Based on the recent posts on this page I'd like to get your opinion on what you think the best starting 11 would be to play against Burnley. Do we look at changing the formation? Which players will deliver best at producing attacking free flowing football that is good to watch on the eye?
Here's my starting 11:
GK: FF
RWB: Cedric
CB: VVD
CB: Yoshi
CB: Hoedt
LWB: Bertand
CDM: Romeu
CM: JWP
CM: Davis
ST: Austin
ST: Gabbiadini

Here's how I imagine and would want it playing. 3 solid CB's against a team that are good at attacking in the air. This would give the wing backs the opportunity to attack using the width of the pitch. I would want JWP and Davis supporting them also, but the triangle in midfield would allow us to keep possession in the midfield with one of the strikers dropping deep to help. It's not a very fast team, so I wouldn't expect it to be much use on the counter, but I think this would be the best line-up for what MP is trying to achieve.

I think the best thing about our midfield especially is that there is a lot of depth. Which does offer us a lot of flexibility, for example if the above wasn't working and we weren't creating chances you could look at swapping off one of the CM's and one of the ST for Boufal and Redmond and play a 5-2-3. One thing that we didn't like Puel doing last season when we were in Europe was rotating the squad. However, this season I don't think we've done it enough. It took MP long enough to start playing 2 up top.

I agree with previous posts that we need to give our players more freedom, and play with a lot more pace. This doesn't just mean having fast players though, but being more direct and thinking faster. We take way too many touches on the ball at the moment.

I'd like to see Sims given a real shot. I liked him when he played last year, he seemed very willing to run at people which I think we need. Also I agree with a previous poster Lemina should play in midfield.

I think we should take advantage of how many good cb's we have, and our attacking wing backs, and go to 5 at the back (3 when attacking) . Romeu and Lemina would make a strong midfield. My only concern would be a lack of creativity in midfield, we'd need Lemina to play well from the start and be our own (probably lesser) version of Dembele for Spurs.

My lineup for next game:

Forster (just about)
Hoedt
Stephens (think VVD is still a couple weeks off first team football)
Yoshida
Cedric
Bertrand
Romeu
Lemina
Redmond
Sims
Gabbiadini

Bench: McCarthy, McQueen, Bednarek (maybe VVD is sharp enough for bench? ), JWP, Davis, Boufal/ Tadic, Austin.

What's your guys top starting 11? A lot of competition in midfield which is great. I think my personal line up would go something like this:
Gk: Fraser Forster ( Haven't seen enough of McCarthy to put him in)
Defence: Cedric Hoedt Vvd Bertrand
Midfield: Lemina Romeu
Redmond Boufal
St: Austin Gabbiadini
Subs: McCarthy Yoshi Stephens Jwp Tadic Davis Long.

If the club really want to progress then I think the current players fall into 3 categories. Good enough, needs to prove themselves and times up needs replacing. This is how I see it:

Good enough:

Forster, Mcarthy, VVD, Fonte, Bertrand, Targett, Davis, Tadic, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Long

Needs to prove themselves:

JWP, J-Rod, Austin, Boufal, Cedric, Reed, Pied

Times up:

Yoshida, Classie, Romeu, Martina, Gardos

What are your thoughts?

Your crazy!,
Romeu needs improving
Long is turkey
And why is Target in the good enough category, he is our second left back!

I Think we are set for the season now
Really like to see are youth get a chance and bringing anyone else in would kill that chance.

But my wish list is still
Spider and chambers and the OX they will always be welcome back to saints for me

As for a dream singings we need and interim CB and bony would be well worth a bid as was a real star at Swansea
Can't see bring in a unproven European forward is going to help

My starting 11 and subs

Forster
Cedric fonte vvd Bertrand
Romeu
Hojberg Davis
Tadic
Austin. Long

Subs
McCathery
Target
Stephens
Jwp
Classie
Redmond
j rod

Back up
Gallagher
Reed
Pied
Mc queen
Jones
Barnes
Sims
Yoshi
Gardos.
