Hi Eds do you know anything about these Erik Sviatchenko rumours that's just popped up all of a sudden? Cheers

ponykeeper83

{Ed007's Note - I don't think there's anything in the rumour mate, I've not heard anything about any Southampton interest in Sviatchenko. I'd say that if you were interested in any of our CB's that are available it would be Simunovic who is a much better player than Erik who started well at Celtic but seems to have went back the way. It would be a massive gamble taking Sviatchenko to the EPL imo - especially in Southampton's position in the league.}

1.) 15 Jan 2018 18:56:09
Cheers ed thanks for the info.

{Ed007's Note - Sviatchenko's returning to Danish side Midtjylland on loan for the rest of the season. That's probably the best move for him if they make it permanent at the end of it.}

Anything more on Stuart Armstrong ed?

Has anyone else heard about the club buying the old ford site and building a 51-56k stadium?

ponykeeper83

1.) 10 Jul 2015 10:17:56
This was banded around a couple of years ago. Don't think there is any truth in it.

2.) 10 Jul 2015 10:53:03
Free transfer . 2 year contract to fill the squad and add experience for the young ones to learn from. Can't be a bad thing.

3.) 10 Jul 2015 10:56:11
It was mentioned a couple of years ago, can't see there being much truth in it although it would be perfect for transport links.

Realistically, could we sell out a stadium that size?

4.) 10 Jul 2015 10:58:45
Not happening.

5.) 10 Jul 2015 12:48:17
Cheers fellas

6.) 10 Jul 2015 17:39:32
Supposedly in 2012 or 2013 the club requested planning permission on part of the site to build a 50k stadium, train station and something else (can't remember what exactly - might have been a sports complex or hotel) I think any further action on the site depended on how full St Mary's was throughout the year as to whether it would have been sensible to spend that amount of money on a new stadium or just concentrate on expanding St Marys

Then the sunseeker owner bought some of the site, possibly the same bit the club were looking at, which then became the basis of all the rumours of Cortese returning with another buyer for the club

7.) 10 Jul 2015 21:43:46
A stadium expansion has been explored BUT will not happen unless we are maxed capacity constantly. Quote.

8.) 10 Jul 2015 22:58:07
As long as we are in the premier league esso14 we will hit target I fear the fair weather fans will stop if there was a twist of fate god forbid

9.) 11 Jul 2015 00:28:44
Yes as SaintySaintSaint says the rumours were true, but no idea what the state of play is currently.

As esso14 has stated, expansion has been explored, with a possible date of 16/17 season for decisions being made.

The problem with expansion is that the infrastructure around St Marys is so poor that it will be expensive to expand, and the expansion size is limited - I can't quite remember to what size but I think it may be around the 45k mark and only on three sides of the stadium.

This has led the club to look at alternative sites - indeed they were looking at alternative site when they were still in Division 1 - got to love the ambition!

Hi ed carl jenkinson's loan to Sunderland is apparently going to fall through are we going to go back in for him? Cheers

ponykeeper83

{Ed024's Note - West Ham still favourites to get him on loan.}

13 May 2015 12:46:38
Hi ed according to the papers we're favourites to land Austin. Does this mean that pell or long could be out the door?

ponykeeper83

{Ed001's Note - not from what I am told, no. It is to add to the options that there is interest in Austin. There was also interest in Ings but he is looking to go elsewhere at the moment.}

Hi guys
Is it just me or is Jamie redknapp behaving like a almighty nob head about the VVD situation on the premier league debate on ssn?

ponykeeper83

1.) 08 Aug 2017 14:38:29
Jamie is nearly as big a know as his old man it is no wonder his Mrs is off with the dancer. As for his brief spell I seem to think he made Anderton look match fit and spent most of it sat on his arse getting paid. All these ex players getting paid to talk utter drivel on to and sky/ by is a joke A decent commentator is all you need. It is all that staves off bankruptcy for most of them.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 14:42:05
It isn't just you Poneykeeper, I used to think Jamie Redknapp was an ok guy but it seems he is a chip off the old block. His father would be proud of his latest outburst on the debate. He states that SFC are and have always been a selling club which is simply rubbish. We have been shrewd and signed players that very quickly became financial assets that the rest of the PL had either missed or not scouted properly. Unfortunately as has been said many times before we have been victims of our own success in acquiring these players and also producing top players from our academy . The result of all this is that the major clubs wanted to buy them for big money and offer them massive wages. That is not for me a selling club that is a club which is improving its position as a potential major player in the PL whilst keeping their financial status in a good healthy state. Anyway Pony the answer is yes he is a knob, runs in the family.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 17:50:45
They all are, loads of the pundits and former Liverpool players have just stirred this up all summer even when there supposedly hasn't been an offer.

Hi ed been snooping around the gossip pages on Facebook and someone reckons they've snapped januzaj at the pier? You heard anything on that? Cheers

ponykeeper83

{Ed002's Note - On his way to Wigan then?}

1.) 15 Jun 2015 20:42:15
That same picture did the rounds a couple of weeks ago, turned out it was just his doppelgänger.

28 Apr 2015 12:54:17
Hey ed rumours in the echo comments that Bournemouth want to ground share!?! What's the chances of that happening Seeing they can only hold 12'000? Cheers

ponykeeper83

{Ed002's Note - No, that won't be happening.}

1.) 28 Apr 2015 14:23:58
Redknapp said on TV a few weeks ago that Bournemouth plan to fill in the corners of the ground with seats that will bring capacity up to 18k. This won't be done in time for the start of the season, so there may be a chance (he was saying) that they need to find a ground for the first couple of months. Saints are only 20 miles down the road so people are assuming that 2 + 2 = 4. He also said that his knee hurt and that he couldn't walk!

2.) 28 Apr 2015 16:57:33
There's no minimum ground capacity, as long as the ground is safe and an all seater it doesn't matter

You've forgotten one small thing these fans in Asia are all fair weather fans and will only support the club if we are in the premier league.

I don't think Liverpool pay out 40mill to sit on the bench.

positive attitude has got us nowhere 123 even then it's only the northam stand that sings and cheers all the stands are full of families and seniors who to watch in silence. It's too late now it's toxic the board don't care whether we're up or down because financially we're not worse off because thanks to the VVD payments and parachute payments (if we go down) which will be over 43mill a year. Not forgetting all the profits of players sales and being the only club in the premier league with debts!

On the flip side I honestly think the board prepared for us to go down. With the parachute payments and the VVD payments and also the tv money we will be no worse off.

Neither can West ham ed he won't get those sort of wages there. He'll more than likely take a pay cut.

ponykeeper83

{Ed001's Note - yes he will take a pay cut, but they do pay higher wages as a rule.}
