Today's Ridiculous Rumour of the Day is brought to you by Il Corriere Dello Sport in Italy, who claim Southampton's Adam Lallana is being targeted by Champions League-chasing Fiorentina.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

I'd go, I love Florence. :-)

Agree7 Disagree3

Italian media seem to have it in for us on slow news day. And it's always Fiorentina, that's now Ramirez, Schneiderlin, Osvaldo and now Lallana "linked" with them

Agree4 Disagree1

Lallana will never move from Saints. Local lad and even with two relegations he wouldn't move. He is the new Le Tiss.

As for the others, you never know.

Agree7 Disagree2

Adam has just founbd out that his old mucker Papa Waigo is no longer at the club so the deal is off according to ciaocioadellosportogoalofootballo. it

Agree5 Disagree1

Yeah Florence is a nice palce, I agree with the second poster

Pablo Osvaldo will discover his immediate future within the next few days with his agent travelling to Southampton for talks – Inside Futbol

Believable3 Unbelievable11

Discover is a good/curious word for them to use.

Is he leaving? Surely he's going to stick around until at least the summer? Give it a bit of a crack. I can understand foreigners being homesick, often a reason why British players tend not to move abroad, but six months, nah, work at it Ozzy, and you'll probably come good. (Same goes for Ramirez, who has shown signs of improvement all round in the past month!)

Osvaldo wants to be in the Italy World Cup squad I'd assume. Perhaps he feels he needs to move back to Serie A to increase his chances of getting a call? Still, if he buzzes at Saints in the Premier League, surely he'll be on their plane!

I'd like Osvaldo to stay. Unless we can double our money on any sale (and replace him with an already established ace. )

To avoid any confusion, I WANT Osvaldo to stay at Saints, and think he will.

Etienne.

Pablo happy at Saints-MP today. Think I will digest that info. rather than Inside Futbol.
Perhaps his agent has been called to Southampton to be told "shut the **** up". Or maybe he is simply discussing promotional opportunities with his client, as agents always do, especially those clients who will feature in Brazil. Who knows? Probably NOT Inside Futbol.

Agree2 Disagree2

Surely all players aim to be in their country's squad - especially for World so to say he wants to move to Italy for this purpose is a weak comment. But I suppose it gives some people something to ramble on about!

Agree0 Disagree1

Well he has done amazing since he's been here, been a great success!

Agree3 Disagree1

Maybe his agent is negotiating a pay rise, his client has been so good I'd personally give him my latest Tesco voucher

Can't even spell football right. Futbol HA! Jog on kitty :)

From what I hear Southampton will do business this window if possible.

Pochettino has spoken with Cortese about making transfer funds available for a CB due to squad weakness being exposed in the December period. He also is looking at signing a young forward at the right price, however this is non-urgent so will most likely be left to summer.

Names doing the rounds are:

Astori (Cagliari) - deal seems dead, just regurgitated from summer. Approx £10m

Kouyate (Anderlecht)- wants to move to Prem. Could happen, but bigger clubs sniffing around. Approx £8m

Micah Richards (Man City) - Rumoured he wants first XI football for a shot at WC squad. Could start CB for Saints and cover RB. Unlikely due to wages. Approx £6m

Marcos Rojo (Sporting CP) - Portuguese club happy to sell for right price. Wants to play in a bigger league. Argentine like Poch. Can cover LB. Young. Seems ideal. Approx £8m

Personally I'd take Rojo because it sures up cover for LB too. Also young and has buckets of talent. Be happy with any though. Thoughts?

Micah Richards please! But sadly I don't think so.

Agree12 Disagree1

Nice work LondonSaint.

I would love to have Micah Richards at Southampton. even if only on a short term loan. He is a top player. The main reason I want him, isn't for my own club to have an even better player, but so that England pick him for their squad. He is much, much, much better than ALL the other England candidates for the right back slot (Although pretty soon Nathaniel Clyne will step into that, and I've been thinking that since his Palace days. )

However, IF we signed Richards, I'd (now this makes my comment above sound a bit mental) play him at centre back. Sorted.

I don't know enough about King Rojo (that nickname's going to catch on, I'm telling you!) but I do like what I've heard and the few clips I've watched. Fits the criteria etc.

I'm actually, for once, pretty damn excited about this January transfer window. As a football fan, not just a Southampton supporter.

But for one, I'm against this window malarky. Bring back the old system, where you can buy a player any time of the season, with just that close-off point of the last Thursday in March. Better days, and saves all the rush. Probably keeps managers in a job a lot longer too.

Just hope more than owt else, that we keep our better players.

My preference of these options would have to be Kouyate, very pacey for a centre back and I think would be ideal to work with Lovren or Fonte as he, as well as being another big lad to deal with ariel threat, has the pace to track back towards the longer balls which have proven problematic on occasion. Also at 24 he could have a long and very successful career ahead of him.

Agree5 Disagree1

Micah Richards really?

Agree2 Disagree3

Micah all the way!

Agree4 Disagree2

Wouldn't really say he's an improvement on what we have, get Umtiti, he knows Lovren inside out and vice versa, not only that but he's young and is world class on his day

Agree4 Disagree1

Umtiti, he's a real player yes? Forgive my ignorance but is he willing to change his name because I couldn't stop laughing when I read it

Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate is likely to be moving to the Premier League in January, and his representative has said that he's talked to Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton and Man City.

Would be a great signing for us I think. Any thoughts?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Don't know much about him other than rave reviews but guessing he's solid as top clubs after him. He's the sort of player we should be pushing for if Europe beckons in years to come. Fonte would be good back up to Kouyate/Lovren partnership but would feel for Fonte if he got dropped.

Agree4 Disagree2

Shorely liverpool wouldn't buy kiyokate he should go saints

Agree1 Disagree1

"Cheeky" Kouyate would be a cracking signing for Saints. In the same way Clyne and Ramirez were. We beat other, much bigger clubs to their signatures.

How I laughed when a friend, who is a Man United fan, said "You can have Clyne for a couple of years, until he's ready to join Man U". I'm laughing even more now, why would he join a club headed for The Championship? Waaaheeey ;)

It shows how far we've come (who to credit for this? the owners, Cortese, the manager/s, all of them I'd say) in such a short space of time.
Hopefully our bubble doesn't burst.

I got called a "glory hunter" earlier in the season. Strange feeling!

Etienne.

Agree4 Disagree1

I think he would be a superb signing for us, don't get the Liverpool link they are probably the club in the league who would need a player like Kouyate the least. They have a pretty solid back line as it is with plenty of centre back options. I can believe we'd be competing with Arsenal and City for him though.

Agree0 Disagree1

Saints have been linked with him for some while now, and I believe that Newcastle also were supposed to be interested. It always is the case that if a little interest is there agents (and selling clubs) exaggerate the amount of interest to try and increase price and fees so I expect we will see that half the Premiership is chasing him! (Remember the Victor saga?)
