Galatasaray president nal Aysal is interested in Southampton winger Gaston Ramirez according to Sabah newspaper editor Levent Tzemen.

Just get it over with Gaston, no offence but I don't see you playing our high pressing game, yout agent says you don't like MoPo and now you can't make it to the bench unless there are injuries.

This is getting embarrissing, plus we could do a lot with that money at Christmas.

1.) 29 Oct 2013
Total and utter BS! We do not need the money for Christmas or New Years or Easter for that matter. Did you miss out on the fact that Gastòn missed preseason cuz of the Confederations Cup? He is nowhere near the same fitness level as the other players. MP has repeatedly said that he is not selling him. He will get his chance and has a lot to offer. We need different types of players for different types of games.

2.) 29 Oct 2013
Is that true? I don't think Pochettino has said anything definitive on Ramirez one way or the other. Clearly we don't HAVE to sell, BTU I honestly think Cortese would listen to serious offers.

3.) 30 Oct 2013
Personally I don't see gaston leaving anytime soon. let's not forget that the season is only quarter of the way through, we still have capital one cup games to play & also fa cup games coming up. In ordr for us to continue on #ourjourney we will need that strength in depth which is where both gaston & cork wil play a part. Its no secret that he is lagging behind in terms of overall fitness which the club is focussing on for him. If anyone reading this was at the last home game then you will have noticed it was gaston that was first out after half time to warm up & is up for the challenge of staying with us.

4.) 30 Oct 2013
St. Peter you are kidding yourself if you keep buying the "Gaston missed pre-season" rubbish.

He's not a very fit footballer. He struggles with fitness. It was the same last year. It doesn't take 3 months intense training to get fit to feature in a football match! He also played 90 mins against Bristol City so he was obviously fit then. His long-term fitness is an issue, nothing to do with his lack of pre-season. Stop making excuses for him.

I said this summer that if he wasn't up to scratch in pre-season then cash in now. He'll only go down in value and there are a lot of talented youngsters out there. Get £12m back for him and go buy a more developed player.

5.) 30 Oct 2013
St Peter saying "we do not need money" is so ignorant!

There will be a cap on the amount of money the Lieberhh family injects into SFC. We've spent a lot considering the size of our club and our revenue streams. If selling Gaston means we can afford to get a different young player in who will actually play and contribute, then we will sell Gaston.

6.) 30 Oct 2013
I think a lot will depend on how he feels his WC chances may be affected by not playing game time at Saints.

7.) 30 Oct 2013
Well said St Peter and the only one above prepared to back up his opinion by giving a name. Respect. What's really embarrassing is the ignorant, opinionated no names on here spouting factless, conspiracy theories. Yes, it is true, Poch stated clearly in the summer that Gaston was staying. Btw, all contributors to this site are ignorant to some extent. If your so bloody knowledgeable then how much was the cap?

8.) 30 Oct 2013
I believe Gaston was told his place for Uruguay is safe even if he is not in the Saints team, that's what the papers reported anyway.

MoPo obviously chooses players with a very high defensive work rate so players like Cork and Gaston are not getting a look in when there are people in their positions with a higher defensive work rate.

Our high pressing system will not work without a high defensive work rate from the forwards, if they don't snuff out the accurate long ball before it is played then the other team will be in behind our defence (positioned on the half way line) in a flash.

MoPo must have stood there as a CB in his playing days and said one day I will build a team that few will score against and everyone in the team will work hard in defence. There will be no Berbatov's in my team no matter how skilful they are going forward if they can't defend then they won't get in my team.

We need the money due to the financial fair play rules.

Suarez and Cavani actualy went and played for Uruguay too and I don't hear them using that as an excuse, they are in terific form?

9.) 30 Oct 2013
When asked about selling Gaston recently, MoPo said they would consider all things when the time comes but this is not the time.

While in the summer this was what was said - Mauricio Pochettino does not expect record signing Gaston Ramirez to leave Southampton this summer and has denied making a bid for Roma's Pablo Osvaldo.

10.) 30 Oct 2013
With some extremely talented forwards you can tell them to work their socks off to get the ball back and they will gladly do it for you, Rooney being a good example, and what did MoPo say about Rooney just a fortnight ago?
"He is as good as Lionel Messi".

Then there are other forwards out there that think it is not their job to deffend and win the ball back,
"Keep calm and pass me the ball" forwards, ask them to up their work rate and the next thing you read in the paper is their agent spouting about how much the player does not like you.

11.) 30 Oct 2013
Some of you guys keep referring to the papers and agents as if everything they say is true. We need a big squad, and most of the 25 + a few youth players will contribute this season. If JayRod or Lallana gets injured we don't have many creative options.

12.) 30 Oct 2013
Top of post "Poch needs different types of player for different games" he plays virtually same team ever week, enough said!

13.) 30 Oct 2013
Totally agree with everything said by St Peter. and I 'will' also put my name to his comments! There's playing 90minutes and than there's playing 90minutes at the same tempo as the rest of the team. give him time!

14.) 31 Oct 2013
Looks at the previous signings that couldn't make it onto the bench.
Mayuka and Forren, oh yeh that's right Forren and Mayuka aren't up to full fitness yet I forgot - give them another season to adjust.

15.) 31 Oct 2013
I think Ramirez will go. The fact that Guly is getting off the bench ahead of him says it all really

16.) 31 Oct 2013
Saying that as if guly is awful, yet he is part of the success of this club and deserves his chance much more than ramirez IMO.

17.) 01 Nov 2013
Now we are arguing over who is better Guly or Gaston?
Have a word.

18.) 05 Nov 2013
St. Peter, Gazza, Donola Cocacola and Saint MW.
The only ones to give your names who also have something balanced and sensible to say.
That is actually "what says it all really" above any criticism of our players.

Gaston, potentially a great player for the future. Hope he stays with us for the long hall and improves in line with the rest of our squad

Up the Saints

19.) 06 Nov 2013
Never said guly was better, it's just I hate it when people act like he shouldn't be playing, yet he was a big factor in getting up the the leagues.

20.) 07 Nov 2013
Regarding Gaston, and club finances, everyone seems to be guessing that Cortese will cash in, or that we'll give him a little more time.

I'm sure Nicola Cortese is asking the question regarding Gaston as to whether he could better use the resources elsewhere.

Yes the club has a certain amount of wealth, potentially could spend hundreds of Millions on players, but that isn't what Cortese and Kathrin Liebher are about.

In part Saints are limited by financial fair play restrictions. With Gaston being one of the biggest earners at the club, one would think that failure to perform at a high enough level would mean that Cortese would look to move him on to fund the further development of the squad.

For Saints to be able to spend more on players wages, they need to be able to increase their revenue streams: This means increased merchandising sales; increased sponsorship; and increased gate receipts via expansion of stadium size (note this doesn't have to be at current site).

Interestingly Cortese recently projected that Saints would increase their income by 100% over the next 3 years.

21.) 08 Nov 2013
For Gaston read Rudi Skacel.
