I heard of a few whispers around St Mary's around the last few games of the season that Liverpool and Spurs were going to make a bid for James Ward-Prowse. Really hope this isn't true.

I heard city had been looking to help fill the British player quota with a bid for JWP. I reckon he has enough about him to know he's bettet off staying for few years. Also City ruin English talent eg Sinclair and Rodwell.

If there stupid enough let the have him he is meant to have world class delivery but he has not scored from a free kick or set up a goal from a corner.hes small, not very fast, no close ball skill why do people say gaston is crap elia is poo but oh no ward prowse is wot english just puzzles me.

JWP is quality and has a big future with the club, he's provided a lot of assists this season and remember he's only 20!

If he has a good summer with the U21s you'll understand why he's so highly rated by the club.

He needs to step up he's 20 real talent are showing there worth in the prem biy now.don't get me wrong last season his performance and delivery from set pieces where excellent but since his 5yr deal he ain't shown that same quality.every real saints fan knows of his quality and I was just showing how u can write off excellent talent for nothing more than poor form witch u as a post above says can be gained from a good pre season

If he'd scored a few free-kicks and outfield goals this season you wouldn't be saying that, let's be honest. He had a fractured foot early on in the season, so he's yet to even play a whole season consistently for Saints, and he's still only 20!

Southampton87 does have a point. Yes he's 20, but it still seems as though he's stalling in his development. Players of a similar age like Sterling and Barkley have done a lot more already

Ross Barkley -29 apps . 2goals 2 assists
Jwp -26apps. 1 goal 6 assists.
I wouldn't say that's a lot more. And considering Barkley regards himself as a striker that's pretty poor form

There is a big difference in quality between ross barkley raheem sterling and jwp
Ross barkley big nipper fast strong skillfull excellent long range shot good at set pieces plays in full international .
Raheem sterling excellent ball control fast as a stabbed rat good shot good runs from midfield past the striker is a full international.
Jwp good delivery from set pieces good passer and a good free kick and plays under 21s for England and will untill he is uneligible as I was saying he needs to score from free kicks set up goals from corners not borrow a pen to up his scoring tally

How can Barkley have an 'excellent' long range shot with 2 goals all season? And JWP is our penalty taker so how did he borrow a penalty? Koeman said in an interview that it he's on the pitch, he has to take the penalty.

Jwp our penalty taker since when and barkley's 2 goals is twice as many as jwp managed and I don't think anyome can argue the good long rang strike barkley has got but ok if u say so

Ronald Koeman wants to bring in talented Dutch youngster Richairo Zivkovic on a season loan from Ajax. He's only 18 but is highly thought of as a player with a bright future. Thoughts on this?

He's Dutch, so it must be true!

Definitely not true but decent young player. I've learnt over the years that do not believe ANYTHING in the media when it comes to southampton signings. We do a great job of keeping our transfer targets quiet and I don't think that will change, we will only know who we will sign when it comes out the mouth of the player or manager.

Hi Ed's,

Any inklings as to whether we'll be looking at Sam Byram again if Clyne ends up going to Man Utd? Or if you know of any other RB's we're looking at?

{Ed001's Note - Trippier was the one I was under the impression Southampton were keen on if Clyne goes. Though last I heard the club were feeling confident Clyne would sign a new contract as European football was achieved. Whether that is just wishful thinking or not, I am not sure.}

Saints are trying to sign Paul verhaegh from fc ausberg as a cover/Replacement? For Clyne he's 31 so I can't see it being g long term

I heard today that southampton are interested in dimitar berbatov mainly due to his European experience and to raise our profile in europe, hope it's not true as I think he's a bit pricey all though there's no doubting he's class, he's been released and is a free agent, Bournemouth are reportedly interested too

I think wages would be a huge stumbling block stuie same with Bournemouth

Yea same here although if he was to sighn for bourouth he would surely be taking a massive drop in wages anyway
