As much as I hope I'm wrong, does anyone else think Lambert might be left out of the England squad to play Denmark? His forms taken a dip since the Fulham game and given his nearest competitor is Andy Carroll for target man, it wouldn't surprise me if Hodgson opted to test Carroll instead. It wouldn't necessarily damage Rickie's chances either and could even spur him on to earn his place. The same situation could be said for Rodriguez as he shares the wide-left forward role with Welbeck, but I think Hodgson may be more inclined to test out Rodriguez again because he has been far more consistent this season. I think Jack Cork deserves a call-up alongside Shaw, both have had some great performances this season. What does everyone else think?

Rickie ain't going to the World Cup. Lallana might, probably will, but no other Saints players will, and that includes Shaw. Too early for Luke

2.) 26 Feb 2014
Gotta say watching Cleverley last night one of groundsmen would do a better job than him in midfield and Hodgson loves Clev! That just about sums up England's chances. Failure to get out of the group will at least spare us the embarrassment of penalties!

3.) 26 Feb 2014
I'd be annoyed if Carroll goes instead of Lambert. He may have been poor recently for saints but he was brilliant every time he played for england

4.) 26 Feb 2014
I reckon Lambert, Shaw and Lallana will all go, but not Jrod. Some of the picks are too close to call though. Could be some disappointed players. Like Defoe, Carrick, Cole, Milner

cleverly not internatioal player and never will be
same as rooney not world class and never will be
but hodgson thinks they are because of who they play for
but I agree I can't see ricky going but I hope I am wrong
as for carroll he is not a patch on ricky but hodgson likes him as well

I'll have a pint of what you lot have been drinking!

7.) 27 Feb 2014
I'm pretty sure that Lallana will go to Brazil, I hope that Lambert and Rodriguez will too, still a little undecided whether Luke will go but I'm happy if any of them go. They've all progressed so much in the last 3 years it's unbelievable! 😃

8.) 27 Feb 2014
Agree, think Carroll will go instead of Rickie, don't think JRod is quite ready yet, Lallana for me is a definate and I would imagine Luke will get a chance to impress in the friendlies. Cork, however won't go

I believe that Lallana has to go, and will be in the squad announced today. As for other players, they still have a lot to prove. Lambert seems to be scoring fewer goals this year, but his general play is good, and he creates a lot of chances for other players, so I'd go with him ahead of Carroll, who has barely played this year. As for Jay-Rod, I thought he had a reasonable game previously for England, and deserves another chance. Luke Shaw is the future England Left back, and while still has a lot to learn, would be worth taking, since he could be England's Left back for the next 14 years - the experience will help for the futurre.

As for Jack Cork, I don't think that he'll be included, but he'd do a good job for England. One thing England can't seem to do is retain the ball. Jack would certainly help keep the ball, and is a very tidy player. If he does get included, what's the betting that he scores for England before he scores for Saints?

Whatever happens, it should be a proud day for Southampton FC

1. Think Lallana will definitely go.

2. Rickie will go if he keeps up scoring unless Carroll hits form and is amazing in the back end of the season.

3. Shaw and Rodriguez will get their chance in the friendly. If they play well they'll go, but it's a lot to ask to impress in just one game with a disjointed team.

My hunch? 2 from Saints will go. Lallana and probably Rickie.

Reckon we'll see at least 4 saints players in the 32-man squad - AL, RL, JR, LS
