The most disturbing thing for me is the loss of Paul Mitchell to spurs. Why are we letting go such a good talent spotter ? Are the wages that low at saints we can't keep anybody if a "bigger" club comes knocking. Players have left and we have been ok because this man has apparently been diligently identifying replacements, now what happens ? will he strip away our scouting network to benefit spurs ? Letting go such a key foundation stone seems a crazy thing to do. eally hoping that the club have sourced a top replacement for this guy as its the key to our recent success.

He's a good guy and head of a department. He also helped sign Forren, Taider, Osvaldo, Ramirez, Mayuka & Gazzaniga. I don't know why Levy just doesn't employ Cortese and be done with it!

If you looked at some of the Job ads places on the OS, the wages are totally awful. Still, I'm sure that we'll be ok.
Lets face it, Saints work in such a way that no one person has too much importance - highlighted by Cortese going and Pocha-what's his name.

They let him go because its probably not down to the magic of one guy - its probably a team approach and a system they use and so it does not really matter that much if one of the tyres goes flat because there are 3 more to keep it on the road until a replacement is fitted.

Nice car analogy!

And while i am still thinking - Ron and his brother already seem to have a pretty solid scouting network across Belgium & Netherlands - and probably Germany too - maybe Paul Mitchell could see his importance fading a bit. let's face it their recruitment has been brilliant so far, and i doubt any of the new guys were on the Saints radar except Shane Long.

Some names mentioned by jos33 not the greatest of successful purchases however.

I just laugh. Any other club and it wouldn't even be in the news. Now on.

A high proportion of employees who resign do so because the job gets too big for them, and they see that their employers are looking to replace them.
Making no suggestion that this is the case here but it could be.
Let's not forget all the negativity when MoPo left. We could, and probably will, end up with a stronger structure and one where RoKo can use his expertise to help build, to reflect the club challenging for the top rather than wallowing in the lower reaches of the EPL.

One other little point-what notice period is the guy on-I would expect 3 months?!

If so, can't see Saints suffering too much as they will already have decided what they want to do in January. As far as Spuds are concerned, he would not be functioning until next summer-by which time MoPo could be gone.

The timing of this makes me feel my post above may have some legs to it.

I agree with jos. It wouldn't be a worry if it wasn't in the press. Everyone is talking about saints, the reason is because the pro football pundits can't understand how we are doing so well so are trying to find a way of pre determine our eventual downfall. And this is one of them. Clubs don't do well in the prem now a days unless they sign massive players and throw money around like a lottery winning chav. We are bucking the trend and these pundits don't like it that they didn't forsee is in the top 4 at Christmas. We were pitched by many to go down and no one likes being wrong
