why don't we stop looking for a striker, and start using billy sharp. really deserves a fair shot at the premiership. / could score us 10 important goals

Believable8 Unbelievable14

I've had a feeling all along, that we will end up with these 2 and that talks were taking place quietly behind closed doors. slowly, slowly catchee monkey

Agree4 Disagree1

Because he is a good championship striker, but not premiership class, he lacks pace.

Agree7 Disagree2

The same Billy Sharp who couldn't get into the Forest starting lineup last season?

We have top 6 aspirations, as much as we owe Billy for his part in getting us up, he is nowhere near a top half prem player.

Agree7 Disagree3

A super fit billy sharp would be a great weapon/super sub with his goal poaching abilities. Ideal for that elusive equaliser or winning goal!

Agree4 Disagree6

He is not a premiership footballer. Yeah he's a poacher and will grab a few taps in but you don't get those chances as often in the prem. Also the fact he couldn't score against eastleigh the other day proves this

Agree8 Disagree3

Lol. Luckily you're not the manager, if billy was good enough then he'd have gone to spain and austria. The club has european ambitions, 10 goal a season (honestly doubt he would score that many) strikers don't get you there. He was given a fair chance, he wanted to go up north to be with his family, the club did nothing wrong with him and now he's not up to the standard we need, that's why he's not in the team

Agree5 Disagree3

Sharp in not up to the standard Potti wants to bring in. He want someone with pace and flair, and Sharp does not fit into that catagory!

Agree6 Disagree2

He isn't an improvement on lambert, Rodriguez or mayuka
Opinions differ and we are all entitled but I just don't see him setting the premiership alight.

Agree3 Disagree2

Not a Premier League standard striker.

People just seem to be a sucker for a son story.

Agree5 Disagree3

He doesn't fit the system or conditioning of saints

Agree4 Disagree2

Sorry I put a comment on the wrong post, should have been the previous post. It makes more sense then!

Agree2 Disagree4

Why do people come out saying good job your not the manager? It's in every other thread, total bollox like any of us have got a idea of how to run Southampton fc. Makes me laugh, perfetic comes to mind!

Agree1 Disagree3

People need to realise that many of the players who were great in the Football League are not up to top flight football. There is no room for sentiment. They know this and earn thousands a week on fixed contracts to make up for it!

Agree4 Disagree0

Is it Billy Sharp that keeps creating this thread? Becoming tedious. He is not good enough. SHame. Move on.

Agree6 Disagree1

BILLY SHARP IS S**TE who are these people who keep suggesting we give him a shot? if he was good enough for the prem he would have been snapped up by another prem club or a championship side DISTINCTLY AVERAGE (for the championship)

I heard saints are still in talks with both clubs of Banega and Damiao! Heard that the fee for both players will be 34 million which would take saints spending to about £55 million this this summer this will be thr end of saints spending during this window! Hope that this time my source is right he got mayuka, jay rod and wanyama right! Fingers crossed lads.

I hope to hell he is right.
Yes its a lot of money. But if we want to try and play with the big boys we need to spend.
My biggest worry is how long people take to bed in.
Fingers crossed he is right though

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah, as Poch said at the beginning of July we aren't interested in 15-20 different players. Just 3 biggies. Wanyama (done deal), Banega and Damiao. I suspect that all focus will now be on these two. Any other links mentioned for midfielders and wingers and strikers are back ups in my opinion if these deals go sour. What NC wants NC gets.

Bafetimbi Gomis of Lyon, is on our radar after Newcastle could not entice Lyon with their 7mill bid, a mature striker at 27 with pace and power. Would be good choice if our Damaio bid falls through.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Our radar must be fantastic and cover the whole planet! Because every player in the world seems to be on it!
