uncommon though. I expect if Godin is sold which seems Athletico will try to do exactly that and worm of it. I will try find out the exact details and re post.

The was a rumour that they had a clause that they could cancel our buy option by giving us £1.6 million.
I am pretty sure this made up.
It is generally assumed that we have options to buy on our loan (Bertrand £10m, Toby £6.5m, and now Elia at ~£4m) however as far as i'm aware noone from saints has confirmed this, at least not officially, so these are just speculation aswell.
I hope we have the options as they look like bargins now, i assume we would have wanted something in the contract!

I agree with what you said but mate, if would be too good to be true if we bought Toby Alderweireld for £6.5m. Worth about £20m but would be amazing if we bought him.
