What's the thoughts on Adam Armstrong?

I for one would like to see him given another chance now that Broja has gone. I suppose it depends if we bring in another striker. Che took a while to 'warm up'.

Thoughts? Another try or a loan move?

I honestly think he is just not PL standard. Che is a very intelligent player and I think you need that to achieve anything in the PL. The defenders are quicker, have much better positional play; they don’t give you an inch.
Sadly, he’s not upped his game accordingly. Yes I know people say he hasn’t had much chance. but when he was on the pitch, he was very much a get the ball, run towards goal and shoot at first opportunity person. Rarely looked around and passed or even moved into a better position to receive the ball .

So it’s game over in the PL

I’ve seen a lot of Che and far less of Adam (for obvious reasons) and if I was to hang my hat on either it would be Adam. We’ve seen what Che can do well and also what he can’t do. Blood and sweat yes, pace no, instinctive finisher no, 20 goal man, no. Good squad player.
Adam - well I haven’t a clue really. I was at Goodison Park on the opening day of last season and he opened his account with a scorcher and I thought we’ve got some player here. But then things fizzled out.
I wrote in another post about the potential of Nlundulu and how I thought he would be a star of the future - big, strong and an eye for goal (Broja like) but there he is out on loan at Cheltenham Town.
So, we absolutely need a goal scorer with 20 goals in his locker - at this level

Personally I think that we need another striker anyway. We only have Armstrong and Adams as recognised strikers and at some stage of the season 1 or both could be injured or suspended. I think that Adams can do well next season now that he's had time to settle but I'm not sure if Armstrong has what it takes at the top level. I'm fairly happy with the signings so far although they are mostly youngsters. I think that we need a bit more experience to help the young players when they are brought into the first team.

We need another striker and we need to keep Amstrong minimum. We need a quality striker like a Dembele and we need a youngster like Delap from City. That way we would probably start matches with Che and Dembele up front and have armstrong and Delap as options. To be fair with the improvments we are making in the first team you would hope that would give Armstrong more quality chances when his he does get a chance on the pitch

I agree south_hants_rich although I would rather see a striker like Dembele but if that is a stretch to far we definatly need somone like ings with his experiance

Would like to see Armstrong given more time, Che struggled his first season and arguably got more game time. There’s a player there, needs a run in the team and some confidence but he and Che together would net us 15-20 a season between them

Don’t want Ings anywhere near the club, bloke was finished, the club saved his career, gave him a platform to perform and at the first opportunity foxtrot oscared. Now it’s backfired on him so we should do it all again? No

I would take him back everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. He will bring 20 goals and like me, you have no idea what went on behind the scenes.
