Danish media reportis Saints having submitted a bid on roughly 10 mio. £. The striker hasn't had much success in Arsenal nor Juve and will have to settle for a smaller club, as Gunners aren't willing to give him another chance.

I do not understand this post in the slightest. There is no named player and I can't imagine saints agreeing to spend 10 million pounds on someone who has to 'settle for a smaller club'.

I don't think we'd pay 10 million for Bendtner
Agree8

Taking three clues (ie Danish, arsenal and Juve) I guess you're referring to bentner!
Agree6
Disagree1
If it's bentner!? He's in the mould of Lambert, I d take Lambert any day. End of.
Agree7
Disagree3
But we should start planning to replace Lambert in the long run. He was awesome last season and showed the doubters the quality he is but getting a great replacement in early and cheap would be good term long planning, even if the replacement is playing second fiddle to Lambert for a while.
Agree2

And Bentner isn't the right replacement
Agree6

How Bentner has managed to continue playing at top level clubs remains one of the great mysteries of modern football. Ta, but no ta!

Not saying we don't need another striker but have always seen JRod as Lambert's long term replacement.
Agree4

He's about exact level of player we can expect to sign, given some of the unrealistic rubbish spouted on here.

Bentdner - A legend - in his own mind
Agree6

Was an absolute disgrace when he wore those full-on pink boots and actually claimed they looked good. There are several reasons why saints shouldn't sign him but that is the main one.

Seager is his replacement lads!

Why do so many skates and other fans that dislike us post on our page, very sad. Or maybe it is just one guy, even sadder

Southampton are in talks with Cagliari for Davide Astori.

I was almost convinced until the Sun got involved lol

Player who gives away red cards and own goals, no thanks!

Name a defender who hasn't got a red card before or scored an O. G?!
Mini-Saint

He has only had 2 suspensions from yellows over the last season or two
Agree6
Disagree1
Firstly, have you seen the Italian style of play, any type of physical contest they go over and it's a booking, in the prem it's much more physical so is likely to fit his style of play.
Secondly look how many own goals Jamie Carragher has scored, is he a bad defender?
Agree5
Disagree1
He's in italy national squad - he must be half-decent
Agree7

Suspended for like 3 games over 3 seasons, not a bad disciplinary record at all and any things better than jos and fox's own goals this season. Would take astori over any other defenders we've been linked to
Agree8
Disagree1
I guess he will replace hoovield and try and beat his own goal record?
some times own goals aren't the players fault it does happen, I've scored a few myself lol

Niall Mason, on an apprentiship contract.

Apparently this guy is a beast in the making. Unfortunately he has the ego to match.
Agree2

One of the main thing that has impressed me over the years with the kids that we develop is that despite several of them being hugely talented, they all seem to have their feet on the ground, and seem well rounded individuals.
If this lad has a huge ego, I think Saints will probably work it out of him, or ship him on.
Agree2
Disagree0
Seen this lad play on numerous occassions. He is one hell of a signing and although a little bit big time (as I would be if I had this immense ability + got scouted for Real Madrid at 8) if he continues to improve then he will be a first team regular and potential England player in the future!

This is where the influence of people like Jason Dodds is so critical. If any big egos get past him, I would be surprised.

Sky Italia reporting that Davide Astori has agreed a transfer to Southampton and will sign next week. #saintsfc

I do hope so, but I see the list of clubs that are interested seems to be growing, with spurs on the list too. Hope he chooses us. I like the look of this guy and would end a year of speculation and state our intent. I don't like it when we are interested and lose out to players, makes us look in attractive to other players.

Southampton are close to agreeing a deal for Uruguayan winger Gonzalo Bueno ('El Zorro') of Nacional Montevideo for £8m according to the daily mail

Would be a very exciting signing.8m sounds like a lot for the young star maybe?
Looks like someone has amusingly already updated his Wikipedia profile to Saints

I see this rumour is gathering pace, looks like a good signing and realistic. Some striker that west brom are catching our eye too I see, for around 4 million. I'd like to see us spend a bit more on a striker though.
Agree1
Disagree1
Is he any good? Can't find much that makes me think he's worth that much
Agree3
Disagree1
Agree. Our style of play warrants spending money on a prolific goal scorer. We sadly lacked the killer final six yards in too many games despite some excellent build up play.
Agree5
Disagree1
Looking at his video clips, he's a very skillful winger, a good dribbler, that plays on the left, can also play on the right. The one thing I would say is that from the clips he seems to fall over every time someone goes near him. In the Prem, he'd need to try to stay on his feet more, but from the little I've seen he'd be a good addition.
Agree1

Bueno looks quick but from what I've watched online not so good on end product but its hard to judge on you tube clips.

De Ridder looks absolute mustard on YouTube!

It took ronaldo and Bale several seasons to have "end product". I think it's worth a punt on a 20 year old who won't be part of the 25 and shows real promise. Trust the scouts and trust the Don. Enjoy the ride.

He might turn out to be great but 8 million is certainly a bit more than a 'punt'

Since he's being chased by both Barca and Real Madrid, as well as others, I'd suggest that this is a bit of wishful thinking
Agree3

I don't know why everyone thinks players will automatically go to a big team just because they MIGHT be interested too. Southampton are a very attractive opportunity for young players and if they're smart they'll come to a team where they're guaranteed first team football in a growing team that will be challenging for champions league in a couple of seasons, rather than going and warming the bench/not make the squad/play in the b team of a 'big' club.
Have a positive mindset about your club for Christ sakes

There's being positive and being realistic. Many people just see the £ signs
