(don't post if not appropriate eds)

Heard some interesting things about Forster and the GKing situation just lately

Without going into too much detail word is that Forster had been battling depression since he had his knee injury and a combination of a relationship breakup and other issues in his personal life along with Spurs putting 5 past us on boxing day led to him having a breakdown. Which was the major reason for his dip in form

One of the reasons he refused a move in the summer is because he felt he couldn't handle the pressure of being a no 1 somewhere else and the club agreed he could stay (supposedly) on reduced wages.

Along with that he has been the GK who's impressed RH the most during training and he's more open to McCarthy being moved on than Forster.

A very believable (but sad) story. We forget that footballers are all human and actually real people! When we are going through a bad time, splitting up with a loved one, we can hide within our lives, family and friends. but footballers can't. When we have an injury, be that a bad back or something more serious, it affects our lives . but rarely our career. I met a young player recently who was out with a knee problem for many months, he was clearly down about it.
But . personal problems or not . the harsh reality is . Is FF really that good a goal keeper . mmmm.

I did mention this 4 months ago.

Stuart Taylor released. Just don't get what this club is doing sometimes 😭#RossWilsonOut.

30 Dec 2017 22:32:17
any legs on the Balotelli rumours?

1.) 30 Dec 2017 23:40:49
I didn't know there were any? . I've only just got jack sparrow out of my system!

2.) 31 Dec 2017 06:56:12
Not sure how true they are but apparently he followed Southampton on Twitter/ instagram and posted some cryptic stuff alluding to saints

That and some saints “itk’s” reckon we’ve made a bid.

3.) 31 Dec 2017 10:38:01
Not sure about him he differently knows where the goal is but he the man is a loose cannon. His wages would be higher than most.

4.) 31 Dec 2017 10:49:43
Would be worth a go never be a dull moment and he is back in the Italy team could be the big signing that was rumoured.

5.) 01 Jan 2018 06:16:48
Real wild card. If the price is right then I guess it makes sense, provided it’s a fairly low risk deal. Same story as studge or Walcott for me, needs to be low risk high reward.

27 Nov 2017 08:59:33
surprised no one's blaming Forster for Everton's goal.

"He's 6 foot 7 he should be reaching the top corner from the opposite side of the goal. What use is having a big 'keeper if he can't do that? "

1.) 27 Nov 2017 13:34:02
Yes sainty saint, I have been saying for ages the only reason people are moaning about forster is because we are not scoring goals and the poor guy gets the blame. don't get me wrong he should shoulder some blame but its like I said to a friend after the burnley game, if we scored 3 goals would any one have moand about the 1 goal burnley scored?

2.) 27 Nov 2017 16:26:10
Its probably the fact he's rumoured saints top earner and you expect something from a premier league gker. What he loses in mobility he should make up for in commanding his box and scaring the s@*t out of anyone going near him or his goal. he obviously has allowed his form to dip, hence being dropped by the England squad. He looks half assed at best. nonchalant would be the nicest word I could use to describe him. although there is an air of arrogance. He does a job sure but would like a decent back up option to keep him on his toes and keep him working hard.

3.) 27 Nov 2017 17:18:41
Wow it's always tough to remember nobody is perfect! But I think the the placement of their goal was perfect mind you! You may agree or not?

Forster does need to hard on his acceptability to let in the long shots but apart from that I think many of us have been overbearing in our criticism towards him.

No doubt that's partly due the results we've been getting of late. Why any of the other so called England goalkeepers are ahead of him simply amazes me!

Pickford was outstanding for England last week mind you. However his Everton form shouldn't put him ahead of our man nor can hearts form! For that matter.
Some of our supporters have forgotten what it was like being a Saints fan when we was relegation fodder for most of the 1990's maybe they wasn't born. so can't possibly remember.
I can it was fun beating the odds season after season.

However, we have move on from those days and we expect more! But maybe we should start to point out more often our players finer points. It's easy to pick holes in others when mistakes are made.

4.) 28 Nov 2017 18:03:50
Whether the criticism has been over the top or not, if you think Forsters performances this season have been acceptable, you need a trip down the opticians.

5.) 29 Nov 2017 11:54:11
It is well known that people had big doubts about FF when he was at Newcastle. Big parts of his game have not improved and I honestly believe that with a better goal keeper, we would have more points on the board.

6.) 30 Nov 2017 13:02:33
Quoting his Newcastle career is totally out of context firstly he was young and still learning his craft secondly when was the last time Newcastle produce a world class players
from their academy.?
he needed to go to Scotland for that!

I'm not claiming he' s without fault he cleanly has frailties but I am looking to my follow Saint fans for a balanced approch to their views in fairness of criticism toward any of our players! We should always be mindful that we supporters of our club and it's players e. g. can you say he is worst than west ham's Heart or Everton's Pickford both are ahead of him international?
Personal I wouldn't.
I would like to see us avoid emotional criticism towards our players other wise we risk being looked appon as people like Donald Trump unhinged.!

7.) 01 Dec 2017 15:59:01
It’s why they sold him!

8.) 02 Dec 2017 16:53:54
4theloveofgame - it is you that has taken my post out of context. If you re read my comment it isn’t all factual. As saint0001 said, they sold him for a reason and since then, he has not improved as the faults remain. I think you will find my comment was both balanced, fair and factual. Like you said at Newcastle he could blame his age, not any more!

9.) 02 Dec 2017 18:19:00
Yes sorry, it was me hands up! My apologies.

07 Jun 2016 23:05:36
Seen some reports saying AC Milan have contacted Pellegrini. Isn't that who Emery was supposed to be going to?

1.) 08 Jun 2016 06:06:05
No that's PSG.

Hi guys,

Watching the game here in the USA really feared for the worst in the first half but what a turn round! Absolutely right no sitting back but going for it, 30 from 30 now and those 3 points were a total bonus,3 weeks to get everyone fit and we are not relying on other teams, great to knock arrogant spurs down and just shows how unlucky we were against Utd. coys.

2.) 10 Mar 2019 02:31:44
Bloody good second half from Saints. I think after the first half the spuds came out thinking that a few more goals were going to come but when Saints upped their game the spuds couldn't find another gear. 2 very good games against top opposition in the last two weeks. Thought that we deserved something from Man U but 3 points today was probably more than everyone expected. Could have done without the 3 week break now really as we're on a roll but hopefully everyone will be fit and raring to go for the last 8 games.

3.) 11 Mar 2019 10:01:04
First game I've watched this season where I feel that we've been the "lucky team" - with Spurs squandering all their chances. They could've easily been 4-0 up at half time. But their decision making in front of goal wasn't great. We came out in the second and played great football, Redmond could've scored 2 himself.
Even though we were lucky, Spurs could've easily had a few red cards. Vertonghen high boot, Walkers-Peters tackle off the ball and Sissoko headbutt.

16 Dec 2018 15:28:07
what a difference.

1.) 16 Dec 2018 15:54:45
Can't believe (and hadn't realised) we hadn't scored a header all season! amazing performance . the pressing was from the Poch era . fantastic game of football to watch!

2.) 16 Dec 2018 17:12:39
Agree, and thankfully my comment of the other day came good, looks like we set up as 3,5,2.

30 Apr 2017 04:52:52
Remember being knocked out the cups early last season and how many of you said you'd give up league position for a decent cup run? 😂

Swear you lot just love a moan 😂.

1.) 30 Apr 2017 11:39:22
Think again the most frustrating thing is more the way they're performing. The Chelsea game I actually thought was ok but yesterday was not good enough. I don't care about rejuvenated teams or new managers we should not be drawing 0-0 at home to hull, no disrespect. A few down the beach earning their mega money while the supporters are still having to pay full whack to watch that pompey. all home games should be discounted till the end of the season and season ticket holders should get free cup next year or something incentive wise. again though we are safe but how will we replace van dijk. romueo might be under the radar enough to stay another season but players will leave and players will come, the problem this year seems to of been the players in haven't matched the quality of this leaving, could that be due to coaching/ scouting/ staff changes or black box not up to scratch but we have paid a lot of money on players this year . will they come good next year, who knows, who knows what the summer will bring but rumours start somewhere and I'm reading a lot of players leaving and not too many inbound. lazy jourbalism is a possibility and hopefully it won't be summer sale clear out again.

13 May 2016 11:05:15
Big Fraser just signed a new 5 year contract. Things are starting to look good!

1.) 13 May 2016 12:28:30
And JWP. both excellent news.

14 Apr 2016 14:47:08
Just set my profile picture to a supposed leak of next seasons shirt (if I'm allowed to have it up aha)

1.) 14 Apr 2016 23:59:53
Yh I would be happy with that kit 100 percent.

May as well have stuck with Gabbiadini if we want a striker who’s not prolific or better yet give the place to Obafemi/ Barnes/ Gallagher/ Seager and give them a chance to impress.

Love Davo, sad to see him go but he’s not playing and he deserves to finish his career the way he wants.

Happy to get rid of Gabbiadini, over the last two seasons he’s averaged a goal every 258 mins whereas Austin (who’s commonly referred to as ‘not good enough’) has averaged one every 195, Austin puts a shift in and doesn’t moan every time he doesn’t get an inch perfect pass. Gabbiadini’s simply not good enough.

Reckon Long might do okay under Ralph, scored 15? During Koeman’s first season with a similar style of play. I’d imagine Obefemi/ Barnes could do a similar job but I’d keep Long around until the end of the season at least.

Liked seeing mccarthy dropped, made too many mistakes especially in the last few games. Could actually see Ralph getting pissed off with him.

If you’d offered me 7 points from that run of games before Ralph came in I’d have bit your hand off. Got an ‘easier’ set of games coming up and more training time between them so let’s see where we are in feb.

Most of the ITK's seem to think he's essentially already a southampton player - signed contracts etc just that at the point in which liverpool made him available it was quicker and easier to sign him as a loanee as a full transfer may not have gone through in time.

Similar thing to Bertrand iirc.

{Ed001's Note - actually the main consideration is you wanted to have more time to look at what damage the long term injuries had done to him.}

Definitely said lemina wasn’t going but skirted gabbiadini. Apparently gabbiadini isn’t a fan of Ralph because he’s making them work hard (the same reason he disliked sarri at napoli)

I mean, he wanted to leave and wasn't going to sign a new contract. Could've kept him and had half that player and then lost him on a free or made a few quid towards a replacement.

build up to the penalty stephens was fouled, doesn't excuse putting his arm in the air but possibly couldn't be helped.

Played well 2nd half yesterday, deserved more than a draw. Definitely stay up if we keep playing like that. Can't see us needing more than 10 more points.

in terms of screwing spurs over, I hope he goes and takes half their squad with him.

In terms of his career I hope he stays, utd's a poisoned chalice at the moment and he'd be better off sticking at spurs, building something there and waiting for the madrid job imo.

Can't see that Betinelli one being true. Even if we sold McCarthy wouldn't we just play Gunn?

Gabbiadini wouldn't be much of a miss tbh, never puts any effort in and has scored 1 in 8 this season. Constantly hear about how our midfielders 'never pick the right pass for him', but even when it's put on a plate for him he does nothing with it. We're now on our 4th? manager who doesn't see him as a starter, there's something in that. Ralph picks on training effort and after his first full week he wasn't even in the squad.

Bednarek won't be going, can't see why he hasn't played more

Davis deserves a return to rangers, been brilliant for us and wants to retire there. Doubt he'll ever get a meaningful run in this side again so I'd like to see him go. Probably a free that, think he's out of contract in the summer.

Hopefully Forster goes to Leeds. Can't see them paying his wages though and was happy to not play and pick up his wage in the summer. Maybe after 6 months he's changed his mind.

Boufal and Carrillo are suited to La Liga tbh. Should stay, better off being there and being in the shop window than returning here and potentially being stuck out the side

Clasie wants to move back to Holland, think he's going back to Feyenoord in the summer - similar sort of thing with Ings to us

Hesketh and Flannigan are only on loan until January, Hesketh's looked brilliant so far, like to see him loaned to a higher division if he's not going to get many games in the first team. Don't think Flannigan's even played a game for Burton which is a shame 'cause he always looked like he'd make it before those knee injuries

McQueen's not played much at boro. Can't see him getting in the side here. Should go somewhere he'll be first choice.

Reed's doing well at Blackburn, let him finish the season there and see where he'll fit in the summer imo

Sims will hopefully get a few games under Reading's new manager. Can see Ralph liking him but I don't think he's strong enough for PL football yet. Needs that game time in the Championship to get kicked imo.
