Real blow, ramirez out for up to six weeks! Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery because I thought we missed that extra bit of creativity in midfield against fulham

We didn't really lack much at all against Fulham, that was a quality performance. All we needed was just that element of luck. We had bad luck throughout with Hooiveld's poor decisions (although that's not luck but if it hadn't been for the unlucky injury of Richardson that'd never have happened).
As for the 2-0 lead Puncheon earned us which was disallowed for such a soft decision that was also a lack of luck.
The fact of the matter is Southampton created chances and really, with it all working out, they could've lead by 3 or even 4 going into half time.
I don't think you can criticise the midfield too much. It was an all round brilliant performance we were just unfortunate...

Im sorry, I was at the game no way in hell was that an all round brilliant performance! Apart from a few slick moves we offered very little going forward apart from set pieces and as always looked flakey at the back especially with Yoshida having an absolute stinker at right back. Desperately needed Ramirez!

Without Ramirez we should have been 4-0 up by half time. The second half was poor defending but we could, and should, have scored another goal or two in the second half.
So, where would we have played Ramirez? CB?
Don't get me wrong, he looks a tremendous player but we have shown already this season we can compete strongly going forward with or without him. Defense is our problem and not all of that is down to our back 5. Just look at the problems we have had with wing backs. The team has to start defending as a team and that involves all 14 players for a full 95 minutes (or against Man.U probably 100 minutes.)

I think Fulham were very poor, that's what made us look better than we actually were. 1st half was pretty good and the early goal was a big boost. The 2nd half was shocking - never really got at them and conceded 2 pathetic goals again.

I am so tired of hearing this constant 'I think so and so who were facing the saints were very poor'. I mean couldn't it be possible we're making them look poor? I mean come on you are not going to get Man United, Man City and Fulham all suddenly deciding to be poor just to face Southampton...

They may have been poor but still scored two in a game we should have won

Can Anyone tell me why arthur boruc is not playing? Is it because he is not fit enough yet? Or because of Gazzniga's form??
Believable5
Unbelievable0
Believe hes still waiting for international clearence. boruc did play against man utd under 21's last night in a 3-3 draw
Agree3

To be fair I think Gazzaniga is so much better than Boruc. He has been on superb form. Seriously though you want to put in Boruc when he concedes 3 goals in an under 21s game. I think Gazza is better.

Haha yeh really an ex Gillingham keeper is "so much better" than a keeper who has played in the Champions league and has a vast amount of experience at International level.
Agree0
Disagree7
Don't grill him for being an ex Gillingham player, he impressed so much when he was there that he attracted interest from all sorts of different clubs. We are lucky he chose Southampton. He's a young and very good keeper who's only getting better as time progresses, Boruc has passed his prime and won't improve. I really can't see why you are so down on Gazzaniga he's a very impressive young lad.

How could of Boruc played for the under 21's, when hes 32!?

Heard a rumour from a very famous ex player that Adkins hand is forced to play Guly - believed to be contractual.
Believable5
Unbelievable6
I really hope this is not true and I also both doubt it and am a tad fearful of the idea. It is ridiculous to say the least for a player to have such a clause in a contract.
I mean I really can't imagine anyone being silly enough to offer a contract on that basis and if ANY player demanded it they should be rejected instantly...
Agree2
Disagree1
He was thought to be a great buy when we were league 1... hence why we may have done that to persuade him.
Agree0

No ex player knows what is in a players contract. Cortese certainly would not let that be known and neither would Adkins

.....hence 'believed'. Everyone is aksing the same questions, 'why is that useless muppet always getting picked'.

I like it when people speak for the rest of us! "Everyone" is asking your question, are they?
Don't think so. Perhaps Guly has not performed as we would like but at the same time have we seen him in training? NA obviously has an idea of what he is after and knows the strengths of individuals. So far this season (7 games) I have noted at least half the team have been slagged off by some all knowing "fans", with many of them being praised the following week.
Just try to be a little more positive and give these players your support. Looking at this site Saints supporters look like a bunch of whingers, not to mention (within the last week) that "the club must be in financial difficulties because of a) a loan, b) changes to programme selling c) pause in building at Staplewood. NA is for the chop and we are doomed because Ramirez is injured".
Have a look at some other clubs sites, nothing like the negativity I see on our own and yet Saints are, in my mind, the most positive successful club in the UK in terms of development in the last few years.
What do you really expect, that we are already battering the Man.Us, Citys and Arsenals? This was a 5 year plan and that point is still around 2 years away.
If the supporters can not show the players and management some respect then perhaps they need to look for another club. And remember, that option is available to the people that are receiving this criticism.
Apologies for the rant, but the glass really is (at least) half full, you know.
