There are a lot of reports linking us with a club record bid of £16 million for FC Braga's Rafael Silva. The Portuguese wonder-kid (hailed as the next Cristiano Ronaldo) has scored 9 goals in 20 games and we have sent scouts numerous times this season to watch him. It is looking very likely that this deal is going to happen and if so, does this mean that Poch is planning for next season? thus meaning that he has intentions to stay with us! Hopefullt, but what do you guys think of this deal if it happens? Would you like us to sign him - baring in mind that it would potentially be a club record bid or do you think the money could be spent in more important areas?

Believable7 Unbelievable6

He's 5"7 and not remotely similar to Ronaldo other then being Portuguese and a forward/winger. Closer to Messi if we're making these kinds of comparisons.
Beyond that I keep a good eye on the Portuguese league (Go Sporting!) and have to say he is a real talent and he fills a hole we're lacking. He's a player who, like Lallana, could really link our midfield and forwards together.

Agree12 Disagree1

I have to disagree. the Portuguese league is a much easier league than premiership.
its no different to the scottish league. hooper was class at celtic and has struggled this season.
i think we should be looking at players who are already in the premiership, or even playing in germany.

Agree3 Disagree6

Hooper hasn't been great but its not his fault that the midfield behind him severely lack in creativity and the tactics/formation Norwich plays doesn't seem to create any chances for him

Agree4 Disagree4

Hooper only seems to be doing badly because he is trying to score enough goals to even out being part of the worst defence in the league

Agree2 Disagree4

Hooper used to play for Celtic in the top division of the worst league in Europe as did a few other over rated players. When will people learn?

Agree4 Disagree1

Slow down the Spl isn't the worst league in Europe the Airtricity League is the worst along with Some others

Agree1 Disagree3

Rickie lambert and adam lallana used to play in the 3rd tier of english football. Now look at them.

Seriously, people dismiss players because they are a star in their division.

I wonder what they said when we signed future england striker and highest scorer in the premier league Lambert.

Agree8 Disagree1

The Portuguese league is relatively strong. It may not be the strength of the Premiership, Bundesliga, La Liga or Serie A but that doesn't mean it is a doss league. Unlike the SPL the top spots are relatively well contended in the Portuguese league so that means he is at least getting tested most weeks which is good for a players development.

Let us not forget also that Wanyama is former SPL and he has turned out to be quite a useful asset to the midfield. So give the weaker leagues a chance because they can produce talent. This kid looks good and could be a huge asset next season.

Agree3 Disagree1

Useful or useless?

Agree0 Disagree0

Benfica ripped spurs open in the week. The league can't be all that bad. Plus it produced the current best player in world football. And for those mugging off Scottish football didn't we sign a £12million midfielder from up there that everyone seems to think was a good signing? You do get great players in lesser leagues - Hendrik Larsson (Scotland) Zlatan Ibrohimavic (Swedish second tier) Mohammed Salah (Switzerland) Berbatov (Bulgarian A PFC).

Heard a rumour of a deal with Bayern Munich, where Mandzukic joins us in exchange for Schneiderlin + a fee thought to be around 5-10m.

This is due to us having Cork, Wanyama, Davis, JWP and Reed coming through, and Bayern getting Lewandowski in the summer

Believable5 Unbelievable22

Not entirely unrealistic, but Schneiderlin is without a doubt our best central midfielder, we'd be stupid to let him go.

Agree17 Disagree1

Think you'll find we're left with Vic, JWP, Reed and possibly Davis if spider did go which is hardly something to shout about.

Agree0 Disagree15

We need to retain Morgan.

Agree2 Disagree0

As much as I love Morgan, Manzukic would be incredible. Will literally never happen. Real shortage of top class strikers - Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs in the PL alone who are bigger than us & in need.

Been told by somebody who is in the know that we are looking to bring in Celtic defender Virgil Van Dijk in the summer, Jesus Perez was reported a few months back watching celtic i. e Frazer Forster but Van Dijk impressed so much with his ability to dribble the ball from out the back.

So with that one, not sure on price but think it could cost upwards of 8million after a impressive first season up in the Spl.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Would be a good signing. Just a shame we didn't go for him last summer when he was still highly regarded and went relatively cheaply.

Agree2 Disagree2

Why? This site is full of people moaning about Jos, before that Foxy and big Vic so why would we buy another from such a poor league? Why?

Agree8 Disagree1

I agree. scottish football isn't a good standard. even I can play well up there

Agree2 Disagree3

Please not another muppet from Celtic. Are they our feeder club?

Agree2 Disagree2

Great. Another Jos! me thinks webbo rumour: Nope - we are after a SOLID CB, not a Ronaldo CB. He will come :)

Agree0 Disagree1

I'd just like to point out neither Jos or Danny Fox were huge successes in Scotland either. Wanyama on the other hand was, and I'm still convinced he will be a good signing for Southampton. Boruc was a success story for Celtic and overall has been a solid signing for Celtic. Don't complain about your duds being from Cetic when we considered them duds originally.
