Southampton are after the sinature of SC Bastia and Algeria international Ryad Boudebouz for around £3 mil

Believable2 Unbelievable4

He was linked last summer as well. Probably nothing in it, just one of the usual names recycled every transfer window. See also: Scott Sinclair.

We have signed Ryan Bertrand on a season long loan with a view of a permanent deal. Very good signing that.

Believable9 Unbelievable5

I guess this means we won't be signing Rojo. I hope not as he would be an amazing signing and give us fans a lift that we despratly need.

We should be taking a leaf out of Evertons book! Stones signs new contract, Barkley signs new contract and now they have signed lakaku for 28 million.

keeping their young quality players that are the future and additional big quality signings!

Surely we can do the same?

Agree7 Disagree3

What's with this loan rubbish!
How about spending some of those millions there's an idea?

Agree6 Disagree5

30 Jul 2014 22:25:30
Excellent.I don't normally like loan deals but this will give Targett a chance to develop further.

Agree8 Disagree2

Hope he's as good Ashe thinks he is as Bertrand's career has been very mixed. Started champs league final, tactical/ lucky. Your guess is as good as mine but his performances at Norwich and Villa hardly fill me with confidence, come back foxy PLEASE!

Agree3 Disagree14

Soooo excited. now for fer and redmond.

30 Jul 2014 22:37:41
Very average player. What happened to Marcos Rojo. Think I would rather give Matt Targett a chance the way he has been playing in preseason

Agree7 Disagree3

It is a loan without an option to buy.

Agree6 Disagree6

That's Lambert, Lallana & Shaw replaced with better or equal players. A Cb is needed to replace Lovren. Overall I'm reasonably happy with the way things are going. I have a suspicion that we'll be seeing a lot more of Gaston this season.

Agree11 Disagree7

Do you think so?

I think it means we are not getting our marquee signing of Marcus Rojo!,,,!!,

Agree8 Disagree1

90 million in the Bank and we "loan" in Ryan bloody Bertrand. Sooo frustrated

Agree11 Disagree7

30 Jul 2014 23:34:36
what's the problem with the loan? at least we are padding out the team with a player that fits our philosophy and have experience! Save our money for more signings, I don't see the big problem!? Possibly invest that money into new contracts for a few of our key players as well as new signings.

Agree5 Disagree4

Rojo can play centre back. i'm clutching at straws here, but we could still sign him. Really really hope so.

Agree6 Disagree2

Very solid left back with prem experience. He can cover LB whilst Targett is drip fed into the 1st team, makes perfect sense. Good move. This is encouraging now if we can add 4/5 more sensible, well thought through signings like this the squad will take a really good shape. Dependent on RK's ideas on formation Rojo could well be earmarked for CB? I'm hoping so anyway.

Agree5 Disagree1

Did someone actually write "come back foxy PLEASE"on here? did my eyes send signals to my brain informing me that a NUTTER took the time to type that?? I suggest you pick another sport to watch because danny fox was the worst left back that has ever donned the red and white shirt

Agree4 Disagree3

We have missed the boat with rojo due to our penny pinching offer of 11m. united are now sniffing around. I was being sarky about betrand fer and redmond

Agree3 Disagree0

Some of the post's just prove people haven't got a clue about football Bertrand was average at villa and he will be average saints but he won't mind sitting on the bench whilst taggerts playing.

Agree1 Disagree3

31 Jul 2014 07:38:51
Rojo is a CB who can play LB so may still be coming. If he does he, Fonte & VVD from Celtic will be the CB three with Clyne & Bertrand as wing backs.

Agree5 Disagree0

Exactly why spend loads of money on a LB when we're going to have someone just as good soon after anyway. This way we've got an experienced, proven PL LB (we all know how you guys like players proven in the PL ;) ) and we won't be harming the development of a youth player, what's to moan about?

Saints have signed Ryan Bertrand on a season long loan from Chelsea. Kept that one quiet.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I think it's a very good sign just how quiet that was kept. Shows this board can push things through without any public knowledge. Also suggests the paper talk may just be that and we are working on signings in the usual manner.

Agree6 Disagree0

What about Rojo then.

Agree5 Disagree0

They did indeed! Good signing and the sort of player that would give 100% at saints next season.

Morgan has handed in his transfer request. Now I hope people on here will realise it's the players that want to go, not just the board wanting to sell

Believable18 Unbelievable18

All of the reliable twitter sources and Southampton insiders are saying that this is not true. I don't know who to believe anymore.

Agree17 Disagree3

We need to get Rojo before Liverpool try and pinch him off us!

Agree15 Disagree1

30 Jul 2014 13:13:13
Likewise. Everything is bl00dy confusing all the time.
Everywhere I look on rumour sites its so diametrically opposed its ridiculous.

Am getting slightly annoyed with the media calling us desperate etc as that plays right into the hands of the teams. We want to buy from.

Agree12 Disagree1

Was there a bust up on the training ground? I really don't know what to think anymore, I don't know if we can hold onto MS and Jay. This is a nightmare!

Agree9 Disagree3

Thats because most rumours are posted by those fans who cannot and will not accept reality. Equally, the so-called inside information is bogus.

Yesterday, MS had a tantrum. Therefore, it is blindingly obvious that a formal transfer request would follow.

The issue is whether or not the club accept it.

I would suggest: yes, the club will allow MS for a fee that Southampton want.

Unfortunately, this makes the club look stupid in the wake of the club trying to claim that neither Schneiderlin nor Rodriguez would leave.

Its a lesson for the club and fans alike: players decide transfers

Agree13 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - I am told his transfer request was refused yesterday, hence the moan.}

Ed: you may be right but the indications are that a transfer request went in this morning.

Intriguingly, it appears possible that Levy won't pay the asking price, so that leaves Schneidelin stuck.

Unless Arsenal remain waiting in the wings.

Agree3 Disagree1

If this is the case let him go. let's take the 30 million and tell anyone else that wants to leave to hand in a request today. Once we had sorted out who is staying and who is going we can then as a club move on. We will have more than enough to move on with and rebuild a decent squad with, a lot more than most clubs have ever had. The main we have to do is stay calm. This is not the fault of the board but that of agents and players looking for a payday or inflated wages. We finished 8th last season and with the money we have we should be able to attract players with high enough Calibre so we can push for a top six place. So we have lost some players but do you really think any of them are irreplaceable? The Phoenix will rise frothe ashes and we will, be stronger and more of a team as a result. This is a new era and although I was unsure a few weeks back I am now actually excited at the thought of a new look saints. What we must do is stay behind the new lads and not get on their case, we need time to gel. Time is against us but these new signings will come good. Man 8th, Liverpool 7th, spuds 6th, Everton 5th, SAINTS 4th, and then I don't care. As players the new guys will want to prove a point and the manager will guide them. Most of the guys we have been linked with still haven't been sold yet so evrything is still ok, it isn't like we are losing out to those around. Hoping that Jonas froM Valencia signs and that scouts also looked at the youth team as they beat Barca last year and have some good players. Watch them play yesterday. I am sure is we can get a few in by Friday we can all calm down

Agree6 Disagree6

30 Jul 2014 17:25:05
We must stay focused on the team that puts on the shirt and goes out to represent us. We must stay together and bugger everyone else. Let's forget protests until we know for sure that the money isn't being spent and let Ro know that we are the best supporters, the ones who cheered all the guys who have now let us down. Forget them and get behind the new Saints.

Certain people are taking the p**s-wise up. Media spend all morning saying a transfer request has gone in, then all afternoon saying it hasn't! What difference does it make? If he is not for sale and is on a long term contract a transfer request is pretty pointless.

Were Saints going to keep selling first team players as time was running out to replace them? At some point they were going to say no more could go to enable a quality team to be built before the 1st September-and now they have done so.
Levy knew this would be likely (as would Morgan) so did he come in with a serious offer within a reasonable time scale? Er-no. He placed a stupid bid at the last minute.
What does Morgan expect? Saints to accept around 50% of their valuation and then struggle to replace him?
If he wants to join up with MoPo he should wait a little while to see what happens at Spuds-it doesn't look too healthy at the moment!

Schneiderlin is unhappy but has NOT put in a transfer request! Check the sources of these rumours before you get worried. Check the echo. However I personally feel that he will end up going then jay rod after as contracts really mean fuck all these days.

Echo say no transfer request has been submitted, SSN say it has, in every bullettin, should someone correct them or are they right?

Agree1 Disagree0

Saintgibbs, that is the team I would pick on fifa. There is no difference what so ever between fifa and real life.

Agree1 Disagree0

At least u didn't have leroy fer playing RB.

Agree0 Disagree0

I notice none of the posters here have put Steven Davies in the side despite him being one of our most consistent players last season. I'd make him skipper personally. Did any of you watch any games last season?

Agree1 Disagree0

Good point, but with koeman the formation has changed a little. Steve Davis often played as part of the 3 in a 4231 formation. Spider, cork or wanyama the 2. Jwp also played as part of the 3, and I would like to see him play a more natural cm role. Davis will be there about. I sense we will play with wingers. From our pre season they are isgrove and tadic. That leaves 3 central midfield players.
Spider, cork, wanyama, jwp, Davis ramires.
Obviously totally my opinion. I just think we will play with wingers. The only one out of them players that could also play that role would be ramires. That's to say koeman plays the sane formation, same players, for every game which I highly doubt

According to Sky Sports Spider has put in a transfer request, I say get rid and get top dollar for him. He seems to forget we have made him the player he is JUDAS.

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Tbh honest the feeling I'm getting after looking at the spurs rumour page, coupled with what's on here, is that we are pricing him out of the interested clubs valuation. Levy was interested until we said he would cost around £25m. They just can't afford him after last seasons blow out.
I would really like to see a big bid come in though and test les reed and Krueger. See if his attitude towards spider would change

Agree6 Disagree0

Regardless, no club is willing to make a ludicrous offer for him it seems so he should be made to stay. If we can get over £30million (supposedly) for Shaw we sure as heck should for Schneiderlin who has pretty much been our best asset the past few seasons. If we don't get that he's not going to stop trying because he knows it'll lower his value and lessen the interest in him.

Agree5 Disagree0

This is what happens when you sell your 6 best players everyone sees that the vision you've been spouting is absolute p o o and everyone gets annoyed that they have been lied to and everyone wants out. Players DO NOT decide transfers as people keep saying, people at the top do what players DO is make you analyze the risks in not granting them their wish so weather or not they will leave on a free or become a rotten apple. If they are on long term contracts its simple you say tough doo doo your staying its really not that hard if they refuse to train you make an example of them and you bin them to reserves and keep fining them they will soon change their attitude suarez is prime example come on do you really think every club bends over like saints have and sells players when they ask to leave I know its hard to keep them but selling everyone who asks for a transfer is mental you have to draw the line somewhere and it should have been drawn way sooner than after 6 of our best players had gone. Schneiderlin has every right to want to leave he has been lied to and seen all his mates leave for more money and now we are going backwards so why would he wanna be apart of that? Plus he is the one position we have cover for we sell all these players we have no cover for at all then refuse to sell the one player that we do have cover for people at the top are beyond stupid.

Agree5 Disagree5

Saint Davey, if you take any of those deals individually though you have to say it looks like good business, the board have taken a risk allowing all to go through in one go but other than Chambers where we possibly could have hoped for slightly more, we got very good prices for our departing players.

As for Schneiderlin, no club (apparently at least) will meet our valuation of him because we see him as better than any we've let go so far and essential to build around. So he is definitely the one to stick the foot in the ground over and say "No, you won't stump up the cash, so he will stay here whether he likes it or not. "

The board, if they re-invest wisely, could have made some very wise decisions, the simple answer is we just don't know the full picture yet. Who is coming in to replace these players? Will it really all be re-invested in transfers or is there more future planning? Is this gearing up for a club sale? (Krueger says no to that). Will anyone else leave?

As yet, we don't know the full story, but currently there is a lot of worry. However there is also a lot of potential with the available funds for both short and long term growth.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

He'd be ok, if cheap. super pacey

Agree2 Disagree1

I did say any statement from the board no matter what they said would have negative repercussions a while back, was not expecting anything like this to happen though.

Agree3 Disagree1

According to TalkSport Morgan has refused to train with the squad today, could be the cause of the brawl.

Agree2 Disagree2

I'd imagin spider has been put back in his box for fonte and wanyama

Southampton are looking to sign leroy fer of Norwich.
wouldn't be a bad Bit of Business in my opinion.

What are your thoughts gents?.

Believable10 Unbelievable6

30 Jul 2014 10:31:58
Lovely guy Rickie Lambert but I still can't understand why Liverpool bought him as the best he'll get is the odd cup game and sit on the bench. I thought he would have wanted to finish his career playing as he hated being left out of games for us. I know this might sound silly but it would be strange if we loaned him back after Xmas, I've seen these things happen before. His ultimate dream was to play for Liverpool but I don't think his dream will come true the way he sees it. All this business started with him I hope there isn't a link.

Agree3 Disagree6

I live in Norwich and people here are both resigned to the fact that they are probably going to lose Fer, but rate him as a player. Scored at the world cup from the bench and can't be that bad if he was in a strong Van Gaal Netherlands sqaud.

Rumour out of Manchester that we are looking at a trio from City for £18m.

Rodwell
Guidetti
Sinclair

All fringe who need to sort their careers after big moves not working out.

Good or bad?

Believable7 Unbelievable4

You would think after a couple of years sat on the bench taking a big pay cheque they would be desperate to resurrect their careers and really put on a show. Could be a great idea if that is their attitude. If I was the coach I would want to sit down with them, have a chat and see if that's the case, if it is, get them in.

Agree5 Disagree0

Wouldn't moan about any of them, but I'd rather have clasie than rodwell

Agree4 Disagree1

I certainly feel Rodwell and Sinclair would b good additions can't comment on guidetti as I haven't seen him play but the only problem I see is where would rodwell play because the three as I see it right now is wanyama, spider n cork unless 1 of these leave and on top of this we have Steven Davis n jwp who I feel could have a big breakthrough season this year but Sinclair I want as I feel we lack natural wingers

Agree4 Disagree1

30 Jul 2014 10:10:17
Got a feeling that MS will go in the next week. I feel the board could not withstand the backlash from the fans by allowing it to happen now. I think once the new signings have actually happened the supporters will have hope and if they sign Clasie or similar we would quite accept him leaving. Let's face it no team wants a disruptive influence in the squad, we just want dedicated professionals who want to play for us. Most of the players that have left are in for a rude awakening at their new clubs and will then realise what a mistake they have made. Hopefully!

Agree6 Disagree0

Yeah all good players but can't see this happening at all

Agree1 Disagree1

It could be a good deal like you said if the attitude is right and they are willing to wait for a place in the team as I feel guidetti isn't as good as pelle

A player I'd love to see given a chance is isgrove he looks like he could do a job for us this season young and hungry thoughts?

Agree2 Disagree0

Buying Guidetti would be a gamble. He is talented but I don't like the fact that he openly criticized his coach at Stoke when he didn't manage to take a place in the starting lineup. He hasn't really played any first team fotball for more then 2 years.

Agree2 Disagree0

MS's behaviour is so bad, unless we need the money I would throw the book at him. I know that is then going to be difficult going forward, but every parent knows that you do not reward bad behaviour. Mothercare have a sale on dummies I understand!

Agree3 Disagree1

30 Jul 2014 12:15:09
Absolutely agree, he was the stand out player against Bournemouth. I know it was only a friendly against a championship club but he was outstanding. His individual contribution was enough on its own but his instinctive link up play marks him out as something a little bit special.

Agree2 Disagree0

Rodwell and Sinclair would be great additions, Guidetti has the potential I guess and clearly works well under Koeman
