im going to throw a couple of new names into the hat for the managers job.
*theses are not rumors*

what do you think of any of these managers ed?

Leonid slutsky - current manager of CSKA and russia (until end of euros) so Saturday will be a good day to see his team play

André Villas-Boas

Vincenzo Montella - current manager if sampdoria

all young and have a style of play that suits saints.

{Ed002's Note - Slutsky is a very well respected and successful coach. I won't give an opion on AVB but will say that he plans to spend time in Portugal and look for a job their in 2017. Montella has done well so far as a manager and was disappointed not to be offered the Italy job.}

Ed what is your opinion on Victor Pereira the current Fenerbache manager as an option for the SFC job?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know him and have never had any dealings with him but he is doing a very good job in Istanbul. I wouldn't think there would be any chance that Southampton could lure him to the south coast - and why would he move there?}

Er, Ed002 you’ve obviously never been to the pitch and putt at Mansbridge, nor are you aware of the array of street food available on the High Street these days.

Is Vicenzo Montella the former pint-sized striker, was it Inter he played for? Interesting.

Eds, are you aware of any interest from Saints in anyone out there, or conversely any Managers that have expressed an interest. As industry insiders, who would you say are the best young coaches in Europe who could be realistic targets?

Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - There is a big difference between the "best young coaches in Europe" and those who might realistically move to Southampton ig Kpeman were to leave. There are a number of managers with growing or well respected reputations I can think of. One real standout right now is Italian Roberto Stellone and another is German Roger Schmidt. There are also a whole bunch of young coaches and managers with growing reputations - in France, Jocelyn Gourvennec, Willy Sagnol and Olivier Echouafni have growing reputations. Although not so young, Philippe Montanier is gaining a lot of respect. Spain, the stand out attracting attention is Diego Simeone but he won't be moving to Southampton. Murat Yakin is one resting after a spell in Russia. The Netherlands has the likes of De Boer and Phillip Cocu. Elsewhere Laudrup, Petrescu, Hutter and Markus Weinzierl are well thought of. I would also not be surprised if Julen Lopetegui and Leonardo Jardim don't get noticed by some of the very high end clubs in the not too distant future. Paulo Sousa (Fiorentina) is getting great press right now but the pick in Italy is Eusebio Di Francesco (Sassuolo) who looks like he will be getting a very good offer at the end of next season.

In terms of who might be the best pick for Southampton, FRank de Boer is the onnly on of these I expect to be in the running and it would mean stiking a financial deal with Ajax which is perfectly possible. Howe is of interest but I don't know if any approach has been made, nor do I know if he would be interested in the move. Pellegrini must be considered and as a wildcard, and although he is helping out with the England Under 21 side, perhaps Paul Clement might be a consideration.}

Fully appreciate the difference, which is why I asked for realistic targets, not just a list of all the up and coming coaches in Europe!

Are you suggesting that RBD is the only realistic target out there? From what I can see you wouldn’t have had RK as a realistic target had the question been asked 2 years ago? I obviously wear those famous and popular rose tinted spectacles, but I think we’re an extremely attractive proposition for a good up and coming coach looking to make a name for himself, and there are likely more realistic candidates out there. We’ll obviously see, although it does seem that you have a pretty low opinion of our club!

{Ed002's Note - That is not what it says at all. And why would you think I have a low opinion of the club?}
