I know it sounds completely wrong but I hope saints have a bad season (not relegated ) to teach the board a lesson, I feel we have been lucky so far with two quality managers in poch and koeman. So we either have to invest some more money or owners sell the club on as I'm sick and tired of us doing well then having to start all over again. Surely can't be that many more quality managers out there?

I think there are a shed load of good managers out there. Really fed up with this nonsense of selling the club on, thank god you're not on the board otherwise we would have gone out of business long ago with that attitude.

It's not luck that our recruitment is excellent, hence progression year on year despite who we've sold/ lost. We're losing less players year on year, so far we've lost Wanyama, can't see many more going (think Mane will stay) . Our board don't need a wake up call.

At the surface it first looks like what seems to be "Starting all over again" but fact of the matter is we have progressed and improve and always finish higher than the season before since being promoted. Who knows, maybe the very reason why we keep progressing is because of this 'unearth, develop, sell' system we've implemented. I too am frustrated at times but until we've actually blew it and underachieve for once then there's nothing I can really complain about.

We are a club which will always have to live with player turnover, while it may be frustrating it works for us as well. Players like Van Dijk signed for us over other teams knowing that Southampton will be a great platform for him to play regularly, learn and improve in world class training facilities and infrastructure.
If you haven't seen it, watch the press box on OS YouTube. Sometimes player and staff turnover can be healthy for a club. I agree it would be nice to have a manager that stays for 3+ years and Claude Puel has a track record of staying at clubs.

After what happened 10 years ago the board are rightly cautious about over spending. When you think we have had a shirt sponsor for the past couple of years paying £2M a year and Man U get about £70M we have to be realistic about competing with wage structure etc with the larger income clubs! The owners and board have done a great job and I'm looking forward to another great season!

As we progress we need to keep improving players and staff, otherwise we would not progress the next season, We will lose some favorites in the process but whilst it works, why knock it?

Players who commit are now signing 4/ 5 year contracts and Les has stated we will take time to bring in a manager who also commits to a long term future. How else do we get into top 4? Have a giant spending spree? That is not going to happen.

We had exactly the same comments from supporters and media "experts" last summer. DYOR re. the Southampton Way-it is a process planned over a number of years and we have always progressed quicker than the plan outlines. What is the problem?

Totally agree with you Saint Martin BUT ( I think you knew that was coming ) . The only problem is contracts can be as long as you want them to be but with the stupid amount of money out there they don't seem to count for much any more.

That's life, chrisdownj. We can't change that but our Board is smart and will manage it eg. African Cup of Nations next season. Maybe that explains some of our decisions?

We hear the moans about RoKo going and "ambition" yet he will, most likely, need to deal with Stones, Lukaku and Barkley leaving. I would suggest that is why Everton have paid so much for his services because rebuilding is the strong point on his CV.

Reality and spin are a long way apart.

Haha people jumping on the sell your best players, managers bandwagon like it's an actual method. The things people make up as they go Makes me laugh, it will all end in tears one day you watch. Possibly this season, Then we will see what everyone has to say!

Will it end in tears? One day, maybe. But, equally, we could be wiped out by a meteor by then.

My glass is still half full.

Yeah keep that fake glass half full face on! Inside you know what a team we could be!
