Just reading we have put a offer in for Liam Delap worth up to 30m. Any truth in this?
{Ed002's Note - I think the offer was a lot less than that. It has been rejected.}
1.) 24 Jul 2022 21:22:38
No surprise to see that pep is willing to let two defensive players come to us, with buy back clause, as they'll get plenty of practice. But not an attacker who will probably not benefit from being with us.
11 Jun 2018 11:05:05
I've read today we are interested in Schneiderlin, hope we can get him back I loved watching him play football. Any truth in this Ed's or just paper talk?
{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}
1.) 12 Jun 2018 12:22:40
Can't see it myself rich. Schneiderlin seems to have regressed since he left but vastly increased his wages. add to that the fact we are overloaded with similar central midfielders already I don't see us in for him. Particularly when we need creativity in the midfield, pace up top, and solidity at the back from our summer purchases.
2.) 12 Jun 2018 14:50:09
Completely agree with everything Milky said. Loved him when he was here, but we have no need for him now. I suppose if we were to lose Lemina, as has been vaguely rumoured, then I might be a bit more open to it, but even then I'd need some convincing.
3.) 12 Jun 2018 15:11:03
I agree Saints 123. I hope we don't lose Lemina as I think that he'll show how good he is next season. I feel that we need 3 new additions to the team and for sparky to take us back to fast attacking football like we played under Koeman. Hoping for a top ten finish next year.
4.) 13 Jun 2018 22:53:19
Agreed on Lemina. He's a class above. If we let him get settled in the team with a clear and consistent role, he'll show his true quality. Personally not convinced Hughes is the man to get this out of him (he had a lot of talented players at Stoke and never really made them stars - see Shaqiri, Arnautovic, Bojan, Zouma, Jese and probably more that I've forgotten), but oh well Hughes is the man we got, so please prove me wrong!
The sad thing is, you can already tell that Lemina has bigger things in his future than the Saints. With a bit of refining he is Champs League quality.
5.) 19 Jun 2018 06:21:12
I think lemina is class but he will be over looked by clubs because of our season last year, rightly so to be honest. We held the ball did nothing with if conceded then had no answer. The players are to blame to some degree, but I think the tactics were more to blame. You have to use players strengths and mp did not do that. I do rate Hughes and I kind of feel like he had a squad of boufals at Stoke. They thought they were bigger than they were without proving it. I'd like to see Boufal prove himself and work for his spot in the team because he has potential but we also need players who want to work for the team. Ward prose needs to learn how to bully in the middle of the park. His passing is unreal but unfortunately doesn't have enough to his game other than this. Great potential but isn't a premiership player without strength in the tackle in my opinion. Would like to hear others opinion on this?
6.) 19 Jun 2018 19:22:28
sfcphill . couldn't agree more . a modern day midfielder should have everything in his locker. they should all be able to do their defensive duties along with their natural game, it doesn't take much to ask a player to track back and make it difficult for their oppenent. they might not be the best tackler, but at least hustle them and work hard!
07 Feb 2018 06:29:48
Any news on Quincey Promes, do you think we will go back in for him in the summer?
1.) 07 Feb 2018 09:21:20
if he has a good back end of the season he will e offered to bigger clubs now it has been mad public I feel. unless hoedt or someone can convince him to come.
2.) 07 Feb 2018 11:53:28
Considering that we could have bought him this window as his replacement was bought, I'd say no. The club made a show of wanting to buy better players, paraded everything in the media but ultimately didn't want the player. Was reported that he supposedly wanted to come and saints were supposedly wanting to buy but Moscow let us down. It's hard to decipher the truth to be honest.
3.) 07 Feb 2018 14:34:00
sfcphill are you saying Southampton didn't actually want Promes but just wanted to make a show of wanting him, or have I misunderstood you?
If you are saying that then where did you see it/ how do you know this?
4.) 07 Feb 2018 15:12:56
The only thing I know was reading his agents media bit. apparently saints didn't offer the full asking price so they didn't see. As phil says its hard to know what happened and don't think we ever will know.
5.) 07 Feb 2018 20:52:27
There's evidence to support my wild claim other than a whim. I just feel ultimately it was more than the club were willing to go for and because nothing else was lined up it was paraded in press ass if we missed out. Which isn't exactly what happened, trouble with reading reports about football is that you can't be certain as to what's true or not. Promes replacement was signed though.
6.) 09 Feb 2018 15:23:32
No you're right we'll never know, so hey, let's just assume the worst about the club. That's the new Southampton way, right?
7.) 11 Feb 2018 14:19:21
Why would he if come to the premier league to a club in a relegation battle I feel if we stay up we will go back in for him. The likes of Lemina and hoedt signing have to be a positive and the chances of a move on after a couple of years to a bigger club.

Hi Eds a couple of things, I have seen we are interested in a new striker, two in particular one from Atletico and one from Barcelona - both unable to get any game time! Have you any info on this and also during the last transfer window did Liverpool consider Toby Alderwierd, he apparently is after more money and in my opinion better than VVD, thanks in advance and love the site.
{Ed002's Note - (a) I am not aware of any approach from Southampton to Atletico about a player, but perhaps someone has suggested Kevin Gameiro, who will likely be available in January. I really don't know. (b) I suspect that the Barcelona player is Paco Alcacer who is indeed looking to move on. I am not aware of any approach from Southampton and Barcelona will be reluctant to sell in January unless they have a replacement. (c) No.}
1.) 03 Oct 2017 10:02:55
Luciano Vietto is the chap at Atletico we were rumoured to be interested in if you believe the media.
{Ed002's Note - Southampton enquired about a loan but Atleti had no interest and I thought that was the end of it. Fenerbahce may return for him. Gameiro is the one who will really lose out.}
2.) 03 Oct 2017 14:07:12
Seeing as we can't hit a barn door with a banjo at the moment I would expect we will be willing to splash some cash in jan.
3.) 03 Oct 2017 19:24:56
You'd like to think although for some reason it wasn't an area of focus in the summer. selling j rod, olomola and Gallagher out on loan and obviously no strikers in. I wouldn't be surprised if January comes and goes without a striker being signed.
19 Apr 2017 13:36:41
Just seen on SSN we are after Sigurdsson from Swansea, any truth in this Eds.
Look at me, we hate it when clubs come knocking on our door! Just football I suppose.
{Ed002's Note - Gylfi Sigurdsson is of interest to a nukmber of sides including Southampton.}
1.) 19 Apr 2017 19:24:10
We've been interested in him for a couple of windows now - I heard we put a bid in in Jan for him? Up until this season, Swansea have been doing fine so no dice. Their season this time though means there could be movement. Koeman and Everton are interested too.
2.) 20 Apr 2017 09:50:53
I have been a fan of Sigurdsson for a while now. If we are lucky enough to get him then it would be a definite and positive improvement to the squad.
3.) 21 Apr 2017 13:12:57
I heard that we put a £37m bid in for him in the January window just gone.
{Ed002's Note - They would have bitten the collective arm off if Southampton did.}
4.) 21 Apr 2017 19:13:50
I hope you laughed in whoever's face told you that joff. Sell Mane for £34m and then buy Sigurdsson for £37?! Really?
5.) 21 Apr 2017 22:37:40
I didn't believe it but clubs are talking £35m now for him, so I thought I'd mention it. They thought that maybe the figure was jointly for him and that Swans defender we were. linked with on deadline day, but that was shot down by both Clubs - just rumours.
6.) 22 Apr 2017 09:51:40
Sigurdsson was koemans number 1 target before he upped sticks some say part of the reason he left as board deemed to much money for one player, redmond much cheaper and arrived before puel became manager.

It all gone quiet for transfers except us trying to off load Boufal and FF. I'm still hoping we can sign a proven goal scorer but do you think that will be our lot or not. I suppose a lot of it is who we can keep, for example I would hate to see Mario Lemina leave as he could be a possible transfer target for Man C.
1.) 19 Jul 2018 19:04:19
I think we'll bring in another attacker, and that'll be it (at least in terms of major signings, who knows if there are youngsters or depth players we have our eyes on) . Whether it's a striker or winger, I don't know.
2.) 19 Jul 2018 20:08:49
Lemina is definetly one of our most talented players, would be gutted if we lost him think if he can nail a starting place he’ll be fantastic for us.
31 Jan 2018 07:11:08
I love deadline day, I've already used all my data and have gat an extra bolt on. My phone today will mostly be on ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
How many man hours do you recon are lost today with blokes just staring at their phones 😂😂😂 Please give us some good news.
1.) 31 Jan 2018 22:01:57
Waste of your time and credit. sorry rich.
03 Jan 2018 21:57:29
Just putting it out there. I don't like shooting down our mangers and I think giving them a fair chance is best but when time is finally up for MP and I think it will be, if we could get him Brendon Rogers would be a good shout. Probably wouldn't come to Saints mind.
1.) 04 Jan 2018 10:27:48
Didn’t have a clue at Liverpool my son who is 12 could manage in Scotland.
21 Dec 2017 10:20:02
Now that Swansea have sacked Clement and with the managers doing the merry go round where do you see Koeman going, I've read MP position is in doubt. Just a thought!
1.) 21 Dec 2017 13:54:14
Koeman doesn't want Swansea job. Eric Black has resigned from the club which is very interesting. So if we sign a solid first team coach we could be in for a solid second half of the season.
We still have the potential of a decent FA Cup run. A decent run of form would change our season around. It will be interesting seeing what / if anything changes after EB's departure.
2.) 21 Dec 2017 21:53:43
I was actually so glad to read eb leaving. which may be harsh as I don't know what influence he had over things. I just know we looked different, bad different since he's been about. anyway no harshness meant to him and hope he can fix his injuries and return to the game.
13 May 2016 11:01:22
With all this talk over Ronald's contract and possible interest from Everton people should remember, Everton paid 28 mil for Lukaku - that shows real commitment. We haven't paid anywhere near that for our top stars and yet they still leave.
I don't want to get on the boards back but surely a bit of commitment and the funds for RK to spend and he might sign a contract extension. All said and done I think RK will honour his contract and Everton will end up with Frank de Boer, let's hope RK signs a new contract.
1.) 13 May 2016 11:18:51
I take it back, great commitment VVD and now FF and JWP. Get in - next Big Ron?!
20 Feb 2018 12:21:35
My predictions would be
Burnley away - Draw
Stoke home - win
Newcastle away - draw
West Ham away - draw
Arsenal away - loss
Chelsea home - loss
Leicester away - loss
Bournemouth home - win
Everton away - loss
Man City home - loss
That will put us on 35 points, just hope I’m wrong and we get some more wins. Our season is going to be decided in the next 4 games.
19 Feb 2018 17:05:16
I wouldn’t go to the bookies with them predictions 😂.
16 Mar 2017 11:45:17
I hope not Bertrand has been immense for us but I guess everyone has a price. Do you know how much longer he has on his contract?
{Ed001's Note - 4 years I think.}
14 Jul 2015 12:36:37
Cheers Eds, much appreciated
Thanks for your input
Onwards and upwards
{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate, sorry it took a while to reply, I was trying to get a name on a forward. Still waiting on that, or names if there are a couple of possibles. I will just post them when I finally do get them.}
14 May 2018 09:41:09
Unfortunately I can see up to 9 players leaving.
FF has to go for his own career
Yoshi has had a offer
Bertrand I think will leave
Tadic has had a offer
Boufal has played his last game
Lamana will be in hot demand
Charlie will probably leave
Our new striker that I don’t even know his name
I’m sure there will be more but I can see all the above leaving. It’s not all bad, the club is in a financial safe place and I can’t see our new investors/ owners wanting to be in a relegation battle next season so hopefully have some exciting players coming in. It’s who they put in charge.
Don’t forget it was only in January we were after 30mil Quincey Promms! Exciting times and we are still in the Prem which feels like winning something at the time being.
01 Oct 2017 07:21:30
I think come the end of the season a lot of teams will be on around the same points and goal difference will have its say on the bottom 3.
13 May 2016 11:18:51
I take it back, great commitment VVD and now FF and JWP. Get in - next Big Ron?!
