Perhaps u can help eds. What is it the club hope to gain by keeping vvd? Surely he won't play for us anyway if we keep him and if he does I can't see it will be with any conviction on his part. I know he could go to a club that is not Liverpool, but given their stance even selling to anyone would make a mockery of thier current statements. How does either side come out saving face?

llamedossaint

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool and, in particular Klopp, are totally responsible for the damage that has been done and the situation Southampton and the player find themselves in. I cannot personally see a way back for the player or the club and would expect him to move on this week.}

1.) 28 Aug 2017 11:06:04
Thanks ed. I agree he needs to move on now but just can't understand why club are sticking to the 'not going anywhere' story when they must know he needs to leave too. Surely it will make us look weak? Why not just be honest and say will be going? Does our current stance increase his value?

{Ed002's Note - No clubs think about other clubs "looking weak" just like they don't care about "statements of intent" or any such thing. This makes no difference to his value.}

2.) 28 Aug 2017 17:05:56
Thanks for thoughts ed! Personally I just want the saga to end. It seems like it has dragged on and perhaps scuppered other transfer opportunity we might have had with the income.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 19:27:53
World Cup next year, can't see him being picked if he hasn't played the entire season. He's on a very long contract, the club has all the power and it's nice to see them not being bullied into selling for once. I expect him to stay and apologise and play again.

4.) 28 Aug 2017 19:45:16
Will fetch more in January.

5.) 28 Aug 2017 21:11:26
Spoke to an ex saints player 2 weeks ago and he had spent the whole Friday at saints. Won't name him but I was on a flight to Guernsey he stated categorically that VVD was not for sale this window and would NOT be going to Liverpool- clearly money talks but that was the clubs stance and appears to remain so. Why would anyone sign for a manager who appears to think he is bigger than the players the way they have treated sakho and mignonette seems appalling and basically bullying in any other workplace. Also why would anyone want a player who has basically been on strike twice at two clubs comes across ok but appears to be a merchant banker.

6.) 29 Aug 2017 09:58:21
Saints0001 I agree with you but also why would we want a player who has basically been on strike twice and appears to be a merchant banker.

Why do I bother?! Bit peed off if i'm honest as would have liked more of a run in europe, but I guess it reduces squad pressure. Goal scorer a MUST now in jan. Will being out of europe prove costly here I wonder? Last thing, what is the point of goal difference if it has zero effect on qualification.

llamedossaint

1.) 08 Dec 2016 22:41:02
Agreed - I thought we had done enough when we scored only to find out it doesn't count for anything because it is head to head if we both end up on same points.

2.) 09 Dec 2016 07:01:24
If we start doing well in the prem I don't mind being uot of the europa league, but if we carry on being rubbish I too will be v pissed off.

3.) 09 Dec 2016 16:24:51
I don't expect us to meet the dizzy heights of last season this year in the prem unfortunately. The best we can hope for is a mid table, obsolete boring season like those enjoyed by teams like stoke and palace before us. Although there is always the enjoyment of watching those West Ham fans trying to get tickets in the championship next season in their amazing new stadium!

4.) 09 Dec 2016 18:59:07
I agree with most here, but if we do buy a proven goalscorer then this may make a difference, we make good chances every game and need someone to be ruthless - in my eyes we haven't got the replacement for Mane and we need a replacement for Jay.

5.) 10 Dec 2016 16:51:44
Goalscorer and someone to link it all together. dusan looks great this year but needs support.

6.) 11 Dec 2016 22:33:45
Agreed, we need s goal scorer who is more than a target man as dusan isn't assisting as much this year, a creative scorer, just please god not sturridge! Too expensive. we need to go to that black box and produce a pearl. NOW!

31 Aug 2016 17:06:28
Although I have generally backed board decisions here, I feel we do need to sign someone at CB as man utd could still gazump us at last minute with no time left. Hope I can write again later with a positive message. 6 hours left.

llamedossaint

1.) 31 Aug 2016 17:22:04
Still don't think we will be signing anyone. Normally there are at least snippets of info out there if it was to happen.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 21:11:47
agree, I think we've done all our business this window now.
Pity really, we'll see how we get on.

3.) 31 Aug 2016 21:39:47
We're doomed! Haha not really liking the new manager or tactics yet but will still get behind the team, manager and players and see what he is about.

4.) 01 Sep 2016 08:27:44
Unfortunately we don't look like a team who could win 8-0 again regardless of the opposition. No question we signed some great young players but we desperately needed a striker. We cannot rely on a hard working Shane long who isn't a goal scorer and Austin who is an injury doubt. No need to panic as mid table looks realistic but a striker should have been the priority!

5.) 01 Sep 2016 13:13:11
We didn't 'look' like a team that could beat anyone 8-0 the season we did that either .

6.) 01 Sep 2016 21:02:52
That's true but I would have liked another dimension to our game the diamond I know is new and yes the players are struggling but when is 2.2 and you can see a win chucking on a big striker and crossing for fun would have helped I think.

02 Jun 2016 20:48:12
RoKo just delaying announcing his extension as Les wants to reveal Zlatan at the same time!

llamedossaint

1.) 03 Jun 2016 08:09:03
I believe RoKo to be a man of honour. He'll see out his contract or sign an extention. He won't be going anywhere with a year left on this contract.

2.) 03 Jun 2016 10:12:48
Rumour is, and I say rumour, that Koeman has informed the board he will see out his year but will not sign a contract extension. The club have acted by allowing Koeman to leave to enable them to get the next manager in and move forward with the five year plan, rather than be potentially back to square 1 in a years time. Could be nonsense, the whole Everton thing could also be nonsense. Until the club or Koeman himself make a statement then I will hold on to every last hope that he will be here next season.

3.) 03 Jun 2016 10:27:20
New has just broken on Skysports that Koeman is in talks with Everton and a compensation of around 3m to be paid to us.

4.) 03 Jun 2016 10:49:19
If he goes the club have no plans to progress I can't believe they have allowed him to talk to Everton. Is this the manager who stated players couldn't leave last year if so smacks of double standards. Hopefully lazy journalism but I fear not.

5.) 03 Jun 2016 10:57:25
I was hoping it was lazy journalism however I think there are two many reports on it now for there not to be any truth in it.

15 Dec 2015 20:54:23
With Pelle needing injections to get through next games surely RK will finally see new front man as a MUST! Shane does a great job but is not the type of forward to play the managers hold up game. Not sure Austin is the answer either. Time for a new face from U21 even? Can't make us any worse and might lift us as would be keen to make impact.

llamedossaint

1.) 15 Dec 2015 21:25:27
reckon Seager could do a decent job, seems like a decent mix of Pelle's and Long's style. Probably not quite ready for a lot of minutes but after 21 goals for the u21's last season he's probably worth a go.

2.) 15 Dec 2015 21:43:36
Yeah I reckon we could get Ronaldo from under Man U noses and at a rate of 1mil a year for the next 120 years a I owe u note for wages (SORTED)
He will deffently bag us 5 goals a season

The southampton fc way
PROPPER.

3.) 16 Dec 2015 12:05:58
No it will be the usual. ignore the youth and buy/ loan some could of been from Holland.

4.) 16 Dec 2015 12:38:35
Sam Gallagher. Should never have gone out on loan but I suppose the thinking was that Jrod would have been fit and up to speed.

5.) 16 Dec 2015 13:10:16
Pelle might miss Spurs game.

Interesting artice by Bill Edgar in the times re our decision to sack CP and stats before and since.

llamedossaint

03 Feb 2018 15:13:02
Mmmm. at least its early enough to score an equaliser.

llamedossaint

1.) 03 Feb 2018 15:40:55
How? each game is like watching a repeat . in slow motion!
slow build up . no end product! we have changed absolutely nothing in the way we play! it hasn't worked in all the previous games and it won't work in this!
What more needs to happen for the manager to be sacked?

2.) 03 Feb 2018 15:50:14
mmmmmm we score two as I wrote that!
but we are still playing too slow! :-)

3.) 03 Feb 2018 16:32:33

Hammers willing to sell Javier Hernandez. Worth a punt?

llamedossaint

1.) 13 Jan 2018 11:09:05
He thinks he's to good.

02 Jan 2018 21:44:12
One word. doomed.

llamedossaint

1.) 02 Jan 2018 21:53:33
Yes. can't see any solution to this now. we will do a Pompey.

2.) 02 Jan 2018 21:59:06
I agree, the board have backed MP and they obviously can't see or admit that he does not cut it - 17th in the table now, and I can't see where our next win will come from.
Sad really.

3.) 02 Jan 2018 22:17:01
WTH. In the first half we were quite good, then come out from half time and the players were like they had just woken up. I have been fairly against the idea of sacking MP up until now, however after watching them tonight I am almost ashamed to be a saints supporter. We need a replacement manager and a better squad ASAP, and we might survive. I think there could be some tense meetings between the board and MP soon, and hopefully a good result will come out of it. The passing was fairly sloppy, as well as the pitch, and then they send in these high long balls, to a little shrimp of a guy called SHANE LONG! Sheer Lunacy! #! &&"$£$£"#@**|? "~£&^%! # (New swear word. Don't ask what it means)

4.) 02 Jan 2018 22:36:52
The whole situation is laughable how he can still get their backing is beyond me
I'm at a point where I'm losing interest with these clowns and I think I speak for everyone they are clueless.

5.) 02 Jan 2018 23:10:25
We are the latest talk on social media, and it isn't positive stuff really. Some of it is jolly funny though.

Wow 002.this was very insightful. What is happening to the beautiful game?! Reading this, should saints be less woried about signing players to stayin the prem rather finding a chinese buyer? Might it be why Kruger is trying so hard to sell our brand in America because he knows what lies ahead?

Unfortunately I am starting to get disheartened with this 5 year plan talk. It feels as if it restarts with the talk of each new manager. I know money talks, but if it was a decent plan surely heads would not turn so easily. At least at 63 Pellagrini might see it through to see out his career.

Thank you. So I guess its not quite as gloomy as first thought?! I seem to remember an Eds, maybe your good self, a while ago suggesting a Chinese super league scenario I think. Suppose china links will help with this as a club?

Also believe board chose Koeman instead of him last time so would he dven be interested now? Might still feel snubbed.
