Whats everyones opinions on Wanyamas impact on EPL since his transfer from Celtic.
Ive watched your team a lot this year and I feel you remind me of Martin Oneils Celtic team from 2000-2004.
Strong team with a lot of talented quick players.

He's a championship player for me. All this talk about how good he'll be when he learns the speed of the premiership and can pass better is nonsense. He's big, huge. That's it for me. Just because the team is doing well masks the fact that he's severely limited as a footballer IMO

2.) 27 Oct 2013
Bring back Jack Cork!

3.) 27 Oct 2013
No he is a very good player and all of the opposition are scared of him, also I think that he is an all round player as he threats attacking and defensively. I think that he has a bright future at southampton

4.) 28 Oct 2013
I agree the opposition is scared of him, he's massive. Trouble is saints players are scared of him passing straight to the opposition!

5.) 28 Oct 2013
Jack Cork spent 2-3 years being farmed out on loan to championship teams by Chelsea. Hehas been as important to Saints as anyone over the last 2 seasons. If a decent Premiership team come in for him, who could blame him for wanting to go. Better than Wanyama and Morgan.

{Ed002's Note - Five years gaining experience on loan including a spell with Southampton.}

6.) 28 Oct 2013
It's fair to say that Wanyama has had some games better than others. His passing is often wayward, which leads to some fans getting frustrated with him. Not only that, but Jack Cork (who was one of our best players last year) has been forced to make way for Victor. For me, Victor has added physicality to the team. There were a handful of games last year against teams such as West Brom where our team was bullied. That doesn't happen any more.

Against Fulham on Saturday Victor was immense, and he only had one stray pass. There are signs he'll be a huge player for Saints. As for Jack Cork, like many Saints fans, I fear he may well look to leave. He is far too good to be sat on the bench week in and week out.

I think it takes Saints fans a long time to accept new players, and take them to their hearts, but I've no doubt that we'll grow to love Victor.

7.) 28 Oct 2013
We've played West Brom, Sunderland, Norwich, West Ham, Liverpool, Palace, Swansea, Man Utd and Fulham. Liverpool were caught off guard, Man Utd are struggling under Moyes and the rest are just poor teams. We'll know more about "Big Vic" when we have played Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs and Everton. Stoke this weekend aren't a real test and "Big Vic" will be perfect for that game. They can't score and they are still a bunch of cloggers!

8.) 28 Oct 2013
In Big Vic's first 5 games or so he did give the ball a way a bit - he's getting better every game in this respect. I don't think he gave the ball away at all on Sat against Fulham and he's finding his shooting boots too. First 9 games last season we let in 26 goals - this season - 3. That's down to Boruc & Lovren but also down to Big Vic. I do feel sorry for Jack Cork as last season he was probably only behind Morgan as Saints player of the season - hopefully we will keep hold of him in Jan as we now need to build a squad not just a first 11.

9.) 28 Oct 2013
Can't believe someone has said that Jack Cork is better than Morgan. What a load of BS. He's good but I trust Poch's judgement over yours, clearly he prefers Wanyama. Morgan Scheidnerlin is probably our best player

10.) 28 Oct 2013
He played well yesterday, and don't worry there will be injuries, and cork will be able to fill in then, also when matches pile up a lot of positions can be rotated, making places more competitive too

11.) 28 Oct 2013
Like the comment about the first 5 games. West Brom (nicked it 0-1), Sunderland (drew 1-1 against no hopers), Norwich (lost 1-0 against no hopers), Liverpool (won 0-1 against much fancied team), West Ham (drew 0-0 against spoilers), Palace (beat the worst team in the league 2-0 at home). Great for confidence playing the worst teams first as opposed to last years very difficult start. November and december is when the real test begins.

12.) 28 Oct 2013
Cant believe someone thinks Cork is a better player than Morgan! It's a matter of opinion. I am not making any criticism of Mopo's choice of starting midfield. Only my belief that Cork is a better player than Morgan 2 people agree with me and 3 disagree. No need to throw your toys out of the pram when someone has a different opinion to yourself!

13.) 28 Oct 2013
I watch Saints every home game and a lot of away games. When u refer to a player being a certain teams best player, said player should dominate games. Morgan doesn't do that enough.

14.) 28 Oct 2013
Wanyama has been very important to saints so far. He is defensive minded, and a lot of his work goes un noticed. Providing effective cover and strong on the ball. Ok his passes have been poor, but is much better when keeping them simple. He might be huge, but remember he's still young and learning like a lot of our players. We have made our best defensive start this season, and I think you have to give big Vic some credit as well
Saint smiff

15.) 28 Oct 2013
You lot make me laugh, someone asks what do we think of Wanyama and world war three breaks out. Bottom line is we've done brilliant so far all be it against the weaker teams and the jury's out over a £15m signing, forget his age, at that price and with champions league experience we should have bought an improvement, not someone learning his trade. Get real saints fans

16.) 28 Oct 2013
Very little gets passed victor and he breaks down the attacking play of the opposition and yes sometimes his passing could be better but he's young and has lots of potential. i'd start him every time as does mopo. Our league position and defensive record would suggest the manager is getting it right.

17.) 28 Oct 2013
£15m, learning his trade against weaker teams? Doesn't add up IMO

18.) 28 Oct 2013
Wanyama didn't cost £15M.

by the same token, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin wasn't worth £15M because he isn't the finished article?

Wanyama cost £12M, and according to Paul Merson looked like he was worth £20M. What are you complaining about? Sounds like a sensible bit of business to me, let alone what he has added to the Saints side. We don't get bullied in CM anymore.

19.) 28 Oct 2013
Poch probably finds it hard to change around a wining team hopefully we don't lose jack and he gets his chance again. He fits into saints so well also he can play in different positions would be a big shame to lose him.

20.) 29 Oct 2013
Wanyama adds energy to the midfield. Also he keeps everything tight in the midfield, protect the defence. And is one of the reason why we have conceded 3 goals

21.) 29 Oct 2013
I honestly do not know how we can put any player in the saints squad down at the moment. Have you taken a minute to look where we are? Defensively we have conceded 3 goals, no matter the opposition that is a crazy record (man city conceded 3 in one game against 'no hopers') Wanyama is part of a defensive strategy that is working give him credit! Whilst it is working why is MP going to change it? He has played around with the attacking midfield a little because we weren't scoring and look what had happened. We've started putting the ball in the back of the net!

End of the day MP knows more about his squad than all of you, he knows more about the system he wants to play, more about the players that fit that system! Right now whatever he is doing in training etc works! at best you see clips of on saints player, not the whole session. Who knows Wanyama may dominate Cork in training hence his selection, end of the day your not a coach you don't see it so you don't know!

Stop moaning about our side whilst we are winning and learn to trust those that know a lot more than you!

22.) 29 Oct 2013
The contributor above who starts 'I honestly do not know. ' is bang on. Can't believe the whinging going on here. Poch has more knowledge and experience of the game and our players than the lot of you put together. Come on you whining nellies, put you names where your mouths are. Oh and since when has every team outside the top 6 including West Brom and Swansea become a poor side? You also forget that we've already beaten Chelsea and City this year and Liverpool TWICE.

23.) 29 Oct 2013
Here here! Well said that man!

24.) 29 Oct 2013
Original post asked for an opinion on Wanyama and everyone has a right to an opinion. Saints have done great against the teams they have played so far, most of which are struggling in the league. Jury's out on Wanyama for me as he's not really been challenged yet and he does lack concentration, his movement is slow and his passing is wayward but that's only my opinion. November and December will give us all a better view on his true abilities

25.) 30 Oct 2013
As for his price, I'm not sure you can buy a finished article, top four premier league player for £12.5m. If he continues to improve and influences a team near the top in 4 years he would be worth double that.
I'm in total agreement that mopo knows better than us his team selection, and for his own job security wouldn't drop players for no reason. I think it's how well they do tactically, hence the guly comeback. He works hard and keeps things simple

26.) 30 Oct 2013
I don't care how often he gave the ball away in his first few games, he's stopped doing it now and he's an absolute brute. He bullies the opposition and does an incredible amount of hard yards and unnoticed defensive work. Between him and Lovren, they've brought the defensive standard of our team up considerably. I'd say Lovren has already repaid his pricetag through his influence on Jose and the younger lads, and Wanyama will do the same in time through his presence, and once he finds his shooting boots, the odd goal. We're talking about a guy who equalled if not bossed the Barca midfield on more than one occasion and he's not an improvement? As much as I love Jack he hasn't got the same presence and does a different job. He too will also get his chance, people need to chill and ENJOY WHAT WE ARE DOING. Can't believe there are any complaints considering our defensive record and league position, just embrace these moments!

Other than the fact that ol' Guly stills gets minutes, but we let him do his own thing bless him.

27.) 30 Oct 2013
In the post above - "He's big, huge. That's it for me. Just because the team is doing well masks the fact that he's severely limited as a footballer IMO"

Reality check he is 76Kg!!!

That's less than Lambert!!!

An yes they are the same height!!

28.) 30 Oct 2013
You weighed him LOL!

29.) 30 Oct 2013
All players weight and height are on the official website.

30.) 31 Oct 2013
Is their favourite pre match meal also listed?

31.) 31 Oct 2013
Re the above post & Guly. I love the chant everytime he comes on, 'if Guly scores, we're on the pitch'.

32.) 01 Nov 2013
Who's the heaviest, and who has the lardiest body mass fat index of the current first team squad? Just interested that's all

33.) 01 Nov 2013
Why didn't Chelsea, City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Milan etc show an interest in Wanyama? He did seem to be waiting for a better offer this summer before agreeing to join Saints. He's the right age so why was there no bidding war for his services?
