As I mentioned other day Hernandez. Now being linked with us in swap deal with shaw do you no how much he is valued at ed?or if he would be interested in coming south?is it possible koeman agreed to come and was down ok a few transfers etc?

Believable5 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in discussing money.}

Seen us linked with all kinds of players from sidwell to sinclair to hangeland. No real sign of investment of the money we'll most likely recieve from sale of lallana and shaw

Ok cheers :)

Wouldn't be the worst signing.

Hernandez would be a great signing, we've been lacking pace up front all of last season and Hernandez brings pace in abundance

We will be linked with every Tom-Dick & Harry until we put a manager in place, the 3 mentioned above are not what we will be looking for. If Koeman comes in i'm sure he will bring in a few gems from overseas.Hopefully the board will stand firm with players supposedly wanting to leave.COYR. & come on the World Cup. looking forward to it as we are not expecting anything. England to win 3-1 tonite.

Hernández is valued at approximately 14.5 million on the transfer market, although I would think Van Gaal would see it as more of a straight swap than the striker and money. This is only a guess on a rumour though, all sounds promising to me :)

Just lost a tenner. lol

ive seen hernandez rumours to italian sides for 10m which seems fair. 20 cash monies and hernandez.

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't see how he would see it as a straight swap if they have already vid 27 mil, be better off taking the cash then going in for him and have 14 or 15 mil change

Agree2 Disagree0

@Smirky, things aren't always fair in football, a swap involving a defender and a striker is very rare. Even at the age of 18 and playing in the first team, Luke Shaw still needs more development and may not be able to perform consistently in every game (I think he's a great player and I am his fan but every player can struggle, he wasn't performing as usual against Ecuador). That said Javier Hernández has been consistently prolific for years and can be a game changer.

This is not a criticism of Shaw but I would expect Van Gaal to look at the transfer in this way, for use in a squad, Hernández is the more valuable player.

Therefore I would assume a straight swap. Personally I'm not expecting a game changing, world class striker and 14/15 million (the value of Hernández again) for an 18 year old defender who has huge potential.

Hi ED this is my first post so hi everyone else. Question is there a sell on clause for Osvaldo like a percentage to roma if we sell and what's the chance of him going? Thanks ed ta

{Ed002's Note - I don't know anything of his contract.}

Coyr get koeman in and quickly. We want koeman and nobody else. So sort it and announce it

Felix Magath - ex Fulham etc has just jumped to #2 favourite in the bookies list as our next manager - although Koeman is still 13. 5 times more likely to become the manager according to the odds.

Strange. Don't want him at all

Agree12 Disagree0

Can't see him getting it as he's just been relegated

Agree9 Disagree0

PLEASE GOD NO!!!!!!!!

Agree12 Disagree1

He won the bundesliga with Wolfsburg. Fulham were dreadful before he was appointed, and he managed to improve them ( although not keep Fulam up )
I don't think he is all that bad an option IMHO

Agree3 Disagree6

I think he would be a superb appointment. He has a proven record in the bundesliga and as posted before He had no real chance at Fulham. However what I did see was some good performances from a rubbish team. Imagine if he could manage our squad and have 60million to invest +. Great knowledge of German players he would bring players in with a professional winning mentality. Can only be good

Agree3 Disagree6

Ok. maybe a slight over reaction by my good self but just want us to do better. Seemed a little defensive with Fulham. Seems his stats don't lie however.

Agree4 Disagree1

A track record of success in Germany, but doesn't strike me as a good fit for the "Southampton way". Alienates a lot of players he works with.

But there's plenty of worse options out there, I suppose.

Friend of mine from Sweden is telling me rumours in the press over there are saying that Hernandez might come to us as part if the Shaw deal.
I think I'd be pretty happy with that. What do others think?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I think hernandez would fit perfectly into our style of play and with ramirez playing through the middle if lallana goes (hopefully not) then we would continue to see some high up the pitch, possession games. Nice to hear some rumours about people coming in. COYR

Agree4 Disagree3

Not sure, Hernandez is obviously a goal scorer, but would offer much in terms of link up play? I'd rather we went for other targets personally

Agree5 Disagree2

Jld, what is our style of play? Since we don't have a manager I'm not entirely sure we can really speculate as to who will fit and who won't fit out squad. Personally, I can't see Hernandez wanting to come to Saints.

Agree4 Disagree0

We a goal scorer inside the 18yrd box proper old school poacher, no point in having loads of link up players without anyone to tuck away the chances

Agree5 Disagree0

I think Hernandez just wants regular first team football. If kl is still interested and the dream is still alive I think we have a chance of luring him here. I'd imagine dell daze that our style of play will continue in the same vain it did with Nigel and mauricio.

Agree2 Disagree1

It doesn't matter what style of play you have all styles need a goal scorer he is deadly around the penalty box, and I think he would have something to prove to it'd if he came here, give kl some slack I'd rather they kept there cards close to there chest than being linked with every player in the world like spurs and liverpool

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes but Smirky after losing Lambert we have lost that link up play up the top, which will miss a lot next season so needs replacing and I think there are better all round players out there to look at and I agree with Jld that our next manager will be selected on having a similar philosophy to Mauricio.

I have a nasty feeling that the main issue which led to both Cortese and Pochettino leaving is actually money, the size of the transfer budget. Koeman would want a sizable budget to work with if he comes to Saints. I don't think he will be appointed sadly. Magath is an interesting one, he really didn't impress me at Fulham, even if they were a lost cause. Saints need to make statement of intent. The press and football fans will react according to whoever is appointed. Given that I don't have any faith in Reed or Krueger , if less than a top rank manager is appointed I and most will assume that a fire sale is on they way. Liebherr take note, if you care about this club, do not get this decision wrong, you haven't exactly set the world on fire with your decisions to date.

I think we should push j-rod up a little next season. We missed him a lot towards the end of the season and with some pace up front (hernandez or even gallagher) we could get over the loss of lambert. I think that people leaving is inevitable with the team we had last year but the money we get in could solve the lower transfer budget if like monte thinks we have a lower one this year.
