Sorry to burst your bubble but Wolfsburg have been quick to quash rumors about Bas Dost and to say he isn't leaving
Also he only has 14 goals in 42 games, and we have 3 strikers who can play in pellé, long and Gallagher. Albeit competition is good I think we would want someone better, maybe benteke when he's got full fitness,
Thoughts?

2.) 23 Aug 2014
We were quick to squash rumours about our players. it doesn't mean jack. I said he was linked. with my posts I state whether its speculation, a wish, imo or if I have information from a reliable source (not dave down the pub) one injury to a striker we are in big trouble. benteke and pelle? don't think so.

good god that was bad, think we need more pace, I thought pelle is out of his depth, still we got a point so onwards and upwards

4.) 23 Aug 2014
Said it before we signed him. 55 goals in the eredivisie counts for nothing. we need another proper striker! and a seriously good attacking midfielder we are missing creativity. defensively we are sound, especially with gardo to come. Fonte was mustard again. people saying ahh we have long pelle and gallagher make me laugh! some strike force! I would be petrified as a cb.

5.) 23 Aug 2014
Bas dost is a proper poacher would have scored 15+ for us last season.

6.) 23 Aug 2014
Not what we need now though

Don't forget Jay Rodriguez!

8.) 23 Aug 2014
In october yes. does pelle look even close to scoring at all?

9.) 23 Aug 2014
RL AL JR v DT GP and who? have we replaced either 2 comfortably? same as liverpool. sell the best, sign 3 average and expect to be ok. where are the goals coming from?

10.) 23 Aug 2014
23 Aug 2014 23:45:36
yep good call on fonte, Bertrand looked good going forward, I just think west brom weren't good for us. if you know what I mean

24 Aug 2014 09:56:01
Did JayRod look even close to scoring when he joined and had his first taste of the EPL?

Anyone can see Saints need to make one or two additions and work on their movement in the final third, but honestly, what did we expect? Let's see how we are doing by end of September and that will give a much clearer picture.

Some fans on here won't be happy until we're banging in 3+ goals a game, how many goals were we scoring at the start of last season? 3 goals in out first 5 games I remember. Just relax and give the team some time

13.) 24 Aug 2014
Some fans seem happy we have taken a step backwards.

14.) 24 Aug 2014
SaintGibbs - very rare but his time I have to disagree with you: new squad consolidation period. not backwards - Tadic makes Lallana look expensive, Bertrand worked well but couldn't, on this occasion, find the final cross, JWP was unlucky, Forster looked funny plucking the ball from everyone, but the three main points -1) Long is currently being played in an unfamiliar inside forward position (until he gets used to it). but he did chase everything down! 2) Pelle - wasn't great. granted. but I urge the fans to re-watch the game - he always had 2 on him but his positional play was excellent (a very good point IMHO as he was trying to bring in play Davis / Tadic who wasn't there. on this occasion), and with 3) Tadic being rotated every 5 mins from L-R & R-L, Steven Davis having a poor game, and once substituted, with Long learning the squad, this ended up confusing us more than the Baggies. On another point; I also noticed the crowd wasn't as loud at it could have been (I hope that was the TV commentary). Defensively, we didn't concede. it will come guys, it will come!

Can't understand how we've taken a step backwards. Only attacking players we lost were Lallana and Lambert. We've replaced two decent players with Long, Pelle and Tadic, and we still have Jay Rodrigues to come back. How you can say we've taken a step backwards when we've played two matches is beyond me. Only 2 weeks in and some of our own fans have already written us off! Get behind Koeman and the boys COYR!!

16.) 25 Aug 2014
Minimal effort and not even remotely attractive football.

In the words of harry Enfield "Calm down calm down"
lets look at this in a controlled manner, we have played 2 games. one game against last seasons runners up & we played them off the field & barring a few bad misses should have beaten them. our second game was against a team who came to St marys to get a draw the smothered our CF with 2 men everytime he got near the ball they were all over him. Tadic again looked good & will turn out to be one of the bargains of the season 7 will in my opinion prove to be an upgrade on AL. Long is a decent ST who will harass defences all day long. Pelle will get goals. Our defence is looking good and dependable. As for relegation, no way not even close. people need to remember that we have only played 2 serious games & 4-5 friendlies. This is going to be a good season mark my words.

18.) 25 Aug 2014
And yeah the attendance wasnt great. 27k for our first home game of the season! Why people think we should expand our stadium is beyond me. we can't even fill our current.

19.) 25 Aug 2014

27k in August when people are still on holiday & againgst WBA is actually quite a good attendance!

And the grass was too green, and the beer was poor! We're doomed!

We really are becoming Whingers Utd.

The club have to rebuild the team. Does anyone think they wanted to do this, and spend all summer negotiating sales and purchases, and replacing the manager? Whining and whinging is not the same as passion. The club need supporting at this time and there are too many who seem to feel an instant solution is available.

21.) 25 Aug 2014
And support they have but you can't expect everyone to be happy with what has happened. not everyone has to think the same as you and you don't need to whinge and whine everytime someone speaks up. i'm sorry but the position we are in now is far from that of the end of the season. there is a reason why all the players and the manager left and its not just because the pay packets are bigger elsewhere. we were the envy of the PL we are now a laughing stock. what we have brought in IS NOT as good as what's left. we have thus far spent half of what came in from transfers, the sky money has been pocketed aswell as our 8th positon prize money. the board HAVE cashed in and are playing a very dangerous game. this is the PL where the bottom team can beat the top team on any day. the west brom result is a blessing in disguise.

22.) 26 Aug 2014
Did you really expect the club to spend a lot more than they have? The players that cost a lot 1) wouldn't come to us and would prefer a move to a bigger side and 2) we can't afford their wages. We've still spent a lot of money, and still got more deals in process, also we have money to pay off debts and seal a good future where we have money. It's not about cashing in, it's about not needing to spend a lot more than we have done. Our team is still good, and once they gel, with Koeman managing, I reckon we will be a top 10 team again. Just have patience and see what happens, you can't judge a season on the first two games, just as you can't judge a new player on there first two games. COYR

I actually think that the board have done some very good business this summer. £25. 000. 000 for Lallana when he is really worth no more than 15 mil. £20. 000. 000 for Lovren a £12 mil profit. £27. 000. 000 for a fat LB, none of these players wanted to be here so why is that the fault of the board? Oh I know it's because they got rid of Cortese, a man who was wantanly spending someone else's money without any regard. he was also making obsured promises to players about being in the CL within 2 years. Now I'm not saying footballers or indeed some of our fans are stupid but really 2 years? Teams that are far bigger than us haven, t managed it. So what have the new board done wrong? In my eyes they have replaced those who have gone with players of an equall or maybe even better standard, give them time. They have bought in a world renowned manager who has managed in some of the biggest leauges in the world who has bought with him a very good backroom staff. They have spent a huge amount of money on players while ensuring the future stability of our great club. To all these "fans" screaming for the board to spend every single penny the have earnt on buying new players I say this, remember Pompey.

24.) 26 Aug 2014
Markus Liebherr wanted us to get to the champions league! does his daughter??

the matter of the fact is the ambition has changed. that is why everyone has left.

we are not even close to spending half of what we netted. in fact we have not even spent a quarter! I don't expect us to spend 200m but what I did expect was better management of the club. over the summer.

yes we got good prices for players and maybe tadic COULD be better than AL but you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT buy a team that is that well gelled and understanding of eachother.

we had 30m debt. the woman is a multi billionaire. she previously stated she has no interest in football. so why is she

now i'm sure she means us no harm but I can assure you she does not have the same dreams as Markus Liebherr did.

making out we are strapped for cash we have one of the lowest debts in the PL!

The ambition of the new owner had NO bearing whatsoever on players leaving. Lallana left due to wanting CL football, he was never going to get that at saints even if Cortese could convince the owner either ML or KL to invest. Best estimates as to how much investment would be required to reach the CL are between 250. 000. 000 to 500. 000. 000. Now for a provincial club like saints who at best can draw 32000 fans every week would mean financial suicide. Even if in a fit of madness the owner decided to fund the CL push then getting the World class players that it would take to come to us would in itself be a minor miracle. last season showed the glass ceiling for saints. This is the reason players left & was not due to the new owners ambition changing. KL still wants to reach the CL but & here is the crux of everything she has been more grounded than Cortese & has realised that it WILL take a long time to achieve the goal. This was something that some players were not willing to work towards so they took the easy route and slagged of the board in order to make their moves seem less like them being spoilt brats & moving on. Look at the very good #WeMarchOn video, this basically says it all.
If there was an option between finishing 8-12 every season & the club running on a good financial basis or being in the CL & full of debt then I know which one I prefer.
