We play two holding midfielders much like the Dutch did during the world cup that vlaar wowed all the pundits. He is a free transfer for God sake def worth a shot. Better money spent than what was spent on Mr Osvaldo. as previously stated there is a few here that seem to be Ron specialists. Virgil had a bad start to his Celtic career and got a few roastings .I think he could learn a lot from vlaar if they both came here. Both in great business

How on earth could Vlaar be great business??

Unlikely to play until after Christmas window, so no contribution to first half of the season and no certainty he would be fit in the second half of the season.

That's not great business but a total gamble.

How could he be is it?. Well I suppose he could recover fully and get back to his world cup form. He is only 30 hardly finished. I suppose you can look at it from either side. I think he has potential and as much as you can say it's a gamble it's fairly low risk as they go.

{Ed001's Note - fairly low risk? The millions you would spend on a signing fee and his wages while he recovers from injury would add up to round about the amount you spent to buy Clasie. Surely it would be better to just buy someone who is fit now, then look at him later on, as a free agent he can sign outside the window after he has proven his fitness.}

Ed. you can't be right, sorry. After all, the Daily Ukip has stated it will happen so who are we to doubt their complete knowledge of the subject?

It is quite apparent Saints need an extra CB for the start of the coming season. RoKo is hardly likely to miss that one! Certainly Vlaar might be a possibility in 2016 but even then I would think that Saints will be likely to have 4 CBs of international standard by then plus several in the under 21s, so I am not sure it would be necessary-unless injuries had piled up.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't say it wasn't happening, I have no idea as I have not kept up with his situation at all. Last I heard he was busy doing charity work and would not even be considering who to join until much later on. I assumed that meant after the window shuts so forgot all about him, being perfectly honest.}

Vlaar himself said that he will be out for 3/4 months and it would take about the same amount of time to get to a reasonable level of fitness after that so we are talking about 6 to 8 months before he's likely to be ready to play, by which time the premier league will be down to the last 10 or so games. I think that we need someone who is fit and ready for the start of the season not someone who may or may not be ready until then
