Saphir Taider will sign on loan with for the season with view to a transfer in the region of 7 million. The move will see Dani Osvaldo leave on loan with the option to buy roughly around 10 million euros.

That is some good news but we still need centre half and forward goalkeeper need to go for it not to low bid take to long and allow another clubs to go in for them come on saints slap the clash

We have absolutely no chance of getting 10 million euros for Osvaldo. In fact I don't think anybody will ever buy him, would you?

Virgil Van Dijk is thought to be high on Koeman's agenda and has been a long time admirer away back to his days at Groningen.

Media seems to report we are still in the chase for rojo. We will be after a cb, and I believe the board know that we still need a top quality cb. It's well known that we have already put a big bid in for him, over ten mil, which was rejected. We won't go from bidding that for a cb, to not signing one at all.

Bite their hands off for that price
get him on board

Virgil Van Dijk is now (apparently) being tracked by Newcastle 8m the asking price, just sign him up, we've sold for 20m surely 8m is good business?

Not sure about you lot but Taider and Schelotto were never even on the bottom of my wanted list. Still it seems that's the only way to get shot of Osvaldo, just hope we are not inheriting two liabilities and getting rid of one.

He would sign to work with Koeman over newcastle anyday.

What's that smell? Smells like bull. well you get the idea with that.

Aha that explains why taider didn't sign tonight I guess. I can picture it now him poised to sign his contract then les barges in yanks the contract from him and says don't need you now sunny we are all off to las vegas with the bonuses we just got no money left for transfers toodle pip. As he runs out the door with crisp 50s flying out his back pocket.

bit annoying Newcastle have signed 9 players
god knows who were trying to get
but i'd like to think these players know each other from either national or club sides

Well with Koeman saying that he wants to bolster our squad with '2 or 3 more signings' last weekend and also saying that Taider would bring quality to the squad should we get him in, I would strongly doubt that your friend is correct. I would also suggest that Koeman is both clever and experienced as a manager and I would trust him to realize that we need to strengthen in certain areas. I would seriously question this idea that we are done for business.

Whilst I don't agree with the original poster, the hysterical replies smack of fans affected by denial.
I see to recall similar responses whenever someone warned about Shaw leaving. "he won't go, he loves this club, he loves the fans, he signed a new contract. oh"
There is an emerging trend which continues to suggest that Southampton don't have as much money as thought. This would explain some of the hard haggling over Forster and Rojo, as well as why there has been less activity than hoped for.
Nothing to panic about. Board seem to be doing a good job. Pragmatic and careful.

Apparently, we have an agreement in place to sign Fraser Forster if (when) Celtic are eliminated from the Champions League. I think that this would be a fantastic signing. What do you guys think?
Believable13
Unbelievable8
That would mean we were getting a new signing this week. can it really be?
Agree2

I personally don't think a new goalkeeper is our main priority. I think Boruc is an outstanding keeper and doesn't need replacing. I'm getting a bit concerned by the seemingly lack of talk about a centre back. The three we have at the club are at best adequate but far from outstanding. £10 million on Fraser Forster seems an awful lot of money which should be better spent on a top notch defender.
Agree10
Disagree7
Yes it will be great to sign him as Boric will not be around for long
Agree10
Disagree5
GK is obviously a position that needs addressing at some point as Boruc only has a year left on his contract and the back-up is absolutely hopeless.
I'm just not sure it should be the priority right now, when the squad is horribly thin at CB and in the attacking positions.
If Saints really are penny pinching and not reinvesting much of the transfer monies earned this summer, it makes no sense to spend big on a position where they're in relatively good shape - Boruc is certainly a decent enough first choice keeper for a mid table PL side.
Forster's got potential. Needs to dominate his box better and his kicking's rotten, but he's a big unit with excellent reflexes.

Promising keeper. Can he play centre -half though? I am having visions of Hooiveld at centre back. Please no!!

That would be great but we need a centre half we can't go with what we got?
Agree8
Disagree1
Yes will be good signing but I'm starting to get a little upset with the lack of activity at the moment. Now there is talk of us signing a bunch of IMO below standard players! Friday we were supposed to see two new signing announced over the weekend and nothing? Someone needs to pull their finger out were the sun don't shine as in less than two weeks we are off.
Agree4
Disagree2
I agree that CB is a priority but GK is a position that needs addressing as Boruc is 34 and we need to look to the future, also I don't thin Gazzaniga or Cropper are up to being back up yet
Agree5

05 Aug 2014 18:11:27
Boruc should still be number1, forster has very little experience in top flight, big big mistake if boruc leaves, why do people suggest 34 is to old for a keeper, he is in his prime!
Agree5
Disagree4
Fantastic signing because Boruc is a terrible Goal Keeper, right?
Best league position for years, clean sheets, goals conceded etc.
That's why we need to pay millions for a keeper who's played in the Scottish Pub League for a few seasons.
Honestly I see things differently, I must be stupid.

Apologies for my recent post about De Vrij, I now know he went to Lazio. I think we missed out there big time though. Missed the transfer and must have read an old post linking him to Man Utd.

Foster fine, if it ever happens, as we never seem able to finalise transfers. with LR at the helm.
If by some stroke of luck he joins then surely Boruc must remain also or we are back to square one.
What about centre backs/ strikers seems deafly silence apart from crazy rumours. Will this board ever learn or is it all some master plan!

Just seen on a web page here that De Vrij is probably still available. If so what a buy he would be, he makes Van Djick look like a Pompey player. Not saying this is totally true but have just seen it. Maybe some of you learned folk could update me on this.

Roma are in for him too. He cost spuds 8.5 million last summer and if you apply the transfer fee logic of measuring him as a player we could well be looking at a future Liverpool bid of 20m

I would like to be a fly on the wall in the offices of the hallowed St Marys and actually know what is going on. Got a feeling that RoKo has probably tried to sign several players so far but I wonder whether the players themselves are the ones that are turning US down and not the other way around. On the other hand we don't want to beg players to join us if they not going to give 110% effort as the last thing we need are mercenaries who do not believe in team spirit, Osvaldo for example.
Agree3

I think Saints need a leader at the back. No offence to Fonte, but surely Saints can afford a Vlaar type player -particularly as Koeman's obviously Dutch and he can clearly and concisely explain all the nuances of a very important position at the back. A quality centre half before the weekend. Yes please Mr. Reed
Agree4

We can get Ron Vlaar just pay the money and buy him. He just could be the difference between surviving reasonably or struggling against relegation.

I wish I were 20 years younger, Frank. I would play for Saints for sweet f. a. And I wouldn't leave my head in Liverpool or kiss the badge, then depart on demand. Surely Koeman knows that we need a quality purchase or two, minimum. Surely?

I have a feeling we might not be needed, thank god Frank. Let's hope Rojo signs. Or a similar type of centre half. We seem to have plenty of midfielders now, need to work on the defence now and dare I say another striker?

Reports Link Joel Veltman for a move to St Marys for 6 Million in addition to Gaston Rameriez heading back to Italy with Genoa on Loan.
But Perhaps Not so good is rumours that Koeman wants to bring in freed Celtic Midfielder Georgios Samaras and Newcastle Forward Shola Ameobi

How is Ramirez leaving on loan a good thing? Having him stay on is very important. We want to keep our remaining players, particularly the more talented ones. He will get much more of a chance to prove himself for us this season.
