Hey everyone, d say that
Firstly, I think I have to go with the general concensus that Hooiveld, Fox, (probably) Sharp, Forte, Guly and maybe Tadanari Lee. All of these are either only on the outskirts of the team (Hooiveld, Fox, Guly and Lee)) or waating our time on loan in the lower leagues ( Forte and Sharp).
Secondly, I think that £6m+ for Lambert is good price for an ageing England striker who is losing his ability. However, I think that we should wait for the end of season (maybe after the World Cup just so that we may have a player in England squad) and that he is playing quite a key role this season especially for the youngsters.
Thirdly, we should keep gaston as he is, despite what we have seen of him as late, is good little player and at his age can only improve.
Forthly, We really need to add to the squad. We need 1 high quality cb, 1 good goalkeeper or 1 to back up/ give competition to Boruc and 1 striker who can really finish. We should go for Astori or Wiston reid at centre back. Yann Sommer in Goal. Jordan Rhodes or Hernandez up front to finish our many oppotunities. The strikers will be good enough for a few seasons until players like Sam Gallagher comes through to become a good, permanent first team player.
Finally, I hate to be a pessimist, but people should really stop saying we can still push for Europe vis the lesgue. We are 9th 6 points off 8th and 4 points above 10th. We should really be ending up 10th at the end of the season.
Happy New Year everyone

Lambert being sold maybe good business but I can't see oswaldo producing the goals or assists of Ricky the fans favourite also I can't see lallana be at st Mary's much longer unless they double his wages he's a level above any other player.

Europe we can't compete in the premier league at the moment we seem to have a team so fit and a great work ethic but just seem to have lost their way, we must be near the bottom on the latest league form.

^ Lallana's going nowhere, he signed a 5 year deal in jan last year so even if he wanted to go we wouldn't let him, Rickie's not going anywhere, MoPo wants him around, give Osvaldo til next season, how many people were saying J-Rod + Lallana weren't cut out for the prem last season? Exactly, have some patience with them

Winston reid u jokin seriously

It seems you're forgetting about he fact that Aaron Martin and Lee Barnard still play for the club and should also be on the exit list

Chelsea mull Luke Shaw swap deal that would see Blues left-back Ryan Bertrand join
Ryan Bertrand + £8m the media are saying what utter rubbish yet more crazy story's from the lame stream media?

So Chelski want Luke Shaw. not that we would need to sell but £15m + Lukaku would do thanks very much.

Plus 8 mil? haha whoever made that up needs to stop smoking crack!

I saw Bertrand and Ba plus 8 million! I think that is a good deal if Shaw wants to go. Maybe even push for the keeper on loan at athletico

10 mill + Lukaku and courtois, meh I can dream.

Hi a Chelsea fan here. I agree with you lot, £8mil and Bertrand for Shaw is ridiculous! I believe Shaw will end up a Chelsea player to be honest because he's a fan and obviously a top talent but he won't be on the cheap! But in reply to the above comments, no offence but Courtouis is far too good for you, he's easily top 5 goalkeepers in the world already and he's only 20/21! Oh and I just want to point out you giving Chelsea a lot of stick last season after you drew with us and beat us, well we've done the double over you this season! All seriousness now though I hope you do well this season and credit to your club for producing so many fantastic English players!

Hi Chelsea fan-so if you supported a club as a child that's where you will go as a player?
Good job I don't want to go to Barca. on holiday, wouldn't be able to get a seat on the 'plane for it being full of footballers!
Grasping at straws comes to mind.
Ignore the London press feeding you horse manure. They repeat the same rubbish about you and Luke every transfer window, and same with Lambert and West Ham United every window. It is all fabrication.

Lets face it, Shaw is here for the duration of his contract, so 5 years, maybe more, unless we've kicked on and become a consistent top 6 club by then he'll probably leave. Will he go to Chelsea? Who knows, 5 years is a long time, maybe Abramovich will leave? Maybe Chelsea will do a pompey? Maybe Chelsea will have another transfer embargo, maybe they'll be the biggest club in the world by then. Who knows, Maybe Luke will be like Le Tiss was and Lallana is now, a one club man, all we know is, Luke is a Southampton player and will be for the immediate future

Shaw to Chelsea could well happen at some point but.
1) It is unlikely to be anything like as soon as any paper or Chelsea fan thinks. I have spoken to several and they are still convinced Southampton will let him go this summer, I'd imagine he has much more time than that left with us.
2) This is more along the lines of what the Chelsea fan said but the papers definitely get the value of which he would be sold for wrong. Cortese isn't a sucker and I'd have hoped people would have started to get that message now.
3) Don't discount the chance he may actually be speaking the truth when he says he has no intention of leaving. Southampton has built a very friendly team atmosphere where players are genuine friends very well supported by each other and the club. That has created an atmosphere of them all wanting to stay as part of a team community rather than just a team.

There is no way courtois is one of the best in the world, Luke seems to mature and humble to join a moneybag club like you.
Agree3
Disagree2
Courtois is definitely one of the best 'keepers in the world, watch him more often if you don't believe me
Agree3
Disagree1
If Courtois was what you are making him out to be, he would be recalled and started over cech. He wouldn't be on loan if he was that good.
Agree2
Disagree1
But would they? Cech is one of the best 'keepers in the world too, why would you replace him and risk losing him? Cech for the past couple of seasons has had the edge because of his experience. Chelsea sent Courtois out on loan for two seasons to get some first team experience so he'd be ready to replace an ageing Cech, athletico paid a fee for the loan, Chelsea have no re-call clause due to that, next season Courtois will probably be no 1. Barca wouldn't be interested if he wasn't good

I think 20 clean sheets in 38 La Liga appearances last season speaks for itself
Agree2

Gazzaniga would probably get 20 clean sheets in La Liga too.
Take the top three clubs (Barca, Real Madrid and Atletico) out of it, and it is quite a dire league. Prem's better standard, in my view.
Tortoise (as I call him) is a good 'keeper, and he is too good for Chelsea.
Jack Butland turned Chelsea down for a very good reason (picking Stoke in favour of Chelsea) and I'm hoping/half-expecting Luke Shaw to do the same.

Tadanari Lee is all set to return to the J-League.
Maya Yoshida also contemplating leaving the Saints in order to get more first team football.
Believable17
Unbelievable2
It wouldn't surprise me to see Maya Yoshida leave, as he will want to play in the World Cup.
Last year I thought he was probably our best CB, but this year he has struggled to get into the first team.
Agree11
Disagree2
Yup - I noted this further down the page, Tandanari Lee isn't going to be missed [but does this free up a squad space?] but with Hooiveld being so out of his depth the club would be mental to let Maya go unless they had a least as good as but preferable better replacement lined up. I still think that a new centre back is on the cards, I'm not sure about the frontline or midfield. Provided we don't get anymore long-term injuries or suspensions the three main ones we have up front should cover us this season. Although we do seem to create a lot of chances without scoring a lot of goals.
I wonder if there is a plan in place for next season's squad upgrades already?
Agree6
Disagree1
Looking at the way Cortese has worked his magic over the years, there will be several options that Saints are following, and not just for next summer.
It's been reported that the scouting and background checks on Lovren were second to none. Saints has invested heavily in it's scouting system, meaning that last minute panic buys won't happen at Saints.
Agree3
Disagree0
Only reason we think hoovered is bad is because he is being played with fox. When he plays with fox he worries became fox constantly tries to play upfront. Hoovield then has to cover centre back and left back which isn't fair. When he plays with shaw, he is much bettet
Agree2

West Ham might be interested in bidding now for the likes of Yoshida, Hooiveld and Foxy.
All three would certainly help the Hammers gain promotion next season ;)
Agree3

Yoshida is a terrible centre half and hope he leaves very soon. He runs off and leaves his man to go attack a ball 20 yards away, misses and leaves Saints in trouble. Does it every game so counting down the days until he leaves.

I though yoshi was our best defender last year

Nottingham Forest are lining up a move for Danny Fox. And have been told they can sign him for as little as 500K.
Only stumbling block will be his wages

Haven't they got Dan Harding? I always rated Harding over Fox anyway!
Agree17

Yup, we got rid of the wrong player,
should've kept Harding.

Saw Harding play for them today against Burnley, very talented player and what a mistake to not keep him over Fox.

Now you're starting to see why NC got rid of Adkins

Harding was a good player. Shame he left. He was a real hard worker as well. Poch would have liked his ethic. If forest miss promotion who knows

Fraser Richardson also a great player that we got rid of. Saw him last season v villa - he was immense.
