Well. hopefully it'll be an important season in shaping our future. I guess we'll done for staying up, well done Hughes and thank you. Thanks to all the eds who offer their insight and information to us even when sometimes we don't want to hear it and thanks to everyone here who engages in usually good, well informed or well thought opinion and debate. now who if anyone would people lose over the summer?

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

Gabbi, Cedric, Bertrand Tadjic will go and our latest rubbish recruit, with Forster have to go.

Those out on loan. Who comes back? Who do we want to keep?

I think two players could be recruited from Stoke ( you know which two ) and we need at least a right back and two midfield and attackers. We knew we needed attackers last summer so don't make the same mistakes again.

Next year well be fine if The Board get their act together and don't leave it till the last day!

I think the likes of Forster as we may still be able to get ok money for him, Davies and Long have served their time but would be reluctant to lose anyone else. I think we need to concentrate on strengthening rather than selling anyone. We have a pretty good squad on the whole but there is not real competition for the first team players. No-one is really fighting for the place and being spurred on.

We need a decent keeper to at least compete with AM if not better than him, a good young keeper would be nice. We need an experienced centre back who can lead the line and educate Stephens and Hoedt. A right back to compete with Cedric, a genuine left back to compete with Bertrand, an experienced head in midfield may help to control and motivate ML, PEH and OR, a genuine attacking threat from midfield would be good. We have several wide options and if we hold on to Carrillo, we have a plan B if CA isn’t working. Would be good to have an exciting young forward nipping at his heels though to keep him honest.

So some exciting young players to provide competition to first teamers and a couple of experienced heads to help the back line and midfield reach their potential. I’m too busy celebrating staying up, sunshine and Sunday to bother naming names. COYR!

To be honest I don’t think we will be able to sell Forster, his confidence and reputation will be damaged. Maybe we could have Harry Lewis back as no 2/ 3 and sign another promising keeper and loan FF out to save on the high wages.

Not sure I agree with you about player sales Figo. I wouldn't go as far as those saying everyone should go, but I want to see us being proactive about re-working the squad. That doesn't mean a firesale, but getting rid of some key players who have been underperforming (Bertrand, Boufal, Redmond, Tadic, Cedric, Forster are all people I'd be listening to offers for) . This will make room for a few youngsters to get a proper chance (JWP, McQueen/ Targett, Sims etc. ) and a few new signings to come in.

I think we actually have decent depth which is why I think we need to sell in order to sign players. In a perfect world:
Sell:
Bertrand, Boufal, Tadic, Forster, Long.

Sign:
GK - someone affordable and young to compete with AM
RB - ditto, to push Cedric
LB - experienced plan B to McQueen/ Targett
CB - We need our new Fonte. As Figo said, someone who will make Stephens/ Hoedt better.
AM - Dream signing until a few months ago was Jesse Lingard. Not going to happen, but someone of that style.
W/ ST - Electric pace, direct. Mane replacement

Maybe I'm guilty of football manager thinking here to an extent, but I do think we need a bit of a shakeup despite surviving. To me we need a bit of a culture change though, which requires different personnel and normally a return to the youth system for young, hungry players.

Unfortunately I can see up to 9 players leaving.
FF has to go for his own career
Yoshi has had a offer
Bertrand I think will leave
Tadic has had a offer
Boufal has played his last game
Lamana will be in hot demand
Charlie will probably leave
Our new striker that I don’t even know his name
I’m sure there will be more but I can see all the above leaving. It’s not all bad, the club is in a financial safe place and I can’t see our new investors/ owners wanting to be in a relegation battle next season so hopefully have some exciting players coming in. It’s who they put in charge.
Don’t forget it was only in January we were after 30mil Quincey Promms! Exciting times and we are still in the Prem which feels like winning something at the time being.

Think for a GK we could probably look at bringing back Harry Lewis from loan, don't actually know how well he's been doing up in Scotland, but his regular football might mean he will be able to step up to the PL.
Think it's about time we brought through McQueen/ Targett, they should be good enough to step up. We need to start bringing through academy players.
Agreed with the CB statement, but who do we sign?
Agreed with the AM - but again who do we sign? Boufal or Tadic could do the job but their inconsistency isn't good for us. Could we look at resigning Lallana from Scouseland.
Agreed with ST - but again this could easily become Redmond.

Who have Tadic and Yoshi been linked with?

How about looking at non league worked with Vardy.

Lol it’s not as simple as just saying look at non league because of one strange example of a player taking that step up successfully.

Cb and attack are the spots we should invest in top players at. Hard to say who at this stage, but off the top of my head:
- moussa dembele
-adama traore
-Patrick Roberts
- Ben Gibson (remember him!? )
- Alfie Mawson
- Jonny Evans
- charly musonda

A few of these - Mawson, Evans, dembele - may seem a bit unrealistic, but they’re players who will be wanting a move and if big moves don’t materialise, then I think we’d have a shot.
