I think Rowe, Sinclair, Chambers and Isgrove look ready for a crack in the first team!

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Sinclair and Rowe need more time to mature. They have the ability but they need more time to develop their mental skills and vision. Chambers has proven himself to be dependable though as has Isgrove.

Agree9 Disagree1

Not yet.

Agree3 Disagree1

Well I think we should at least give them a go and see, if we can keep hold of these great young players we will have an unbeleivable team in the future!

A bit of news from the sholing game tonight, Cortese confirmed that the Wanyama deal is imminent and we won 4-1! With Sinclair and Isgrove standing out. Cortese and MP were on their phones a lot this evening as well.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Had a chat with him, disagree all you want, Thursday is the day. - OP

Agree5 Disagree4

According to the Celtic news page, we are apparently signing him tomorrow.

Will believe it when I see it but this would be excellent news. Would be great if this was the first of three.

Agree5 Disagree1

Yeah all the Buisness side will be done wednesday. Then it'll be announced Thursday morning with another pre-season uncovered Thursday evening. -OP

Daily mail says wendesday

If the daily mail said water was wet I'd demand a recount.

hearing deal done for wanyamma with a 20% sell on clause

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I've heard the issue hasn't been the deal with Celtic which was agreed at £12million with Celtic (some in instalments and a sell on clause of 10% was what I heard). I thought the problem was the player negotiations which have gone fine this time with a much lower agreed agent fee and a contract buy out clause in excess of £20million.

Agree0 Disagree1

Hooper s on his way to saints as well. He did not play tonight. Billy sharp is going to Celtic.

Agree2 Disagree10

Where did you hear that from then?

Agree1 Disagree0

I could've sworn Hooper did play. Plus other teams are known to be courting him who don't have better options already.

Agree0 Disagree2

Hooper never played yesterday as he had a slight knock.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hooper did not play for Celtic. Not sure why we would want him though. He'd be good for a mid-table side, but surely seeing as we are aiming for Europe we should be looking at someone with more class.

Agree0 Disagree3

Actually, just to add to my previous post, the reason he didn't play is that he's injured. He's got a groin strain according to Neil Lennon (meaning that even if we did want him, he wouldn't pass a medical for the time being).

Wanyama did not play for Celtic tonight and Lennon had previously said that he would unless a deal look likely. I also see odds on him signing for saints have been lashed to 1/6. Fingers crossed boys we might have finally clinched the deal :-)

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Or he could be headed elsewhere. Basically don't get ahead of yourself. Nothing official yet.

Agree4 Disagree3

Wanyama was replaced by Kayal so there may be some truth that he is on his way to Stapleford tonight for a medical. Either way Wanyama not playing tonight suggests Celtic do not want to risk any injury and that he is most probably on his way to Saints. This would be seen as a statement of intent to the likes of Damio - the Saints are very much on the up.

Agree5 Disagree2

There 1/2 mate get it right:)

Agree0 Disagree3

Sorry, I don't mean to sound snooty or anything like that. Just thought I'd point out it's not Stapleford, it is Staplewood. Understandable mistake to make.

Agree1 Disagree0

A lot of suits were walking into st marys this afternoon when I drove by. maybe nothing or maybe something

Agree1 Disagree1

There 1/6 mate .

Agree3 Disagree0

Lennon did indeed say that he would play unless a deal was done. MP was at the under 21's game tonight so we may get more news tomorrow if Wanyama has to fly back from Germany as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

They're 1/6 mate I am right, at least on Rupert's site they are :-)

Agree2 Disagree0

SFC offer conference and business facilities at St Marys during the week so there are often many suits in and out.

Agree0 Disagree1

Don't forget that SMS is S'ton's leading corporate entertainment facility so seeing a lot of 'suits' entering is probably to be expected

Agree2 Disagree0

That would be candidates for the Chartered Insurance Institute exams going to sit their papers. Talk about 1 + 1 = 3!

News Now (football)
Reports that Saints are in pole position to sign Frederik Sorensen from Bologna. He is 21 and plays in the centre of defence

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Dont need him got class cbs already dotn need another one we need wanyama/banega and damaio done that's were we need and who we need simple after them then ye shore someone else but not another cb I rate jos and yoshida fonte looks like he's going to watford but lovren, forren, yoshida, hoovield, stephens don't need anymore

Agree4 Disagree7

Love it to be true but u doubt it as we already signed lovers and doubt we will spend 7 plus mil on a player we don't need

Agree3 Disagree2

As he said. Our defence is looking quite good.
What let us down towards the end of last season was lack of options up front and a lack of a killer edge.

We need to sign for positions that are going to help us score more goals now.

Agree2 Disagree3

This lad is a different class and can play LB. Jose (great pro) but European quality? Hooiveld surely on his way. We've got a few in the position but this would be a great signing

Jannersaint

Agree4 Disagree2

Good talent. Plays RB as well.

Agree3 Disagree0

This rumour has been around for about 12 months. Do we have a quality CB who is that sort of age? No, we don't. Could be one brought in to develop for the future.

Saint Martin

Agree2 Disagree2

Jack Stephens is actually quite highly rated himself. Although I think this guy would be an amazing signing as he could also cover Clyne for the right back role as well as being a further top Centre Back option.

Agree3 Disagree0

Would rather spend the money on Micah Richards and have him as a starting centre back. He could then be used as cover for clyne in RB. Forren as cover (who I still think the gaffer doesn't rate or he would have started late in the season. All this agreed holiday stuff to me smells of Bulls**t) plus Yosh as cover. Whatever the outcome I still think we need a new quality CB.

Agree0 Disagree1

Think I was right about Forren then!

Can anyone else confirm that we have a press conference today?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

No there is no press conference today

Agree3 Disagree0

No press conference planned for today.

Agree3 Disagree0

I'm afraid I can't.

Lenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing on the OS to suggest there has been one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't think so. Someone out on the other site there was one.

False alarm. Sorry folks

Agree2 Disagree1

The only press conference that may or may not concern us is neil lennons

Looks As though wanyama has burned his bridges with Celtic he has apparently told them if he doesn't get a move he wants at least twice the mo dry he is on to stay there and at for the cause, looks like saints might have a mersonary after all

Believable6 Unbelievable4

What's Paul Merton got to do with it?

Agree4 Disagree2

Didn't Gastón say in an interview around when we signed him that, "they [Southampton] are going to pay me a lot of money" - Gastón now loves the fans and wants to play for the club. There's no reason why Wanyama wouldn't be the same.

The mercenary issue is always going to be an issue with a club like Southampton that is willing to pay players a considerable amount of money in order to attract them to the club. By doing this, we will always attract 'mercenaries', but I strongly believe that they will fall in love with our football club.

Agree7 Disagree2

Saints have in recent times worked hard to ensure that the players they sign have the right attitude. I can see potential problems ahead with trying to sign better quality players, but I have always been proud of the attitude shown by the players that we have produced. Walcott, Bale and Chaimberline all seem to be fairly humble, well rounded people, and the same can be said of our more recent developed players like JWP and Luke Shaw.

These guys are a huge credit to the work that Saints academy does, and let's hope that any high profile players that we do eventually sign will be of a similar mold.

With regards to Wanyama, he seems fairly humble, and I'm sure that if he comes in he'll have the right attitude. let's hope that we can come to a sensible arrangement with his agent.

Agree7 Disagree1

Mercenary?
He's on £8,000 a week at Celtic.
You say he's demanding twice his current wage. £16,000.
With luke shaw signing a five year deal on Friday, believed to be in the region of £25k p/w. I'm sure we'd offer Wanyama at least that?
I personally think he's holding out for a so called "bigger club".
On a different note, any truth in the, Valencia accepting a bid for Banega? Much more important signing. It isn't DM that we lacked in last season, it was AM. No consistent creator in the team.

Would still like to see us put a late bid in for Tom Ince. Think he would fit our needs well.

Looking like our transfers are going to drag on and on when we need them bedding in during pre-season.

Believable10 Unbelievable6

I think we're going for a different class of players this season which I think is why they're dragging on. We are not known and have to make a statement of our intentions to get noticed by the big boys, eg a very big signing.

Agree3 Disagree2

Agree with both posts, but think young Tom Ince could be great for us, worry a bit that we'll not end up with any of the higher profile players if that's the way to put it, surely there must be players who do want to join us because we are Southampton, and not just because every other move for them has fallen down.

Agree3 Disagree1

I agree with above post. Although I think that maybe wanyama and damiao won't go through now. I am still hoping for ever banega to come to us. (Fingers Crossed) Tom ince can play muptiple attacking positions. which means he would be perfect cover. Keep in mind that he is only 21 and is already (Arguably) the best in the championship.

Agree2 Disagree1

Saw tom ince play twice last season. poor player for prem

Agree1 Disagree2

It will be interesting to see whether Wanyama plays for Celtic tonight. We've gone back in for him, and according to Lennon, he will only play if he isn't in talks with anyone. Deal could be agreed this week.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yea I think he is forging a career on the back of his dads great career, don't get me wrong but I don't think he is going to be anything really special, if he was why would liverpool let him go and none of the big clubs gone for him, I think that if we buy a young player they will have to be tip top to be any better than any players we are producing

I'm pretty Sure I saw N****wo Kanu in town today. Looks like a sure thing to me. Thoughts?

Believable1 Unbelievable11

He was out shopping.

Agree7 Disagree0

That might have something to do with the fact that he still lives in the area. stop spreading unfounded rumours

He got lost when going to Krap Nottarf.

Southamptons new signing Dejan Lovren, has told the club to look into signing Lyon youngster Yassine Benzia

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Oh, I assume you were sat in on this meeting? Or you're just privy to Lovrens conversations.

Agree8 Disagree3

Don't think this would be a time where he can start dictating who to buy haha. He has only just arrived.

Agree5 Disagree0

Looks the sort of player we might sighn for the under 21s but i'd be very surprised if we sighned a striker with no senior goals for the first team, its not a very appealing record for a striker

st stuie

Agree2 Disagree0

He only started training yesterday? Don't think he will be recommending signings already

Agree3 Disagree0

If that's the class of striker we're now rumoured to be going for we'd do better in keeping Billy.

Agree1 Disagree2

Benzia is extremely highly rated within Lyon and France, so signing him would be a great piece of business in my opinion. This season should see him break out and become a key player in the Lyon tea.

Agree1 Disagree0

I do like billy and he is not a bad player, but He has never looked quite fit next to everyone else on the team. So fitfulness is problem. If he got fit I might be thinking the same. Although we should get benzia because he has high potential to be a great player. Altough I wouldn't mind Tom Ince instead.

Agree2 Disagree0

Someone has been playing a tad too much FIFA 13

Agree3 Disagree1

Ince looks more likely to go to Cardiff, they have shown the most interest and are actually in talks with now. Could be great for Southampton but to me it doesn't seem likely.
