Saints should have a look at Danny Guthrie, on free transfer, would make a great signing. I don't think Rodrigues is worth 7m but he will be a great player in the future however I'd still prefer Garry Hooper. I'd also like us to sign Matt Jarvis, Jack Butland, Nathan Clyne and Mathew Upson (he'll bring experience to our back 4).

Spot on exect upson and hooper, upson to old and hooper is the same as jay rod hasn't played in prem but jay is younger and will become better than hooper
Agree6
Disagree3
And how do you know he will become better than Hooper? He's what 18 months younger and Hooper has played in Europe and has scored against the likes of Braga, Renne and Udinese.
Agree1
Disagree4
Its because he's expected to be a great player in the future that he's worth 7m
Agree5
Disagree1
If hooper doesn't move to prem in the near future, he will rote in SPL where as J-rod will become a decent striker for southampton in the prem. arsenal fan
Agree7

Being expected to be a great player and actually becoming one are two different things. Macheda at Utd was expected to become a great player and look at him
Agree0
Disagree1
This would be perfect but add knight or bassong and get Frazier cambell up front
WE NEED PACE
Agree0
Disagree3
Macheda hasn't got much playing time to show his full potineal and why bring him up anyway
Agree2

When did macheda prove he could score goals before his move? ...

''And how do you know he will become better than Hooper? He's what 18 months younger and Hooper has played in Europe and has scored against the likes of Braga, Renne and Udinese.''
... Well we are playing Udinese so if jay rod comes and he scores. Then your comment doesnt mean anything.

J-rod will get more chances than machedo has had!

Guthrie is a troublemaker his wedding fiasco with police called twice will put Saints off for sure. Cortese will have nothing to fo with him.Non starter..

After being resigned to losing clyne, crystal palace held talks with numerous clubs regarding the best deal they could get by selling him. This is not only regarding the pricetag, but developing a partnership with a premier league club and first look in on loan. They chose Southampton mainly due to their record of youth creating exciting academy stars. Aaron Martin will be just the first player going to Selhurst. A link will be developed between the clubs. Expect Butterfield, ward-prowse, Stephens, barbard, shaw, chaplow. These sorts of players to be playing some part at Selhurst Park next season. Clyne will be a hit at Southampton also.

Whilst it is obvious Clyne will leave Palace I wonder whether he fits Saints requirements that well. We already have a young talented right full back (Stephens), and whilst he is short of making the first team at this moment, is Clyne that much further forward?
Now, if you asked the same sort of question regarding Zaha, the answer I believe is that Saints would gain much more from that move.
Agree3
Disagree4
Let's hope so clyne would be brilliant but bigger teams are in for him and also palace are a good place for youngsters to gain experience and playing time :) let's hope this is true

Isnt Stephens a centre back and Shaw a left back?

Im friends with ward-prowse on facebook. i asked him couple of weeks ago about this rumor where hes going to torquay on loan. he said "not going anywhere", adkins gave him a pro contract so he can play apart in the premiership next season. if he didnt think he would get game time at saints he would have left
Agree4
Disagree3
Adkins said himself the youth players he offered professional contracts will be playing big roles the season! Can only see Martin and one other going On loan nOt our whole academy
Agree2
Disagree0
Martin is young with some first team experience, if he's not in the picture as he needs experience, so will the younger ones
Agree0

There's no way Clyne or Zaha will be joining Southampton - That's simply ridiculous

, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has dismissed claims that Newcastle have had talks with the Eagles regarding Nathaniel Clyne.
Parish said: “I read them and they are not true. It’s completely made up – I hate using those words but they have just got bad information.
“I had a chat to people there a while ago and they do quite like him – but that doesn’t mean they are going to buy him.”
Clyne has been offered a deal to stay at Palace but another Toon target in Wilfried Zaha has had a price of 10million slapped on him by the Selhurst Park side.

Dont think Saints interested in Clyne we already have Stephens who is as good anyhow. Just a bad rumour end of.

Nothing solid but i have a feeling that southampton could be in for Hamidou Jules. a 24 yo defender plays his trade in the Axpo League (Switzerland) hes from Tchad, so maybe could be a recomendation from Radhi Jahidi, like i said its not solid but i think we could be in for him as a premier league club (us) are in for him and a top championship club.

Aaron Martin goes on loan to Palace for the season.
Good move for him and us, he gets regular football, which helps him develop as a player, and I expect when he is back he will be ready for the first team
Believable10
Unbelievable1
As Martin is going to palace
This is possible that it's part of a deal to bring in zaha or clyne
Agree4

Yeah as soon as I heard the news I thought maybe this would help us get one of the Palace youngsters...I hope so
Agree0

Or saints have loaned him out to get vital experience, not part of any deal just get him playing some football, a full season under his belt ready for the 2013/14 season
Agree4

Zaha & Clyne won't be joining Southampton ... That's absolutely ridiculous

I reported last week that the Jay Rod deal would see one of ours go the other way as cash + player
My understanding was that Burnley wanted Butterfiled? However Chaplow has been reported today as going - there was some twitter banter over chaplow going last week
Shame good player on his day - good deal for Burnley

This is all lies chaplow not going anywhere only 7m to burnley and jay rod to saints

Chaplow said on twitter last week, that hes annoyed with the rumors that he is leaving, they are not true and hes looking forward to playing in the premiership with saints
Agree4
Disagree2
We wont let chaplow go! Not a chance. Hes a good player. Not sure if hes prem good but he always puts in 110% and we need players like that if were gunna do well next season
Agree4
Disagree2
As far as anyone knows, the deal is cash only, 6.5million going up to 7. That's more than enough. If Burnley want a player too, they are just being greedy. they could get several players with that money.
Agree2

I agree good player chaplow, i was told it was likley to be Butts that went
good to see Martin going out on loan to gain experience maybe Clyne or Zaha coming

Take De Bruyne on loan from Chelski.
Sign Rodders this week.

Yer but still great signing if we get him I mean why would he go to city or spurs(both interested in him) as they have brill keepers and would get no playing time. Come to saints!
