Southampton set to sign Paulo osvaldo for a fee around £15 million tomorrow late afternoon/tea time after completing a medical today at staplewood

1.) 15 Aug 2013
I can't believe this, he clearly doesn't want to join us so it's ridiculous paying so much for someone who could easily unsettle the squad.

2.) 15 Aug 2013
Aren't medicals done at Solent university!

Jannersaint

3.) 15 Aug 2013
No, fitness tests are, but medicals generally done at staplewood.

4.) 15 Aug 2013
How do you know he doesn't want to join us? For all you know we haven't even put a bid in yet

5.) 16 Aug 2013
Hooray! It's the weekly Friday signing rubbish rumour!

6.) 16 Aug 2013
Doesn't want to come here? How do you know, you don't believe the media do you?

7.) 16 Aug 2013
This might actually be true, sky italia are reporting that's saints have given a friday deadline to osvaldo to decide.

8.) 16 Aug 2013
Seems like spurs will beat us to his signature : (

9.) 16 Aug 2013
Looks like we are going to lose osvaldo to spurs : (

10.) 16 Aug 2013
After all the umming and ahhing by Osvaldo, I'm not sure I want him anymore. It's a lot of money and we could get 2 good players for that. What about Fingbogasson and the Ajax defender? I'm sure we can bid mor than Celtic and there champions league isn't going to last long so not much of an insentive there.

11.) 16 Aug 2013
Multiple sources are reporting that both Southampton and Tottenham are close to signing Osvaldo. Hard to know who's right.

12.) 16 Aug 2013
I believed OP until you said 'about tea time'.

haha brilliant.

13.) 16 Aug 2013
If Spurs meet Roma's asking price, it is obvious that he'll go there. Moving on. Let's try and sign someone we actually have a chance to get and wants to be here, there isn't much time left.

14.) 16 Aug 2013
My reading of the situation is: Roma have accepted a bid from Southampton, actual amount is unknown, figures given in press speculative. This bid is the best for Roma, so obviously they want Osvaldo to accept it too.

Osvaldo hasn't said that he doesn't want to join Southampton, he has stated that he wants to stay in Italy.

I'm on the fence whether we should sign him, considering the fee and his wages. Plus will he adapt? I'm more in favour of a lower league Englishman, who will grow, like Jayrod or a Scandinavian who always adapt better, at a fraction of the cost. I think we will be scoring more goals this season, Rickie will equal last seasons tally and Jayrod will start where he finished last season. Mayuka and Isgrove could step up to the plate as well.

15.) 16 Aug 2013
Spurs don't want him. They are trying to sign Pjanjc and Lamela if Bale leaves.
Which won't be confirmed for some time

16.) 16 Aug 2013
Pochettino might make the difference.

17.) 16 Aug 2013
Rubbish he's using us to get an offer from Spurs

18.) 16 Aug 2013
I actually don't think the Spurs interest is real. Think about it - if Spurs wanted to spend 15 million or thereabouts, they would probably need to sell Bale first, given how much they've spent this summer. If they sell Bale, who are they going to look to sign - a striker or a winger?! Spurs were linked with Lamela, and I think it is far more likely that this is who they're after.

19.) 16 Aug 2013
I'd be surprised if they went for him. They have soldano. Would someone like Osvaldo really want to be a rotation player?
Still don't think he'll come to us.
Times running out for us to get anyone and if we do, they are going to take time to bed in.

Posted this morning at 9. 30am (I am not agreeing/disagreeing with this, Just thought it made sort of sense).

Southampton have offered to make Pablo Osvaldo the highest paid player in their history in a bid to entice him from Roma, Goal understands.

The Premier League club have been pursuing the Italy international all summer as they attempt to bolster their attacking options.

Goal understands that Southampton have offered Osvaldo a club-record €70,000-a-week deal in a bid to beat off competition for the player’s signature from Benfica, Wolfsburg and Tottenham.

The Saints are hopeful their improved offer will be enough to convince the striker, who snubbed interest in the club earlier this summer as he held out for a move to a higher profile outfit.

The deal also depends upon Spurs’ twin pursuit of Osvaldo’s Roma team-mates Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic, with the Italian club unwilling to sanction the sales of all three players.

Goal revealed earlier this week that Tottenham had opened talks with Roma to sign €35m-rated Lamela, with the Giallorossi’s sporting director Walter Sabatini meeting his opposite number Franco Baldini in London on Thursday.

Southampton have indicated to Roma they are willing to pay a club-record fee of €20m including add-ons for the Argentina-born forward, who was signed from Espanyol in 2011 in a deal worth up to €17m.

The Serie A club are willing to off-load the 27-year-old this summer in an attempt to provide funds for new manager Rudi Garcia to re-shape his squad.

Tottenham met with Osvaldo’s representatives earlier this year but it is understood that Baldini, the former Roma general manager, who took up a new role as Spurs’ technical director in June, has doubts about the controversial forward's attitude.

These people that say Osvaldo says he doesn't want to join us. Go find a quote. Bet you can't. You'll find media stirring, and an "agent" comment, but NOTHING from Osvaldo. Just be patient and what will happen will happen, just stop claiming "facts" from every news story you read. Seriously is amazing how much you all take as fact from articles with no quote or first hand source.

Not my words, Just relaying this on. (dont think I'm allowed to print source?). posted at 9. 30am this morning.

Osvaldo will sign for spurs. Its done.

24.) 16 Aug 2013
Sorry for the double post! :)

25.) 16 Aug 2013
Not saying he won't sign for Spurs but it's not done.

Lenny

26.) 16 Aug 2013
He's been called up for a roma game tomo, so def won't happen tonight x

27.) 16 Aug 2013
After listening to several reports on the radio today, the players agent has said he would prefer a move to a london side if he comes to England! My personal opinion is he will go for more wages to Spurs! I want him to sign for Saints as much as anyone but is the sort of attitude our camp requires right now?

28.) 16 Aug 2013
Did I see something earlier saying Lamela has signed for Inter?

29.) 16 Aug 2013
Can Spurs play two up front in their system? ( I really don't know) He has important season coming up with gaining a World Cup place, Has more chance (Really sorry to say, don't mean to upset too many) displacing Lambert as first choice than Roberto Soldado, What I've read about him, He seems to be a bit of a thinker!

30.) 16 Aug 2013
Don't really want him to come and upset the applecart. He seems a bit of a bell end imo.

31.) 16 Aug 2013
Got a feeling that Spurs don't really want Osvaldo and Inter won't want him either. Question is the agent may or may not be trying to hike up the value? Think Cortese is too clever for this and the player will be left with a take it or leave it offer from us. I think he will take it as it seems Roma want him out.

32.) 17 Aug 2013
Didnt you see anything from the england game lambert had 3 opportunitys to score in 1/2 the time as it took rooney to have one its the midfield i'd improve if he gets good service he'll score loads more, imo.

33.) 18 Aug 2013
No one doubts Rickie's class but we can't rely on him playing every minute of every match to the same intensity he did in his England debut. Another class striker isn't just a good bet, it's vital to our season.
