I've just read the rumour of saint's looking at FC Utrecht forward Haller. The type or forward needed, young good stats and anticipation with goals to boot. Playing up front with Pella will give us a more attacking lineup, 4-4-2, instead of this defencive midfield formation we seem to be adapting lately.
Also on the U-Tube vid was Yassin Ayoub,21. Haller's team mate, reads the game well, tackles, passes, one of those busy players.
Like most teams we're needing some injection of new players/ ideas/ formation, whether we start using our unused youth Hesketh/ McQueen/ Reeed/ Seager or buy/ sell, that's in the hands of our manager/ backroom team. Who have shown they can do a good job over the last 12 months.
PS, on a personal note I will not miss watching Wanyama, don't get me started, just let everyone else read good reports and sell for another profit, so we can start playing with 11 players again.
PPS, Don't panic we have a good base to our squad and Forsters back soon.

{Ed002's Note - Keep an eye on Cordoba's Florín Andone who has attracted the attention of Espanyol and Southampton with previous interest of Aston Villa and Young Boys long gone. For the right price Cordoba will sell and look to perhaps Jean Luc as a replacement.}

All sounds promising but so did Juanmi etc. At this time we need players with experience of the PL and I'm afraid we are not in a position to give the players as above time to adapt to the tough EPL .

Seen the same rumour myself, did a bit of 'undercover investigation' on this (the first YouTube video that came up when I typed in his name) and he seems to be an extremely composed and confident player. He can also act as a playmaker in some situations which is exactly what we need right now when our opportunities are few and far between. Imagine him holding the ball up, Long running onto it and those two having a field day with an oppositions offside trap.

Also, have you seen his back foot chip on that goalkeeper? My jaw nearly hit the table when I saw that, you have to be pretty confident that's going to work to even comprehend it in that situation.

PS - I didn't just watch the first video, I looked at all of the stats I could find on him and also chatted to an exchange student in my class at college who's a Utrecht fan; he's pretty fond of his abilities.

Im fed up with saints making 10 and only spending 2. The player's we bought have potential but not yet to the standard what we have just sold how can we build a team when we keep knocking down the foundations. We will always be the 'selling club' enless we change our ways.

It's the recruitment not the cos, mahrez cost Leicester 400,000 and as one of the eds pointed out Leicester board are backing club to buy and win things. Facts are we can't afford to smash the club back into borrowed money. The money is being spent, but because we aren't buying 30 million pounds players ( could we attract the ones we would actually want) everyone is kicking off. And everyone directs it at the board!? How about mane getting a sniff of man utds interest and not turning up since. Veho stopped using mane in marketing 2 months ago. Osvaldo, Ramirez etc not enough of a lesson for you? Well the board have clearly learnt and won't do it again. I don't blame them. Players like cuco, Cedric so on are clearly not up to speed but it's squad depth and long term. If they had to get rid of cuco for discipline it would cost them peanuts. Osvaldo cost them 10 mil, just to get rid. I have no worries about the board. Nor the transfer policy, if they had another way they would. Yes I hate seeing our best players cherry picked year after year . but I'm also proud and excited to be a saints fan.

I don't mind selling one or two players each year - OK not the whole squad - if we are a stepping stone for hot new talent then that's a great label to have - and it will attract exactly that - hot new talent who can play PREM and occasionally every few seasons all the planets will align and we will get a european spot, or a new gareth bale - just look at Spurs so far this season - it is basically what has happened there. Liverpool did not pay £5m for Deli Ali because they thought the fee was too risky. Now he is the next Gerrard and worth £20m or more. Falcao was a £45 million player and is probably worth about 10% of that currently. The strategy is good - but it won't make us top 4 contenders every year - you could always go and support Man City? if you want to follow a club that buys the top players.

Express listed all players we are potentially looking to get, the list follows: Tonny Vilhena again for wanyama
Charlie Austin if pelle apparently goes to fiorentina
Koulibaly again for caulker if he leaves
Emre mor, Danish youngster wanted by man u and the scousers
Quintero from Porto if Gaston leaves, have to battle with arsenal though
Haller French 11 goals in 16
Thomas partey from atletico Madrid also for wanyama.

I certainly don't want to buy top players or support man city. If that was aimed in response at me? I have said I would rather have 3 or 4 academy players playing week in week out. I know people are going to just reply no one is good enough from the academy . but reed was . Where is he? And why are they not good enough? because they are scattered around the country being treated like crap and not playing, learning growing together. Someone said Shaw, lallana etc were better than the current crop. true, when they left but when they started they were the same. Learning the trade making mistakes. Fine balance to do well in the prem and play youngsters but if we have such an amazing academy, with millions being spent on it surely we can do that.

RK has said that the best Academy player and the only one he thinks is ready, is Matty Targett.

Although I trust the saints transfer team I just think we need to sign more established players especially this season.

Rayzer
Your having a laugh, just one bit of info you didn't write Sam Gallagher just sent back to Southampton as not good enough for Mk Dons, 15 games no goals. If he's not good enough for a average championship side then what makes you think he's good enough for Saints. don't believe it when you read that Saints asked for him back their manager has stated that they needed to clear the decks to make room for replacements so they sent him back.

2 years ago when he was playing ok in the saints team, just starting to break through being touted on here as the next great academy product, as was isgrove, ward prowse then step backwards. Now how many academy products are close but not close enough to be trusted with premier league status? So a whole generation of academy players get shipped around the country on loan. Damaging confidence, routine. Tell me how we are supposed to find the next great gem when we won't risk him so we buy a 3 million pounds players from the erdervise. And you totally miss my point. Although I've said it a thousand times. The youth or academy products of lallana, schneiderlin, Shaw, chambers etc grew, played and learnt together. the current crop or future don't stand a chance. Reed was looking quality, as good as anyone when he got a run, and look how he was treated, now even rumoured to be shipped out on loan. Sound familiar?

See there is nothing wrong with getting good bargains
But the average squad filler for a prem team is (only guess ) about 4-5 mill subs bench 1-3 mill first team 5 mill up
And I thought Elia for 3 mil was a bargain
And on the point of haller it is more the possible of exceptional talent to be found but I personally feel that if there in a lower quality league they need to score with pure easiness (sorry for spelling) they need to just do it fluent no balls bouncing off players before hittin the net not silly misses nice first touch these are things I and a lot of boys around me where doing at a young age just like most on here
But I have looked at 3 or 4 different youtube videos and I do not see this in him
Mayuka and de ridder had better compilations
And look wot happend there
And I appoligise for droaning on
But when we sign players that are stars in there own right and light u gottaet them carry there persona and ego becuase this is wot makes them feel good
So since Adkins it's been a lot of chop and change
And to hear people say osvaldo and Ramirez have been a waste of money it works both ways
We do need to understand that kath didn't won't to buy a team caperble of constant to six or four challenge and cortese did and I can fully understand why he did won't it so much
When he fully stood behind us and said we will be challenging for champions status every one said nah no chance, lol, this cortese this and this cortese that .
And I do understand how he was with MLT and the like
We are working people of southampton and we pay to watch the peoples game we pay
But some that have had a paid career for service during a unbelievable career and talent and even now he has contacts and a career being a pundit wanted to go for free
I struggle with 4kids I work I buy 2 kids kits and my one or if I'm being super gay I'll have two and I still pay my tickets so did cortese but that was made a big thing of
We now have kath and I believe only reason she won't sell is becuase it was her farthers club and probably knows cortese is sat waiting to make a offer to by and she will never won't that.
