Forster's just been announced. Top, top signing that! Decent CB in now and we're looking stronger than last season imo

Believable7 Unbelievable13

I think you need to also at the very least add a striker to that list to say better team than last season

Agree11 Disagree0

CB, winger, striker needed - at the very least.

Koeman confirmed they'd had a bid rejected for Sam Byram, so they obviously think they need a RB too.

A lot of work to be done if they're going to get four (or more) extra signings in before the transfer window shuts, and no chance of having them in place for the start of the PL season - the Liverpool game's a write off if the XI that played today is the best available.

Agree6 Disagree6

Great signing Forster. We all know we need CB's and i'm sure we'll have one in before Scousehampton game. More likely to be Gardos than Rojo though. priority for me is a top striker and winger. We're terribly weak upfront imo. Hearing we put a bid in for Bony but, I can't see that coming off. Belhanda would be a great attacking threat and we've been linked recently. Not sure if he's still on Besiktas radar though?

Agree1 Disagree2

I'm still gutted that Fonte has been given the captaincy, as that means he's a guaranteed starter and he's just not good enough. We need two centre backs, a winger and a striker. Forster is a great signing, but Van Dijk would've had a bigger impact. I'm concerned about the Liverpool game, and don't think we'll do as well as last year, but we'll easily stay up and will build under Koeman.

Agree6 Disagree6

Agree with james Craig about fonte, not good enough, but after watching the game yest, we only have 4/5 who are and one is boruc! Yes Forster is a quality signing but was not as critical as another centre back or striker. Clyne and Bertrand are good enough, but two centre backs needed if we are to push on. Davis is very underrated and is good enough, we don't know about spider as of yet but obviously is good enough, wanyama is not a patch on jack cork and this confuses me as koeman is looking to start wanyama, JWP is good enough but I don't know if it's too early for him week in week out, tadic looks good no where near lallana though, saphic looked very good, Isgrove needs more confidence and will shine, gaston same old doses brill for 5 mins then gets lost, pelle doesn't look good enough, very good at holding up but that's it either needs a partner or shouldn't get into the team, but with jrod out there's no replacement. After yesterday's game going forward especially I fear the worst.

Well I have just been watching some of the You Tube stuff on Florin Gardos he looks class attacking football and some great defending if he takes to the premiership he will be potentially better than some of the "exodus players" this is lining up to be an exciting season
If we box off the Hernandez and Roco signings we should be in the mix and still have money in the bank a great start to the season could make for a cheeky January transfer window.

I have put money on saints marching into Europe next season! Law of Attraction all of the ingredients are falling into place for a very talented and exciting squad of players and a solid manager with footballing pedigree I feel we are taking another step up!

when players talk about getting champions league experience with teams I chuckle as often they are in clubs who play awfully in the competition because the league they play in is not upto the Prem.
the only real benefit for those players is the club makes a bit of revenue.

what are our chances of silverware this year?
league cup FA cup all up for the taking by people who have the desire and workethic to succeed

Forster signing has been made official. On saints website. 4 year deal. Great signing and hopefully one of many more to come. Striker please and yes bony would be class!

Believable9 Unbelievable3

If we can replace Lovren and get another striker we will definitely be stronger than last year. I also feel that we'll see a much better gaston this time around. Feels good

Agree2 Disagree3

I can't disagree that we are potentially stronger than last season, however we are really lacking going forward. A winger and striker are needed urgently and a centre back. Then we can hopefully push on

You might not believe me, but I have it on good authority that tonight we have bid from Swansea's Wilfried Bony. What do you guys think about this?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I'd like to think that this is true. I'm not sure that he would want to leave one mid table side for another though. I also think that Liverhampton are still looking at signing him.

Agree5 Disagree2

I would very much like this - Prem experience, proven goal scorer, have options now with him and Pelle and Gallagher coming through. Pleasing. Hope they accept and he comes now. if of course we have defo bid

Agree2 Disagree0

Bony would be a class signing, good season last year and proven in the EPL

Agree3 Disagree0

Great if we could get him but don't see why he would come to us but you never know. Shame that I suspect this confirms there is no chance of signing Hernandez

Agree4 Disagree1

Don't expect this to happen. He will go to a much "bigger" club

Agree2 Disagree2

We already have a target man need some pace!

Eds any news on Rojo?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed005's Note - Another Editor tells me that the situation with Rojo is a little complicated now as the folks who dealt with the Tadic transaction feel that they let the player move too cheaply and are looking to ensure that the same does not happen with Rojo - and this could see a jump in the asking price.}

I had heard that on newsnow along with him apparently being unimpressed with saints

Agree2 Disagree3

One of the parties that owns his contract owns 75% of his future sale value and is now digging in for more dosh apparently

Agree2 Disagree0

Apparently he wants CL football

If we are in the game of loaning players in, why don't we have a look at Joel Campbell of Arsenal.
I think he would be the perfect player to play off Pelle. With Pelle's ability to be the big hold up striker, and Campbell spinning off him. I think that would be a scary partnership.

On Gardos. is he being brought in to be in the first team or is he back up? Honestly haven't seen much of him other than youtube, and that don't look that convincing either!

Arsene Wenger has ruled out letting both Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell leave on loan this season because of good displays in preseason. Could all change though I suppose. Guessing it won't though as they are the only backup to Giroud.

Forster has passed his medical; Florin Gardos is very close to being completed; We are going to put in another bid in for Byram (one of the hottest English prospects outside the premier league) and we are going to put a bid in to try and sign Virgil Van Dijk. Things are looking good now.

If we get them. Have heard rojo deal might be in trouble either because the people who own 75% are after silly money or/and he wasn't impressed by us

Many sites reporting that Rojo has hinted at a move to Manchester United by following Man U, Wayne Rooney, Adnan Januzaj and RVP on Instagram. Does seem now that if we want him we'll need to put in a silly bid

if saints have to put in a silly bid for rojo
i think its time to look elsewhere

While things are looking better, following the game at St Mary's today, we need further options going forward. I've been impressed with Saints preseason, and it is far from doom and gloom at Southampton. My only concern is that we will struggle to get the goals to see off sides.

However, with Gardos and possibly Van Dijk coming in, could it be that we will see a 3-5-2 formation?

Just want to add that I was hugely impressed with Taider when he came on. Could well be the signing of the summer, and if today's performance is anything to go by, we ought to pay that £7m fee as soon as possible to tie him to Saints.

Apparently had a bid rejected for Leeds United youngster Sam Byram. Would be a good replacement for Chambers, very promising young player.

Any news on Jordi Classie?

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Yes, it is rumoured he enjoyed a breakfast of eggs and bacon.

I heard it was a smoke and a pancake.

If he is the same standard as pelle and tadic then forget him.

any more news on the redmond to saints
rumour
notice it has gone quiet again I still think he would
be good for saints
forestsaint

Believable8 Unbelievable1

I know Martinez was interested in him, and he also was quoted saying a couple of days ago that they are in need of a winger. I think we are in talks but I would imagine Everton are favourites at the moment

Agree3 Disagree2

Everton have atsu on loan from chelsea.

Agree5 Disagree4

I've just read that Stoke have offered £5m for Redmond.
I'm just hope that we're making bids but keeping them quiet. would hate to see us miss out on signings while clubs around us keep adding to their squads - Newcastle, West Ham, Stoke, Swans. would be depressing to be scrapping against relegation in the next 4 months
