Any striker rumours EDS ? Now that Long is out for 3-5 weeks

From listening to a recent interview it would fit in with Koeman saying he is likely to go Dutch in the summer.
The Echo reports that there is unlikely to be any January signings but Long's injury may force his hand.

I expect he may go for a loan striker rather than paying over the odds at this stage. He will be wanting to hold on to any transfer funds available until he knows which competitions we will be in come the start of next season!!!

heard over the weekend (ex bbc source) that jay rod will not play this season.

can anyone throw any light on this as i have not seen anything reported.

if true we will need to bring someone in given that long will be out for a few weeks.

I hope that the story is not true

i'm not an expert or particularly ITK but I'd say the Everton or Hull game in April is the earliest we're likely to see him back. Cutting it close but we could get a month out of him - depends if the club want to risk him or give him the extra month off

@jamesaint Lambert was never the fittest, had chronic back problems and age isn't on his side, who knows what half a season sat on the bench has done to him? I doubt he'd be able to keep up with our team now. As much as we all loved him @smirky's right, he's not coming back and everyone needs to forget about bringing him in

How exactly has the lambert boat gone? He is not getting games at liverpool, he used to play for southampton not that long ago. It seems to make sense to me, but ok, I'll let it go shall I? Let's move on and talk about something else. Ok. What would you like to talk about? Only it seems to me that this is a thread based on our current shortage of strikers and whom we could potentially move for in this area, unless of course I am mistaken in which case I preffer blinds to curtains and most certainly don't like net curtains.

By the way, that's not aimed at saintysaintsainty. Although, to you, I agree that half a season on the bench won't have done him much good but we are only looking for another option at a good price. He would be cheap if not free (on a loan) and would give us options. Also I'm sure he would come.
