Matchwood has now closed. Med team clocked off but someone has signed and has just arrived at st Mary's

Believable5 Unbelievable29

Have you not read all the news?!? No other business this transfer window!

Agree10 Disagree4

It's a youth player from osasuna. Nothing special

Agree2 Disagree13

Typical no depth no ambition sorry going down

Agree18 Disagree22

You say no depth, bit it it can't be that bad if lallana was out for 6 weeks and we've been getting results. Fonte was out and we've been pretty solid at the back (boruc has stepped his game his game up)
To say were going down is a bit much. We have been playing damn good over the last month. But you wouldn't know that because you don't go to every game like me.

Agree11 Disagree11

Fair play to the manager for no knee-jerk signings. Not about depth or ambition, if he can't sign anyone better than he already has, then what's the point? Time will tell whether QPR, Reading and one other are still below us come mid May. COYR

Agree12 Disagree3

No depth because we don't have enough cover.
Not good enough because we are playing well but not getting goals. Not good enough service from midfield.

I don't think it's right to say knee jerk signings. We had enough time to sort out a decent midfielder with the experience and skill to service our strikers.
What we are left with is the same people and the same problems whereas other teams have spent and to be fair some of them have spent well. I don't think we are going down just yet but I don't think we are safe by any stretch. I can see it getting to squeaky bum time.

Agree7 Disagree9

Really I don't go every week do I not, every game home and away last 15 years were you at Man U? Or did you watch the highlights?did you see 2nd goal with jos lose Rooney and the stick his hand up like a 10 year old and with all the chances and possession where is the goals? 2 many draws and ask yourself this why the change of manager at such a crucial time and where is the ambition where are the players to back up this so called ambition?

Agree10 Disagree6

You say why sack the manager, but say we have drawn too many, you've partly answered your own question. We've brought in a new defender who should be ahead of Jos in the pecking order when match fit, so that solves that issue. Plus we kept Fellaini quite against Everton. The squad we have should be good enough to stay up, I feel we have decent enough cover for each position. No need to add unless there was better than what we had available as we already have too many fringe players.

Agree7 Disagree5

Arghhhhhh arghhhhhh! we didn't sign anyone else! it's not fair! might as well go back to league one!

my good god

Agree4 Disagree8

It wouldn't matter if we did go down, just make us ritcher, we would sell ramirez and lambert and shaw. most of the team would stay and we would go up again with parachute payments and still a year ahead of courteses plan, but trust me we won't go down reading qpr and villa or wigan will go down

st stuie

Agree7 Disagree4

Very dissapointed with no signings, our players can't score in a brothel, any thing other than a win at wigan and we down! just go s to show cortese sacked adkins because of ego not because of this guys ability to attract talent, couldn't even persuede his old mate coutinho to sign! very pissed off with cortese even more stupid than I thought. on your head be it cortese if we plummet out of the prem you should of stuck to banking you creature.

Agree8 Disagree11

I like the way this manager has us playing. He has assessed the team and must be confident that he has the squad to survive. I, like most supporters would have like to see either a stiker or attacking midfielder but it could just be that we need to get those we have already playing to their potential. I'm not sorry that we haven't done a 'arry and spent over the odds.

Agree9 Disagree2

What is wrong with you lot just a week or so ago most of you were crowing about our team and how together we were playing. Lallana back, Jos back soon and the manager hardly 2 weeks in. We did want to sign a couple of players but it did'nt work out. Do we really want to do a Harry and spend a fortune on players with no gaurantees they would improve the side. We are playing as a team and will survive and then wait for the close season to sensibly improve the side. I really do think that Jay Rod will really stamp himself as a quality forward given a good run in the side. Have faith in NC and MP they have'nt done much wrong so far. Please support them and stop finding fault because it will affect the players.

Agree8 Disagree5

I love how positive our own fans are! Ok yes I thought we needed a striker this window after the last couple of games where just 2 goals would've turned 1 point into 4. But then look at it this way, our last 2 games have been against top 5 opposition and we have out played both of them in at least one half of the game, created more chances than both teams, alright the results didn't go 100% our way but we don't need to beat the top 5 teams at the moment!

This weekend is a crucial game! We have to beat wigan but if we play the way we did against everton or man united I can see us putting 3 or 4 past wigan then suddenly everyone will be saying we didn't need to sign anyone!

Whats happened with the manager has happened it can not be undone! NC is our chairman and MP is now our manager it is time for some fans to put up or shut up! Let them do their job (I think they might know a little more than people on here), at the end of the season if we are not in the Premiership then and only then will they be having to give answers to the fans until then. COYS

Agree3 Disagree2

Ever since the summer fans? have been moaning that we did not sign a decent centre back, we need a CB, how can we survive without a CB? Well we signed one by all accounts a decent one too. So why complain?

We have gone from strength to strength with our young inexperienced team and are still growing. Pochettino and Cortese are obviously happy with the squad and our position. So am I, I truly believe that we will finish comfortably safe, no need to panic just be patient.

COYR!

Agree5 Disagree1

When Ricky lambert is 10th top scorer in the league and he's competing with the likes of Rooney, aguero etc. how can you complain that we're not getting enough goals?

Agree1 Disagree1

Could it be because we're not winning games?

Agree3 Disagree1

Lambert scores again but we don't win again needed anOther striker to help him

Agree1 Disagree2

We don't need another striker- we have quite a few players capable of scoring. One problem is that most of our shots are not hitting the target and/or our main scorers are not firing on all cylinders. Although players like puncheon & ramierez are supporting the team we all know that when they are on form we have the potential to annihilate the opposing team. Only happened once this season vs villa. I reckon it will click in again. As for letting in goals, well fonte still out injured & forren to come in should sort that out. Agreed we are not winning many games but we are not losing thm either & it will only take one player to provid the spark.

Saints have officially confirm De Ridder to Bolton is the last bit of business we are doing this window

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Smokescreen

Agree2 Disagree7

Where? I haven't read this anywhere.

Agree2 Disagree3

Jordan Sibley tweeted it so seems legit - squad is worryingly thin though.

Agree2 Disagree1

Jordan Sibley, the club's spokesperson, announced it on twitter.

Aussie Saint

Agree2 Disagree0

He's only off on loan for 1 month it sounds like.

De ridder to Bolton, done loan deal.
Riquelme ? Twitter? Where?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

According to tv, manager has said they will do no more business In the window.

Agree4 Disagree4

I can't find it he is a fibber

Agree3 Disagree2

Im not a fibber! If you search Riquelme, no #, several tweets come up linking us with him! Don't shoot the messenger, and to be honest, I don't believe it either!

Badja

Agree2 Disagree0

Riquelme has been a free agent since the summer so still could happen with the Argentinian link, would be a surprise to say the least if it does happen though

Agree2 Disagree1

Lens is having a medical now he has agreed personal terms so as we sighn one winger we sell another in Steve de ridder on loan at Bolton

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Would be a great signing, but where has this rumour come from?

Agree4 Disagree3

No he's not there - don't lie

Agree3 Disagree3

Lots of websites

Agree1 Disagree2

Matchwood has closed.

Agree1 Disagree1

Official news is that De Ridder loan is our last piece of business in this window

Agree1 Disagree1

All business is done so this is not true

Agree1 Disagree3

Not happening. Been confirmed we are stagnating as other teams are buying some good players. Not impressed.

Agree2 Disagree4

Well this was total rubbish. Why on earth post something as specific as this when it was going to be found to be rubbish so soon after. Pathetic

Agree4 Disagree0

Apparently & various rumour sources via news is that Lens was practically signed & the club were on the verge of announcing it but they could not get the paperwork done in time hence it came to nothing. I fully expect this deal to be done early on in the next transfer window thus giving him the chance to train with the squad pre season

Riquelme to saints is all over twitter all of a sudden!

Believable2 Unbelievable5

No why would we want 34 year old defonatly not

Trev saint

Agree1 Disagree0

Hope not. The only benefit of this would be that he'll come on a free transfer. But he's 34 so a bit past it.

Hearing from staplewood that lens is there

oh yes
cts

Believable1 Unbelievable7

I really hope so. . But I smell Bull. .

Agree3 Disagree0

Got lost on the way to QPR?

Agree4 Disagree0

Why would he be at Staplewood?

Agree0 Disagree0

To have a medical what do you think

Agree0 Disagree3

No he's not. Don't lie

Agree1 Disagree0

As its closed he's not going to find much

Agree1 Disagree0

Not sure if this is true but don't players have medicals at Solent Uni rather than the training ground?

Agree1 Disagree0

Steve DeRidder gone on loan to Bolton.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Where did you hear this? It isn't on the website? :/

Agree0 Disagree1

Boltons official twiiter

Agree1 Disagree0

It's all over the Bolton newspaper as well. So it's a real rumour. The only reason it hasn't been confirmed is that we are holding out to sign a winger to replace him.

Aussie Saint

Agree1 Disagree1

Boltons official twitter doesn't say anything about this deal. Get your fact right before posting

Agree0 Disagree3

All confirmed via Saints official twitter - apparently a month long deal

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes it does and our twitter does, so get your facts right before speaking

Agree2 Disagree0

That makes Riquelme rather than Lens sound the most likely, as they could be worried about whether a 34 year old's body will hold up for 4-5 months so have the option of recalling De Ridder if need be.

Aussie Saint

Agree1 Disagree2

31 Jan 2013 21:10:48
News in. . is that Barnard is off to Oldham and De Ridder is off to Bolton but the De Ridder deal is being kept till last minute as we try and sign a winger. Lens? I think so.

Hearing that if it's going to be anyone in these last few hours, it'll either be Piatti on loan or Lens for a rather large fee. Quite frankly I'd rather have Piatti; he's younger, shows more potential and could fit into Southamptons current and future mould better. Here's hoping on one of these two tonight!

- TJ

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Who cares about pottential if your only getting the player in loan?

Agree4 Disagree1

Piatti looks like he will be a good player. Do you know if the loan will be witha move to buy?

Agree0 Disagree0

But surely if its a loan deal then it doesn't matter if he will fit into the future mold because he will only be with us till the end of the season unless there is a sell on fee agreed in his loan.

ginger saint

Agree2 Disagree0

Lens has a big ego so part of me doesn't want him at saints.

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree but I'd rather have lens I think he would make puncheon play even better than he already is and lens is quality like quality streets the red ones

Agree4 Disagree0

We are signing neither. . why discuss it further?

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes we are

Agree0 Disagree3

No we aren't. Been confirmed we aren't.

Southampton just had a 9m bid accepted for Jermaine Lens
Marquee time
COYR

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Is this made up? I think so, no signings will take place this window as we are playing the best football of our lives right now and we don't want to infect the squad

Agree5 Disagree3

9m is a lot for a player who was valued around 6m in the summer

Agree3 Disagree1

I really hope this is true. We need strength in depth and he would be a great addition to the squad

Agree4 Disagree0

Please let this be correct

Agree5 Disagree0

Sincerely doubt it, but I hope you're right and I'm wrong!

Agree5 Disagree0

We have already signed a player this window so the, "no signings this window comment is daft!"

Agree2 Disagree0

And Forte to Sheff U

Agree2 Disagree0

I have seen this to, keep calm only four and a half hours to go

Agree2 Disagree0

Watched a compilation video of his goals online earlier, would be a great addition pacey, skilful and a very clinical finisher, lets hope this is true!

Agree2 Disagree0

Newcastle in for him as well, just received a msg off someone up north.

Agree1 Disagree2

Where's this info from? I can't find anything. Seems a lot of money for him. . he's good but that's a lot of money

Agree1 Disagree0

West Ham paid 10 million for Jarvis in the summer, and I think Lens is a lot better than Jarvis. .

Aussie Saint

Agree0 Disagree0

Gosh. What a suprise. It didn't happen. I'm so stunned. . .

Saints have contacted Valencia over a possible loan deal for Argentine international Pablo Piatti who has been frozen out this season. Piatti wants first team football. Lead to believe the deal is progressing.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Please be true. This deal would be perfect for both parties. Hopefully could get a loan with the choice of buying for this young and talented winger. I so hope this is bull.

- TJ

Agree1 Disagree1

Pablo Piatti now given go ahead to fly to Southampton for medical after loan deal agreed between Saints and Valencia.

Agree2 Disagree1

I can't find any info on this loan deal.

Agree1 Disagree1

Nor me. Where are you all getting this rather specific info from?

QPR just had a £5million bid rejected by saints for rickie lambert

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Did that really happen I know they are trying to sign everyone but I doubt harry thought he'd have any chance with that one.

Agree5 Disagree0

Old saggy face wants to look else where, he aren't having our talisman

Agree6 Disagree0

Oh that would be wise are player that can score?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't be surprised because super Ricky Lambert is a top top top top top top top top top top top top top player isn't he Harry?

Agree1 Disagree0

Be warned - all the evidence indicates that Southampton will not be signing players before the window closes.

Understand that the manager wants to reassess the squad over the rest of the season, before spending in the summer.

Yes - Shaw is being chased by Arsenal (he has a release clause) but Shaw is likely to stay until at least next season.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Evidence that changing manager in mid-January was a foolish decision by Cortese

Agree7 Disagree9

I highly doubt that we'd have put a release clause in his contract. This would have been before he broke into the first team, so there would have been little desire to leave or interest in him when it was signed, and he's always been considered a top prospect. I can't see Cortese ever putting release clauses in any players contracts, unless ones for if we get relegated.

Agree5 Disagree0

What evidence is there that it is a 'foolish' decision? Was it the loss to Man U? Give em a chance, you forget where you where 2 years ago, effing plastic supporter.

Agree7 Disagree2

Should never of changed manager full stop!!

Agree2 Disagree7

Yes Adkins has gone and we were all disgusted by it but give the new guy half a chance he's had two games which we were expected to lose anyway and he's got a point at home to Everton, who have only lost 3 league games since March, and the team was labelled the best to have gone to Old Trafford this season and the ONLY team to have created more chances than United at Old Trafford this season. Give it an effing rest, give him a chance and get behind the boys, for christ's sake. It's getting boring now.

Agree9 Disagree1

How can he have a release clause when he doesn't sign until he is 18?

Agree6 Disagree0

To the person calling me a plastic supporter: I was merely making the point that changing a manager in the middle of January is unwise as it gives the new manager very limited time to assess the squad, enquire into potential players and make firm offers. Pochettino has said himself he hasn't had time to think about new signings - being occupied assessing a new team - and in my opinion that indicates poor timing on Cortese's part - no matter how well we do in the next few months.

Agree4 Disagree4

Ridiculous filth.
Luke Shaw has an agreement to sign a give year contract. He cannot legally sign the deal until he is 18. He will their sign a 5 year deal in the summer. No chance if him goinng before

Agree5 Disagree0

I concur, utter ridiculous filth

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2013 11:30:35
Beware Arsenal are after Luke Shaw again. He hasn't actually signed a contract with us yet has he? He is suppose to sign in July and he said that he only agreed for Nigel but after yesterday performance there is no need to leave is there?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Funny that because in his interview after he agreed he said the interview and agreement was with cortesse

Agree5 Disagree0

He agreed it all with the Chairman. NC knew what was happenning so wouldn't put too much store in this 'he did it for Nigel'.

Agree4 Disagree0

Shaw can't sign till he's 18, he's signed a pre agreement to sign when he turns 18, a la Walcott he can still leave but we command a larger transfer fee instead of a tribunal. Last night he was unfit due to a bug in Barcelona

Agree3 Disagree0

He can sign before he is 18 but a max of 3 years contract. after he turns 18 he can sign a 5 year. this is better for WHEN we sell on.

Agree0 Disagree1

Was it the Jason Puncheon bug ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

Shaw signed a 3 yr contract when he turned 17. He has agreed to sign a 5yr contract when he turns 18.

If Shaw was currently not under contract he could leave on a free for a minimal 'compensation' fee.

Photographers outside training ground entrance, live in Marchwood just been past. First team up north so it's not for them!

Believable4 Unbelievable5

I went past there not long ago aswell, and there are no photographers anywhere near the staduim.
Forget this rumour people

Agree4 Disagree3

I imagine they're there on the off chance someone shows up.

Agree2 Disagree0

The original post said TRAINING GROUND and not STADIUM!

Agree5 Disagree1

This is confusing. Are these talking about 2 different places. I would expect photographers outside the training facility - equipment for medicals etc - not the stadium (St Mary's)

Agree4 Disagree0

QPR have put in a bid for everyone in our squad. FACT: As they have actually bid on every player in Europe

Agree12 Disagree1

Yeah offered over the odds as normal wanted some change for the fiver they stumped up

Agree0 Disagree0

I can assure you they were there 8:45 this morning. Went past again 4pm no one there now.
