Just reading last years accounts, £6.7m from commercial revenue doesn't seem a lot, hence RK saying this is an area in need of development. Kind of illustrates how important a rich benefactor has been and is maybe a reality check for the Cortese lemmings expecting champions league football?
I'd like to compare our commercial revenue with say Newcastle's or even Sunderland's. I recon both sell a lotta shirts get big crowds and have wealthy benefactors.
One looks certain to be playing championship football next year and the other is owned by a man the supporters hate.
Why can't we just be happy and not get ahead of ourselves?

When you consider the amount we have saved in transfers from bringing through players the 30 million on the Acadamy looks good value. Plus, it will be there for many years to come.
I think we have it covered. Look how much we will get from Sky just for being in the Prem.
That's a very good point well said.

This summer could be huge for Southampton as well. If whichever of our English starts perform well at the world cup then it could be a huge boost to Southampton commercially.
That sounds like you're saying we'll get more for them when we sell them, not that we'll sell more shirts!

How many plastic fans and Chinese etc all over the world support teams because they like a player. Johan Cruyff, Messi, Totti, Zola. If Lallana stands out this world cup, or IF we can win it with the likes of Luke Shaw and company, we may get a bigger following. I think that's his point.
Maybe but I might win the lottery, highly unlikely but I could if I buy a ticket, or the owners could think now is the time to realise the maximum value for player A, B or whatever.
I really hate being seen as some sort of negative poster but half the people on here seem to live in dreamland IMO.
First year back in prem was last year, now we are in top half, fans and pundits all like and approve of our team, style of play etc. Can the fans who've had two pints too many get real?
