Looks like Lyanco signing later today for approximately £7.5m.

The signing has been confirmed.

24 Aug 2021 11:13:57
Thierry Small signed up.

Great signing!
I’m sure somebody mentioned before, but thinking about the reasons behind playing Tino ahead of KWP in the first two games may have been a Ralph’s statement to him that Saints will play young players in the PL - so sign the contract!

I'm reading that we are looking at Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest to replace Vestegaard.

1.) 16 Aug 2021 18:52:46
So Ralph will play him on the left wing and Diallo centre back . apologies for my cynical answer . losing the faith after another Ralph debacle.

2.) 17 Aug 2021 06:31:34
Ralph doesn't buy the players there's a whole team behind the scenes. We are buying championship players, how can you expect more than championship football. Don't forget players like vestergard and Bertrand were available this window. Talk of zouma being available. Tammy, loftus cheek, the ox. Our board sanctioned our players in not the manager, they failed to keep the stars we had. Ralph isn't the best at making subs but we also have nothing of value to bring on except hope.

3.) 18 Aug 2021 15:38:55
Nothing of value to bring on? You mean subs?
KWP
Diallo
Armstrong
Tella

For starters.

4.) 20 Aug 2021 09:33:04
Two of those players should have started and the other two aren't going to set the world alight.

10 Aug 2021 17:38:04
Armstrong has signed.

Armstrong and Broja are two good signings. Let’s hope they both hit the ground running! Still need MC and LB cover and maybe a DC if Jannik goes.

Leicester City looking at Vestegaard now that Fofana is out until Christmas and Saints may be looking to re-sign Oxlade Chamberlain.

Maitland Niles being mentioned in the same sentence as Southampton again and Valery on his way out on loan again.

Ward Prowse saves us a point after doing their best to throw it away again.

You can not play the high press if you give the ball away cheaply!
Apart from the Redmond cross, he was his usual awful self, pondering on the ball not really sure what to do with it!
Mo far more accomplished player, intelligent with and without the ball.

I have to say that the lad Livramento looks the dogs bo**ocks.

1.) 22 Aug 2021 17:17:05
Absolute class of his own, incredible talent.

2.) 23 Aug 2021 15:08:53
He needs to start right midfield if Armstrong not playing.

Eddie Howe apparently waiting for the Saints job.

Interesting read that. I feel like he would be an excellent fit - similar style of play, his teams can’t defend either, does well on limited funds, but don’t see him as an upgrade if and when Ralph does go.

I think Ralph left Redmond on too long. Ward Prowse not anywhere near his best.

I agree SaintGGsy. If Redmond and Djenepo played for Watford, Newcastle, Norwich or any of the other lower Prem league teams they would struggle to get a seat on the bench yet Ralph seems to think that they both do a good job in the starting 11 for us. Unless Ralph comes up with a winning formula over the next 6 weeks I think he'll be gone before Christmas.

Maybe we should ask PSG about Abdou to replace Vestegaard?

I think that Armstrong is off to Palace.

{Ed002's Note - They are one of the interested clubs and have been talking to Blackburn.}

Maybe some good will come from bringing in Caballero. If he plays and has a couple of really good games it could show Ralph just how bad our 2 first team keepers are. He might then realise that he needs to look for a decent keeper sooner rather than later.

I still think that Ralph could be gone before Christmas. He doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. Forster must be brought in after that showing from Mccarthy.

We could always sell JWP to Newcastle in January.

As a premier league manager you should always pick your strongest side regardless of opposition. Unfortunately Ralph doesn't do that. He picks players like Walcott, Djenepo and Redmond week in week out when everyone else can see that they barely deserve a seat on the bench. It's no good saying " you should see how well they trained this week " if they're not showing up on match day. I can understand the likes of Tella and Perraud getting a little disillusioned seeing others playing in front of them when in my opinion they should be 2 of the first names on the team sheet along with Livramento. I think that our next 6 games will determine Ralph's future as manager of Southampton FC. 3 or 4 victories and he'll probably keep his job but anything less than that he'll be looking over his shoulder.

It's not a matter of which manager we would like to come in and take over from Ralph. It's more a case of would any of the managers named want to come to us. My guess would be no.
