I think Clyne has made a big mistake agreeing to join Liverpool and the reasoning is quite simple. If he signs a five year deal as is expected to be announced, it means he'll essentially be there until he's 28, maybe 29 if he runs down his contract again. At which point Man City, Chelsea and United those teams where he would have been competing in the Champions League and maybe winning the Premier League title will have signed younger maybe even better right back's to him.

Whereas had he stayed here and run down his contract, or even signed a year or two year extension he could of well been looking at replacing Zabaleta at City, or Ivanovic at Chelsea, or perhaps joined United on a free next summer.

That's hard to dispute, the only thing I can think is that you'd want get yourself a big contract asap in case of bad injury. also UTD need a RB now so surely if they thought he was good enough they'd have bid.

Yeah, I should of added in the short term Clyne will likely reap the rewards from a bigger pay check and to being in a bigger spotlight at Liverpool which should help towards his England chances. But as I said it all but diminishes his chances of joining one of the top 4 club's because Liverpool won't want to give up one of their players cheaply, case in point the Sterling fiasco!
